Chapter 15: You are Handsome
shock at the one who knocked on the door.
'What is Amira doing here?!' The question struck her as she saw Amira all simp with Summer.
Summer led her in after chatting for a while and walked her to the sitting room.
Taking a seat and Amira doing the same, she introduced Amira to Marina, "This is Amira and Amir, this is Marina; the bitch my brother married."
"We meet again," Amira said as she extended her hands to Marina for a shake.
All the while, Marina was just staring in shock, she couldn't believe her eyes. The lady her sister-in-law called her friend is her long-term enemy, at first, they were friends but now, enemies.
Amira never wanted good for her and she couldn't even start to think about what she got up her sleeves.
"You know each other?" Summer feigned ignorance as she watched their exchange with a smile.
"Is the food ready?" She asked as she stood up and walked to the kitchen.
In the kitchen, the maids were done cooking and they were focused on dishing the food into their respective containers.
Very soon, they were done and they started arranging it on the dining table.
"Can you call your husband or are you guys still busy chatting?" Summer asked with a smirk playing on her lips.
"I will," Marina managed to say after dispelling the shock from her face.
Amira had already stood up from her seat and walked to where her friend was, they settled in their seats and the only person they were waiting for was Aiden.
"He will be home soon, very soon." Marina relayed the information she got from calling Aiden to Summer.
She also sat down on her chair, staring deeply at Amira. Then she started a conversation, "So, how is your boyfriend doing?"
"Huh?" Amira looked up at her, surprised as she didn't expect Marina to start confronting her on that issue.
"He's fine," she replied after calming herself down.
"How are you able to sleep through the night knowing that you crashed someone else's wedding?" Marina couldn't help herself but ask again, this was something that she had been so eager to learn about. The reason Amira did what she did.
She had been dying to confront Amira, not because she still loved Jayden but because she was surprised that her friend hated her to the extent of spoiling her marriage.
"Marina, what do you want? Just say it, call me whatever you want." Amira said, hitting her hands on the table while staring at Marina.
The air was getting thick and hard for them to breathe. The enmity emanating from the two was enough to kill someone.
"Can you guys give me a break?" Summer said, and that managed to dispel the drag between the two.
But then, Marina faced Summer and said to her, "Sister, you seriously shouldn't be seen with the likes of her. She is never a good friend and can never be one so watch your back."
"What.." Summer wasn't able to complete her statement when Aiden came inside the mansion.
"And what is wrong here? I thought it was supposed to be a dinner not a fight of words," they heard Aiden's voice and the once-heated mansion cooled down.
"Oh…brother, you are back," the sane one among them said, standing up to give him a hug which Aiden rejected.
Aiden walked towards Marina's seat and gave her a peck on her cheeks before moving on to go to their room but then he spotted someone.
He turned his back and looked at Amira and then Summer, "You didn't tell me that your friend will be here."
"I did," Summer chuckled lightly as she said, "But you didn't listen."
"I…" Aiden was about to say something but decided against it. He faced Marina and then said, "I want to quickly freshen up, I'll come back soon."
"Alright," Marina replied as she watched him leave.
She turned her eyes back to meet Amira to see her giving her a deep glare. A smirk instantly formed on the lips as she said, "Is Jayden not enough, or do you plan to also steal my lawfully wedded husband?"
"Come off, Marina," Amira chuckled, "It's not called stealing if the man comes willingly. He doesn't like you, when will you accept that?"
"There are guys out there who will know if they like you and want to be with you straight away, so why did he have to be on the verge of getting married to someone before he knew that his heart belonged to you? Amira, don't you think something is wrong there? Don't you think that you should also be afraid?"
The words Marina said managed to leave an impression on Amira as her face darkened and she thought about the possibilities of what Marina said. It was something she had also been thinking about, what if Jay also left her on her wedding day?
Soon, Aiden came back spotting a trouser and baggy top. He drew out the chair beside Marina and sat down on it.
"So, what's for dinner?" He asked as he stared at them all, then he added, "And can you guys stop all this awkwardness? Is she someone you know, Marina?" He asked, now facing Marina.
Marina sighed then replied, "Yes, she was my friend and she is the reason my ex-boyfriend refused to marry me."
"Oh…figures the tension," Aiden uttered, nodding his head.
As they dished their food, Amira couldn't stop looking at Marina and even though they didn't talk again, their eyes were fighting.
The sound of silver hitting the plate filled the place as they started eating. They maintained good table manners all through as none of them uttered a word except for when needed.
And soon, they finished their meals and the maids came forward to pack their plates.
Aiden stood up from his seat and headed upstairs and Marina followed suit.
"I thought you and my sister would still want to discuss," Aiden uttered as he saw Marina following him. He assumed she followed him because of something else.
"No, not really. I want to see you," she replied and he was curious.
"What's it about?" He asked her.
"Let's discuss in the room," she responded and they both climbed the stairs leading to their room.
Inside the room, Aiden removed his top and his well-defined abs were visible. Marina's eyes traveled there and she traced her eyes from his chest down to his abs almost leading to his little brother below.
"Ahem," Aiden made a sound to draw her attention back, he chuckled lightly as he said, "Are we here to discuss or to stare at my abs?"
"Oh…I'm sorry," Marina quickly cautioned herself, a blush already forming on her cheeks.
"So, what's it about?" He asked again, moving towards the small fridge in their room.
He bent a little and brought out a bottle of water from it. He opened it and gulped a mouthful, a little spilling over his chest.
Marina swallowed hard, and she could swear she had forgotten what she was about to say then.
"Sorry about that, so?" Aiden raised an eyebrow as he looked at her while closing the water back.
He went and sat down beside her, and faced her staring at her keenly.
"I must say, you are so handsome," Marina blurted out, unable to caution herself from saying her inner thoughts.
As she sat down there, all she could say in her mind was the fact that her husband was a demiGod and so desirable. More reasons to be cautious of Amira because one thing is never enough for her.
"Huh?" Aiden said, tilting his head to face her properly, "I'm afraid I didn't catch that."
