Hokage Teacher: With Dimensional Teacter System

Chapter 42: Chapter 43: The Tournament Begins

Evening, Uchiha Clan Compound.

"Obito, don't eat so fast, or you'll choke."

Hearing his grandmother's words, Obito slowed his eating pace slightly and explained,

"Grandma, a friend invited me to hang out."

"Which friend? Is it Rin?" Obito's grandmother asked with a knowing smile.

Since Nohara Rin often visited to play with Obito, his grandmother was quite familiar with her.

"Well, she's one of them, but there are others too," Obito replied while still shoveling food into his mouth.

With the Youth Ninjutsu Tournament starting tomorrow, Obito had spent the entire day training seriously, leaving him utterly exhausted.

Perhaps because he and Kakashi would once again be competitors, Rin had invited them to relax and hang out in the evening. Obito also called Might Guy to join since Kakashi would be there.

"I'm done!" Obito wiped his mouth after finishing his meal and hurriedly got ready to leave.

Watching him at the entrance, his grandmother chuckled and said,

"Do your best, Obito. I'd like to see a great-grandchild someday."

Obito nearly tripped, turning back with a flushed face as he yelled,

"Grandma, I'm still in school!"

Although the idea had crossed his mind, he felt it was way too early at his current age.

The group planned to meet on the southern streets of the main city.

When Obito arrived, the other three were already there, making him the last to show up.

"I ran into an elderly lady who needed help on the way, so I got delayed," Obito explained.

"You always seem to run into elderly ladies. This happens every time," Kakashi remarked skeptically.

"I can't help it! But if I see someone in need, I can't just ignore them," Obito defended himself, feeling a bit wronged since he really had helped an elderly lady.

"Alright, it's fine. Maybe Obito is just naturally kind and has a sharp eye for spotting people who need help," Rin said with a gentle smile, stepping between the two to defuse the situation.

After this small interruption, the four of them began strolling through the bustling streets.

"There are so many people! Kakashi, how about we compete to see who can navigate the crowd fastest?" Guy suggested, his competitive spirit already ignited.

"No, thanks," Kakashi declined flatly, crushing Guy's hopes without hesitation.

"There's an event happening on this street tonight, so naturally, a lot of people have gathered," Rin explained.

She led the group to the heart of the activity, where the street was lined with vendors under bright lights, and people dressed in yukatas strolled about in pairs.

"Look at this! The goldfish are so cute!" Rin exclaimed, spotting a goldfish scooping stall and waving to the others.

"Would you like to try, miss? It's only ten ryo for one scoop," the vendor tempted with a smile.

"Ten ryo..." Rin hesitated, contemplating the price. It wasn't much, but the fragile paper scoops made success uncertain.

"I'll give it a shot!" Obito volunteered enthusiastically, handing the vendor ten ryo.

He immediately targeted the liveliest and most beautiful fish but ended up breaking the scoop after just a few attempts.

"One more!" Unfazed, Obito tried again, only to fail once more.

By the ninth attempt, Rin intervened, stopping Obito and saying,

"Let's just leave it. We can explore other stalls."

Eighty ryo was enough to buy a bowl of ramen, after all.

"But I've already practiced so much! If I give up now, all my effort will go to waste," Obito said, hesitating.

"Let me give it a try!" Guy, who had never played this before, rolled up his sleeves and prepared to catch the fish in one swift move.

Snap! The stick holding the scoop broke instantly.

"Let me do it," Kakashi said calmly, handing over ten ryo. With a single motion, he successfully caught a goldfish.

"Here you go," Kakashi said as he handed the packaged fish to Rin.

"Thank you, Kakashi," Rin said, smiling brightly. Then, she added,

"And thank you, Obito and Guy, too."

Obito, who had been sulking, immediately broke into a silly grin.

The group continued to explore, trying out shuriken target practice, identifying shadow clones, and other fun activities.

When the crowd started thinning out, they decided to buy some takoyaki before heading home.

"Kakashi, just wait and see! I'll definitely take first place tomorrow," Obito declared confidently, biting into a piece of takoyaki.

"If you really want the first-place prize, I can win it and give it to you," Kakashi retorted with a rare show of sharpness.

The exchange left Guy so fired up that he wished there were a Youth Taijutsu Tournament where he could challenge Kakashi properly.

The next day, since it was Sunday, there were no classes.

The tournament was scheduled for the afternoon, so Obito spent the morning doing some last-minute training.

The Youth Ninjutsu Tournament was being held on a commercial street in the main city.

Obito had heard it was initially organized by an elderly ninja shopkeeper to encourage academy students. Over time, as people realized it attracted large crowds, other sponsors chipped in, making it an annual event.

"Obito, what jutsu are you planning to use this time?" Rin asked.

"Great Fireball Jutsu," Obito replied without hesitation.

"Not the Great Dragon Fire Jutsu you used during the last exam?" Rin asked curiously.

During the last practical test, Obito had lost to Kakashi, scoring nine points lower while using the Great Fireball Jutsu.

"This time is different. My Great Fireball Jutsu is much stronger now!" Obito said confidently, convinced his technique would leave everyone in awe.

"Alright, I'm looking forward to your performance," Rin said with a warm smile.

"Obito, do your best! As my rival, you'll have to surpass 'that man' to beat me," Guy said, crossing his arms with a profound expression.

"You want me to leave?" Kakashi chimed in, breaking his silence.

How could they strategize about defeating him right in front of him?

"Kakashi, what jutsu are you planning to use?" Rin asked with a light laugh.

"I haven't decided yet. I'll probably use Earth-Style: Mud Wall," Kakashi said thoughtfully.

It wasn't an attempt to show off. He genuinely had a wide array of jutsu to choose from, making the choice somewhat arbitrary.

Obito scanned the crowd and noticed several familiar faces from the academy and even two genin with forehead protectors.

"There are more people here than last time," Obito remarked, recalling the previous tournament.

"Probably because the prize has increased. This year's first-place winner gets a finely crafted silver-plated kunai and 8,000 ryo in prize money," Rin explained.

"8,000 ryo?!" Obito's eyes widened as his resolve to win solidified further.

That amount would be perfect for treating Rin to a nice meal or buying her a thoughtful gift.

"The tournament is starting now! Would Contestant #1 please step forward and perform?"
