House of The Dragon-A God Amongst Men

Chapter 19: Dragonstone

[A/N: I'm going to address a few things.

When it comes to Key Characters such as Baelon, Aemon, Alyssa, and etc, don't expect a premature death. I have some things planned with them on the plot of this story but it's necessary for them to live and have their kids (Viserys, Daemon, Rhaenys, and etc.)

That is because with what I have planned, they are needed to be alive.]

(Drakken's POV)

[A Few Weeks Later....]

I spat on the ground, "This is it?" I asked with a raised eyebrow, "This is the best you can come up with?"

I looked at the small wooden house that was built in the middle of a mountain. It was small, squared, and had two closed windows on the front, one on each side of the door that was in the middle.

The worker was looking down, "I am sorry, milord." He said, "This is the best I could do on terrain like this and with the supplies the Crown provided in such a short time. And not to mention, I have all the furnishing ready. A chimney, a table, a room with a bed suitable for one person. For a few week's work, I am surprised I even finished it. It is stable too....my best work in such a short time..."

I walked over to the house and placed my hand on it, inspecting it. It did look sturdy and all. He was right, too. I requested for a house to be built on a harsh and rocky terrain that was in the middle of a mountain. I was pleasantly surprised that this man and his three other helpers were even capable of progressing it. While they worked on it, I simply camped out in the mountains, exploring the Island.

I nodded, "Well done." I said as I stepped back, "What is it you seek as a reward?"

"M-Milord?" The Worker said

I looked at him, "You heard me."

"Well, we already received the payment from Prince Aemon who is apparently going to return to his castle in a few weeks." He said, "We don't need anything else....."

I walked up to him, seeing that his other helpers were standing a few feet away, looking down in nervousness.

"Nonsense." I told him, "This will be my home. You did a good job. Name your price, I shall decide if I can grant it."

"I...." he said, "Well, I don't ask for much....some gold might be good."

"Done." I said as I pulled out a coin purse and handed it to him, "I don't know how much that is but I'm sure that it's a fortune for a commoner like you."

"M-Milord...!" He said with a surprised look

"You are from the fishing village down low?" I asked him

"Y-Yes..." He said

I turned around, "I expect daily shipments of a few fish." I said, "Send someone up to make the trip."

"M-Milord, I doubt that would be possible." He said, "We are fortunate that we could finish the house without interruptions but nobody else in the village is going to try to make the trip."

I looked at him, "How so?"

"This island has wild dragons." he said, "There is a certain period where they merely stay in their nests but when they're not, they patrol around the island. They are sure to eat any man that they find wandering about."

"Oh, so that's the issue?" I said with a chuckle, "There will be no need to worry about that."

"W-What makes you say that?" He asked

I smirked slightly, "Why do you think I requested for a house to be built specifically here? Away from the villages and Aemon's castle?" I asked, "Because I want to be near these dragons. They will learn to fear me. Spread the message; from this day forth, no dragons will harm the humans in this island."

"H-How can you make that happen?" He asked

"You ask too many questions." I gave him a serious scowl, "But I will answer this last...."

"I am a Dragon God."

[The Next Day]

"We could only manage three fishes, milord." The fisherman said as he stood in front of my door

He was holding a small basket, I could smell the fishes from all the way where I sat. I noticed that there was a young girl behind him, looking at me with a curious expression. She was wearing a commoner's dress and some ragged gloves. She had dark brown hair and blue eyes, which made her look quite pretty.

I was sitting on a wooden rocking chair, sharpening an obsidian spear-head, "That is fine." I said, "Set it down there."

He nodded and set the basket down, "A-Alright.." He said, "O-Oh, the carpenter wanted me to let you know that some dragons have been spotted nearby. I have told him that we would not be able to make a delivery tomorrow should they be near but he told me you have ensured our safety?"

I raised the spear-head close to my face, "How many of them?"

"T-Two...." He said, "A grey one and a black one."

"The grey one should not be a problem, father." The girl said, "He's a ghost, Greyghost."

I raised an eyebrow, "What makes you say that?"

"H-He's small....only feeds on fish.." She said with a gulp, "I have seen it for a few seconds before it spotted me and flew away."

"And the black one?" I said as I continued sharpening the spear-head with my nail, "What's the deal with that one?"

"That one is dangerous...." the fisherman said, "Even the Lord-Castellan of Dragonstone claims it could be dangerous. It's not as large as the King or Queen's dragons much less Vhagar....but it's dangerous....it eats other dragons.."

I stopped sharpening and looked at him, "Say what now?"

He nodded, "It's true..." He said, "Some villagers saw it kill a small wild dragon! It ate it, ripped the flesh from its neck and ate it!"

"Hm..." I said, "A cannibal dragon...that's unusual...but.....interesting indeed.....Very well...."

"I will handle it."

*************

Later that night, I began my hike where I felt the presence of a dragon. I can only assume that this is the black one that cannibalizes considering that its presence and the magic I can sense is quite potent.

"Hm..." I said as I walked up the slope, "A Cannibal..."

There is magic in dragons, which is convenient for me, obviously. I can drain the magic from the dragons and I already went to the Castle and drained the magic from the dragons under there. But I haven't encountered these two; the Greyghost and Cannibal. So I'm interested to see how much magic I can drain from them.

My only guess is that the Cannibal will give me more but who knows.

These Targaryens....

I have been thinking a lot about them. I can only believe that their ancestors became so-called dragonlords after performing blood-rituals, binding them with the blood of the dragons. According to the tomes, Old Valyria is where all this shit happened and any and all knowledge on that matter was lost in the Doom.

Some sort of volcanic eruption caused the destruction of Old Valyria and only the Targaryens survived. Well, some other Valyrian Houses managed to flee but the Targaryens were the only dragonlords. They came to this island with some dragon eggs and the big guy himself. They were here for a while before Aegon Targaryen, the Conqueror, decided to conquer the entirety of the continent with his Sister-Wives.

Balerion, Vhagar, and Meraxes are the names of the dragons that were used in the Conquest.

"Must have been one hell of a war..." I said with a smirk as I reached the top of this small mountain, "I would have loved to seen it....nothing compared to the Northern Inquisition, I bet. Nor the Elven Insurgency...."

I immediately felt a presence in the shadows the moment I took another step. There was a deep growl, followed by a loud thud.

I looked to my left to see a massive outline in the darkness, thanks to my darkvision. There were two glowing green eyes staring me down as the growl got louder and deeper. So this was the black dragon that cannibalized on other dragons.

"Hm..." I said with a smirk,

"Look at you...."

[A/N: Reminder that by this Tuesday, I will rotate out to The Beauty, The Bold, and The Black Dread and will work on that story for a week as well.

Another heads up, I am thinking of moving these two stories to Patreon but nothing is for sure. I will update you all soon, though.]
