Housekeeper in the dungeon

chapter 89

EPISODE 89

It was even an expansion that increased the square footage by 20. It was a great effect for such a small piece of space.

I liked it so much that I didn’t even bother looking at the rest of the miscellaneous item rewards that kept popping up. It was just enough room for three people, a snail, and a plant.

“Didn’t you like the quest rewards?”

Kang jin-hyeon asked cautiously, and Hee-na threw up her hands.

“No, I didn’t. It was the best thing I’ve gotten in a long time.”

Indeed, it was the jackpot.

* * *

Kang jin-hyeon left the dungeon.

Before he left, he asked me to seriously consider his offer.

The story was interrupted by the completion of the dungeon walk quest…… So it was about staying at Hee-na’s house.

Hee-Na sat alone in her office, lost in thought.

“What should I do?

She didn’t need to keep Kang jin-hyeon in the house. Besides, they were neighboring cousins, so they had enough interaction without having to live together.

“Of course, there was no reason to let him stay at my place…….”

But why does my heart waver? Was it because Kang jin-hyeon was too good a housemate?

“Eh, I didn’t know. I’ll think about it slowly while he was gone. I’ll also talk to my brother.”

I was trying to shake off my thoughts.

A bang!

The office door vibrated with a thud just in time. The sound was more like a punch than a knock, but a knock is a knock nonetheless.

“Who……?”

I cautiously answered, and a booming voice boomed from the other side of the door.

“Me!”

I replied, so confidently that I was dripping wet on the floor. She didn’t even reveal her name, but simply replied, “I am!”…….

But Hee-na recognized the voice.

“……Mr. Sang-hoon?”

I pushed open the door, and a middle-aged man with a large build poked his head in.

“Yes, it was Hee-Na. How are you?”

He chuckled and grabbed Hee-Na’s hand to shake it.

“Hi. How have you been?”

The middle-aged man’s name was Choi Choi Hoon, and he was an S-class appraiser. For reference, there were only three S-class appraisers in the world.

And by appraiser, he meant a non-combat Awakened class that could check the detailed usability and functions of dungeon items.

Choi Sang-hoon looked around in admiration as Hee-na sat down in her seat of power.

“Wow. I thought you were the team leader, so you got a nice place. You’re the team leader.”

“Oh, yeah. You’re new here, right?”

“Yeah. I’ve been a little busy and haven’t been out much.”

Her relationship with Choi Choi Hoon was old, if not quite old enough.

Hee-na briefly recalled their first meeting.

When she was in charge of cleaning the public break room, it was Choi who went on a rampage, claiming that the bed she’d ordered as a ‘comfort bed’ didn’t feel right.

‘At the end, I used my skill to put her to sleep…….’

It was quite an intense first meeting.

The second meeting with Choi Choi Hoon took place shortly after Hee-Na was assigned to the Awakeners’ common room.

He was just as hot-tempered and geeky as he was in the first meeting, but he was also very easygoing and got along with everyone.

‘Miss, I’m sorry about that, I was so excited.’

Choi Sang-hoon apologized to Hee-na with a thick hand, and soon after, he laughed out loud when she asked him to call her ‘Uncle Sang-hoon’ for ease.

It was a casual conversation that led to a close friendship.

As a non-combat Awakened, he never went out to dungeon raids, so they became especially close because they would go in and out of the common room every day.

“So, what were you doing here, Sang-hoon, and why aren’t you in the lab?”

Hee-na asked as she poured a cup of Sang-hoon’s favorite mixed coffee and handed it to him.

Choi was rarely seen outside of his lab and the break room. He shifted his heavy hips and wondered what brought him to Hee-na’s office.

“Oh. That was right…….”

Choi gulped down his hot mixed coffee and lowered his voice to a whisper. It was as if he had come to tell her a secret.

“……Well, I was here to ask you a favor.”

“A favor for me? Were you tired and want me to put you to bed in the lab?”

As far as Hee-Na was concerned, that was all she could ask. What could she possibly ask of Choi Sang-hoon, one of the most talented people in the world?

Besides, Choi wasn’t as sensitive as Kang Jin-hyeon. He slept well wherever he put his head, and he had an appetite that could chew a rock.

“Hmmm, hmmm.”

Choi scratched his head vigorously. He looked like he was about to say something embarrassing.

“I was here on behalf of the other Hunters of the Blue Dragon Guild. I’m Won-chan……. I can’t believe I’m in charge of all this.”

“Yes. Go ahead.”

