HDXD: Omni Harem System

Chapter 218: The Exam's Begin

Adam stepped out of Nyx's office, the faint lavender scent clinging to his uniform as he made his way down the corridors.

The walls, sleek and metallic, glowed with embedded holo-screens flickering with exam schedules, planetary maps, and warnings about xeno-ecological hazards.

By doing this, the students could read up on their task before hand, it was publicly post in all the signs, screens, and even email to the students before hand so they can prepare.

As he passed more students.

He could feel and sense their desires, the majority where nervous after all.

Few where excited, thirsty for battle, and glory.

Everyone wanted to make a name for themselves.

But few had the grits needed to accomplish such feats.

As the room was thick with tension, the students rushed past, some muttering nervously, others puffing out their chests, of course the majority where nobles with alot of arrogance.

Adam couldn't help but smirk.

Bunch of wannabe aspiring heroes and hunters, he thought, was about to get a reality check.

With only a few of them for sure where going to surpass their limits this very exam.

To separate the diamonds from coal.

Truly this was a wonderous day indeed for Adam.

"Honestly a lot of worthy people worth to steal indeed."

He said to himself as he pushed through the heavy doors of the training room, and the noise hit him like a wave.

The massive chamber was a chaotic mess of bodies and voices, at least a hundred students crammed inside, their competitive and nervous desires buzzing like massive nest of hornets.

The room was a high-tech colosseum, walls lined with glowing panels, overhead drones zipping around to monitor gear checks, and a massive holo-display floating in the center, cycling through images of times multiple planets and their deadly terrains.

But only three where currently highlighted.

Some students were hyping each other up, others stood alone, eyes darting nervously. Adam's gaze swept the crowd, picking out the ones who stood out.

There was Kael Draven, leaning against a pillar with that infuriating grin he had come to hate when he played him as an mc in his own game world.

He was the cocky, and extremely boastful type of Main Character.

Tossing a plasma knife between his hands like it was a toy. The guy had shit ton of abilities related to vast array of energy manipulation type powers.

In his verse he was truly overpowered, and within it his arrogance was truly unmatched as it led him to think he was better than anyone else, but Adam knew better.

Kael's massive ego was a liability.

Still he was from a visual novel called Star Killer. Even in earlier iteration.

Kael could produced or generate enough energy to blow up entire planets with ease.

How he fairs here in this new AU is a mystery to him though.

Meanwhile near the edge of the room, Lira Sidney sat cross-legged on the floor, her sharpshooter rifle disassembled in front of her, each piece cleaned with obsessive care.

She was the main female character of the Visual Novel name EvaX.

Unlike Kael, she didn't talk much, but her cold precision made her dangerous.

In her universe her abilities revolve around the universe unique power system of generic mutation cause from Hora-Eclipse that made humans undergo mutation.

She starts out as a low rank, but quickly rise in power. Unlike Kael though she might be dangerous as her long range Hora, or anthem if Adam had to guess by logic of this AU.

She basically can manipulate coordination, and increase her focus, in layman terms she can manipulate or rather she decide what damage is and how much damage her bullets can generate.

In the end part of the game she can one shot entire universes with her infinite bullet attack.

And then there was Zanthe Quill, hunched over a workbench, muttering to himself as he tweaked a drone before the exam starts.

Zanthe tech obsession made him a wildcard, but Adam figured he would crack under pressure. Compare to some other here, he was basically one of the more grounded main characters.

But even then an asset is an asset, and Box of Worth was going to eat a lot in this exam as he plan to kill as many main characters as possible to further increase his own power.

"Perfect."

Adam thought, rolling his shoulders. As student council president, he didn't have to be here, but he wasn't about to miss the chance to outshine these hotshots and siphon their skills to fuel his own power.

It was time to show them who was boss, he was no main character, rather he likes to see himself as self insert more than anything else, which he like of was.

This universe wouldn't even exist, if he didn't made his Beatrice.

