Hellbound With The Vampire King

Chapter 76: Eager To Get An Explanation

She flipped to the next page to continue reading about the detailed information on the different vampire eye colors, her eyes scanning through the page when she stumbled upon one image.

Serena gasped in shock as her gaze lingered on the last image on that page.

'Black eyes are often depicted as soulless or belonging to dark vampires.' Serena continued to read about it.

'Vampires with this eye color are those who had gone insane for power and could no longer survive without drinking blood.' She gasped as her eyes flew to the image under that description.

What really struck her was that the eye was completely black — no white, no pupil, nothing. It was just black.

Serena could relate to why they refer to this eye color as 'soulless vampire', because even as she stared at the image she felt chills running down her spine because of how dark it was. Serena mentally prayed that she would never come across such vampire.

Frowning at the image, she read further, storing every bit of the information she'd just learned safely at the back of her mind.

So far she had seen the ones with red eyes and green eyes.

Serena was yet to get to the part where she would find out how vampires survive when the words Aurora told her flooded her mind.

She tried to focus her mind on finding new information but the more she tried the more frustrated she was getting. Serena just could not concentrate on the book anymore. She felt like yanking her hair in frustration. Who the hell was Ava?

"This won't do. I can not just sit here making myself depressed while the cause of my depression is out there, probably in the arms of another lady.'

"Ah… umm!"

"Thud!"

"Screech!"

Aurora and Astrid, who were standing outside, entered the room instantly when they heard the noise coming from the private lounge. They turned to see Serena standing at the table, her hair flying wildly. If they didn't know better, they would have thought she was a goddess of fury, as her face was contorted in anger.

Her chair was pushed back with a screeching sound as she stood up so suddenly. The boook she had been holding a while ago was lying on the floor, dropped from the force she had used to stand up.

'What was in this book that made my lady so upset.' Aurora thought as she walked towards her, bending down to pick the book back up.

"My lady, what is the matter? Is there anything in this book that you did not like?" Aurora asked as she looked at the book title.

The servant seemed to think that there was nothing in this book that could have made her angry, as this book was almost like basic knowledge for little kids who were still growing, to help them understand what it was like to be a vampire.

Serena looked at her, suddenly feeling embarrassed to her bone about the way she had stood up earlier. She took a deep breath to calm her nerve. "There's nothing wrong with the book. But I would like to see Eiravyn." Serena said calmly.

Aurora gasped. 'Did she just address His Majesty by his name?' The girl was shocked, she looked at Serena like she had grown two heads.

"My lady, you can't say that in public. You should never refer to His Majesty by his name. It's a huge taboo, and if the knights hear you, you will be beheaded."

Serena really wanted to scream right now. She wanted to see Eiravyn right now and was not in the mood to get lectured. She knew it wasn't the girls 's fault as they did not know her role in the kingdom. She wanted badly to tell her she was his mate and Eiravyn had allowed her to call him by his name, but she held back as she thought they might not even believe her.

And it would only cause chaos since they already assumed that Ava or whatever her name was would be their queen.

Serena sighed. "I really need to see His Majesty right now it's urgent. Can you take me to him?" She asked in a very low voice that the servants barely heard her.

Before Aurora could respond, Astrid took the reins in the conversation. She was not sure who Serena was but for her to stay in the chamber meant for their queen can only mean one thing. She was sure Serena was not an ordinary person, her sister just could not see it.

"I don't know why you ask to see His Majesty and I'm not really sure where he is right now but we can go check the study room." Astrid said.

Serena could not be more satisfied. "Thank you."

With that Serena walked out of the lounge and headed back to her bedchamber.

Unfortunately, other than flip-flops she had worn during her journey to the kingdom, there were only shoes meant for special occasion, and she was not dressed enough to wear any of those. Serena didn't have any other footwears, so she opted for flip-flops.

She was about to open her room door, when she heard Astrid speaking behind her.

"Please my lady, if His Majesty query you for coming to see him…"

Before Astrid could complete her statement Serena cut her off and said. "You don't have to worry about that, I will take full responsibility for whatever happens." She spoke in a calm voice that Astrid felt reassured.

Serena was not a fool to not know how things worked around here. It was obvious that her servants could get into big trouble for allowing her go into the king's study.

She didn't let them talk her out of going there because she was already striding down the halls.