Hee-Na straightened her posture and sat down.

It was obvious that this was no ordinary job for a Hunter from the Blue Dragon Guild.

Of course, it was unclear why she’d by passed the head of human resources, Kang Mok-hyun, and gone straight to Hee-na. …….

“It’s Hee-na.”

Choi Sang-hoon opened his mouth slowly.

“Ever since you became the head of the Awakened State Management Team and left, there was been a lot of dissatisfaction among the regular Hunters.”

“Dissatisfaction…….”

Hee-na repeated Choi’s words.

“Of course. A C-ranked housekeeper suddenly promoted to team leader and living comfortably…… might have seemed like an eyesore to others.

On the outside, everyone seemed to be celebrating Hee-na’s promotion in unison, but on the inside, I realized that some people didn’t like it.

It was expected, but it was not pleasant to hear it so casually.

Naturally, his face darkened, and when he saw this, Choi Choi Hoon became angry and threw up his hands.

“No, no, no! I didn’t mean it in a bad way! Of course, you were to be congratulated on your good fortune, what kind of a bastard would think otherwise?”

“You didn’t have to be so nice, I heard there was been a lot of discontent among the other Hunters……?”

Choi shouted loud enough to echo through the office.

“No, no. It’s not the complaints you think it is, no way!”

“Then what was it?”

“It was about this …… thing called Hunter Management. Can’t you do something for us, not just for Kang Jin-hyeon?”

“What?”

I hadn’t thought of that.

“The other guys have suggested this to Team Leader Kang Mok-hyun several times, but he didn’t give a shit about your increased workload. He was afraid you’ll neglect my brother. Chet……. Plus, you know Kang’s personality, which is not normal. The kids came back from a carjacking……. He was too scared to come to you and tell you about it, so I did it for him.”

Choi Seung-hoon grumbled and discussed Kang Mok-hyun’s bad behavior.

At least jin-hyeonKang has a cute flavor, but Team Leader Kang doesn’t have the ‘a’ in cute, and he discriminates against hunters based on their abilities.

“……Sir, Sang-hoon?”

Hee-na’s call brought Sang-hoon back to his senses.

“Oh, yeah. I’ll continue what I was saying. Anyway, here was what the Hunters are complaining about: no matter how nominal the Awakened State Management Team is, it was unfair for the benefits to be concentrated on Kang jin-hyeon alone.”

In other words, the other Hunters were desperate for Hee-na’s help.

Hee-na looked a little puzzled at that.

“I was often down there, and I can cast a cozy bed for you…….”

In between her generous schedule, Hee-Na would often go down to the Hunter’s Common Room and cast a cozy bed.

Partly to improve her skill, but also because she wanted to give something back to the Hunters in the restroom.

‘I was baffled that you still want more.

I frowned slightly, unsure of how much more the Hunters wanted me to do for them.

Then Choi Choi Hoon cleared his throat and spoke up.

“Of course, I didn’t want you to take care of me like you do Kang Jin-hyeon, or you won’t have anybody left, but I’d like you to come down once in a while and bring me some kimbap, and maybe some peanuts or something, but not often. Once a month is fine. I’ll pay for it.”

The Hunters had been missing Hee-na’s kimbap for a long time.

But when they ate the roasted peanuts with Hee-Na’s touch, their craving for Hee-Na’s cooking exploded.

“You didn’t need to prepare a lot of food. You just need to make enough and put it in order.”

The rest is up to them to fight and take it or not……,” she said, and Hee-na giggled.

It sounded like a joke, but she knew he was serious.

“I understand what you were saying, Mr. Sanghoon.”

“I’m sorry to ramble on, but if it was too much for you, you can decline. There was no need to went through the trouble of doing something you didn’t have to.”

Choi Seung-hoon said with a hint of humility. Hee-na smiled and shook her head.

“No, it was just that your story made me realize that I’ve been too indifferent to the other Hunters.”

Hee-na was the team leader of the Awakened State Management Team, even if it was only for Kang Jin-hyeon.

As the name implied, it was responsible for managing the status of all the Awakened in the Blue Dragon Guild.

“Well…… I have plenty of time.

Hee-na thought about her schedule since she became the Awakened Status Management Team Leader.

It had been very leisurely, even boring. All she had to do was make sure Kang jin-hyeon ate and slept.

And when he was away on dungeon runs, like this time, I had absolutely nothing to do. It was like a vacation.

“Good, I was bored and had some time to kill, so that was good.”
