Chapter 339: Strange pendant
It was a normal day and we weren't really doing anything.
The hero party had gone off to deal with other things since they had become quite famous after the matter with the Deter Kingdom.
They had raised their reputation by quite a bit and there were many other nations that were requesting their assistance now.
However, it wasn't as if every single matter needed the help of the high elves.
As such, it wasn't as if we needed to accompany them on every single one of their outings.
That was why we had the free time to go shopping.
It was better to say that I had been dragged out shopping by the others.
They seemed like they couldn't be cooped up all day, so they just wanted to get out and spread their wings.
But the place that they chose to go was the market even though we had been here quite a few times already.
Even in a different world, I couldn't get out of shopping with women.
So instead of going out to hunt monsters or learn more about the humans, we went shopping.
It seemed that even the most restrained member of our group was into this as well.
Even if Fae was a shy girl, she was still a girl in the end and enjoyed things like this.
I didn't really know what to do, so I just stood there on the side.
That was until someone suddenly said, "Take a look at that pendant."
I was surprised since I didn't expect this voice, but I recognized this voice. The thing was that the one that spoke wasn't one of the high elves that I was with.
Rather it was the spirit of the ancestor that was possessing her descendant.
I looked around after she said this before asking in a soft voice, "What do you mean? Which pendant?"
I really couldn't figure out what she was talking about since we were currently in a trinket store. There were all kinds of different pendants that were around us and I wasn't sensing anything strange, so I had no idea what she was talking about.
In the end, Sylpha showed herself and floated over to one of the tables.
Of course, she made sure that she was only visible to me or else it would have caused a large mess if a transparent elf suddenly appeared.
I went over to the table and looked at the pendants that were there, but I still couldn't find anything special about it. That was why I had to ask, "Which one?"
This time, Sylpha didn't answer right away as she floated there above the table.
This really didn't inspire any confidence in me since it seemed like she had no idea what she was doing.
But in the end, she picked out two different pendants.
"Are you sure about this?" I asked her.
She just responded with a single nod.
Sylpha was an ancestor of the high elves, so I should be able to trust her judgement even if I didn't sense anything coming from it. So the only thing that was left to do was to buy these pendants.
"Is there something I can help you with?" One of the attendants came over when they saw that I was looking closely at the pendants.
I had already noticed them a long time ago, but I didn't say anything since I didn't want to make the first move. Making the first move was a tactic when it came to negotiating a price and naturally I wanted to keep it in my pocket.
After they came over, I said, "I'm interested in some pendants, but I can't really find anything that suits me. Do you have any more in the back?"
The attendant shook his head before saying, "Unfortunately, these are all of the pendants that we have on sale currently."
I gave a nod in response before looking at the pendants again.
Then I suddenly pointed at a few of them and said, "So what are the prices on these ones?"
The thing was that the ones that I pointed at weren't the ones that Sylpha had pointed out.
The attendant took a look before bringing an abacus over to show me the price.
I immediately shook my head when I saw this before saying, "This is just too much."
The attendant said with an awkward smile, "Dear customer, this is already our best price."
"Then at the very least, you should be offering some kind of deal, right? Or even some kind of freebie since I'm buying this much." I said while looking at the pendants still.
The attendant didn't say anything at first, but I could tell that he was thinking about it.
So I suddenly looked up and turned as if I was about to walk away.
When he saw this, he suddenly said, "Wait, sir. Since you are buying this much, I think that we can give you some kind of discount."
He quickly tapped a few things on his abacus before showing me the new price.
The price wasn't that much different, but it was smaller than before.
I shook my head with a dissatisfied look before saying, "At the very least, I want these ones as well. They aren't that special so give me a freebie."
The ones that I had pointed to were the ones that Sylpha pointed out.
The attendant was surprised to hear this, but it didn't seem like he was against this.
I had made sure that the ones that Sylphe picked out weren't that special, so even the attendant wouldn't be able to notice anything.
The material that these pendants were made of wasn't that good in the first place.
So it was easy for me to convince the attendant to give up these things.
If I discovered something special with these pendants, it wasn't as if this store would be able to say anything since they didn't know what was special about it.
With that, I got a good price and got the items I wanted without drawing any suspicion.