But as think of his true intentions.

A gravelly voice cut through the chatter like a blade.

"Line up for your Nanomites Bracelets please."

Professor Toren Kade stood at the front, his cybernetic arm glinting under the harsh lights, his scarred face set in a permanent scowl. The guy looked like he had fought countless battles.

And his presence shut everyone up fast.

Students scrambled into a ragged line, clutching their gear bags, the air heavy with anticipation and a hint of fear.

Adam started toward the line, his mind already racing with strategies to dominate on C-6372, when a familiar voice stopped him.

"Adam, hold up"

Nyx waved him over from the side of the room, her jet-black hair flowing in her face.

As he sauntered over, weaving through the crowd, ignoring the curious glances from a few students.

"What's good sweetheart."

He asked, leaning against a nearby console, arms crossed. His tone was easy, but he was curious, but Nyx didn't pull him aside for nothing.

She flashed a sly grin, reaching into her jacket. Her hand vanished for a second into that freaky dimensional pocket of hers, within her breast.

To him it was still weird, even after all these years, he could never take Minerva and her seriously who seem to idolize their ability to create spacial domain within those areas.

For Minerva it was her Lore Ability.

For Nyx she just manipulate the truth behind her cleavage, and made it into freaky pocket dimension.

Perks of her variant ability of being Minerva's spawn and apostle.

But nevertheless she pulled out a sleek, obsidian bracelet from between her breast.

Unlike the normal one this one had tiny runes etched into its surface, as it glowed faintly, in and out.

"Sorry for calling you out like that darling, but I forgot to give you this."

She said, tossing it to him.

Instantly Adam realize it was Nanomites bracelet.

"It is not like the standard bracelets the other students are getting."

She explained then continued.

"This one is… special you see."

Adam caught it, turning it over in his hands. It was heavier than it looked, cool against his skin, and it vibrate with a low energy that sent a shiver up his arm.

'Dark Astrum... Eh? So this thing is what you get when your combine Magic with technology, a fascinating creation indeed.'

'Still, I have never seen this type of spirit language before, now this is intriguing. I will asked Nyx if she aware of how powerful this thing might be later.'

He said to himself, then his attention shift to her as he asked.

"Special how?"

He asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Well for one, it's a new version, we plan on giving this to the top students but we don't have a willingly participant to try it out."

Hearing this he looked at Nyx and said.

"So you are trying to turn me into a science experiment?"

Nyx laughed, a low, warm sound that cut through the room's chaos.

"Kinda. Given the things inside this aren't nanomites. They're called quantum-mites. They work on a subatomic level, rewiring your body from the ground up...strength, reflexes, adaptability, and much, much more. With this Demons won't give humans a hard time if we complete it. As it is way more powerful than the standard tech. But they're still in testing like I said, and they might be too much for a small fry or a normal student body... You, though?"

She poked his chest teasingly, her grin widening.

"Your body is a of rare sorts, freak, if not straight up eldritch, between you and Rakasha I don't know has a more scarier version of Shapshifting. So naturally you're the only one who I think about that can handle it if things go south."

"So, I am your guinea pig because I'm built different... Glad to know honey."

"Exactly... I knew you would understand."

Nyx said, her eyes gleaming with love and appreciation.

"Just don't go showing it off. And don't break it. My dad'll have my head if his prototype goes kaput."

"Thanks, Nyxie."

Adam said, his voice softening for a moment. He snapped the bracelet onto his wrist, and it clamped shut with a satisfying click. A faint warmth spread through his arm, like his blood was humming in tune with the quantum mites. His muscles felt sharper, like every nerve was dialed to eleven.

"Oh, this is gonna be fun."

He thought, already picturing how he could use this chest like tech with his supernatural abilities to dominate the exam.

Nyx gave him a small nod, her expression shifting to something almost serious.

"Good luck out there, hotshot. Not that you need it... But still, I will be rooting for you."
