Chapter 61: Chapter 60: 2nd Attack
A few weeks later, I received a letter reply to the one I had sent to the organisers of the Quidditch World Cup.
Dear Mr Bodewig,
We would like to thank you for your generous donation and inquiry, to answer your question we are able to accommodate a private meeting with the teams that will compete in the final, for a nominal fee.
Seats in the minister's box are available for the standard price when tickets are sold, however, for your own private box it will require a more substantial fee as we will need to remodel a section of the stadium to accommodate.
Thank you again,
Ludo Bagman
A smile graced my face as I read the letter during breakfast causing Grace and Daphne who were sitting opposite me to look towards me with interest, "What is that Eric?" Grace asked before frowning when my response was obvious and short, "It's a letter." Daphne having seen my response coming, chuckled slightly before asking, "What is the content of this letter, that has you smiling so much?"
"That, my dear, is a surprise that could help me later. It will not be relevant for this year so let it leave your mind." I said while I stashed the letter into my robes so that they could no longer see it.
They did not appreciate my secrecy however and spent the rest of the week bugging me about the letter or even going so far as to try and steal it from me using magic, they never succeeded.
"Would you two stop," I said while dispelling the summoning charm that was aimed at the letter, "Just tell us already then," Grace said sounding
like a spoiled child while casting another summoning charm.
Daphne on the other hand decided to switch tactics, she walked up towards me while stowing her wand. She placed her arms around my neck and kissed me before leaning in and whispering into my ear, "Gotcha." She had cast into my back while kissing me a body-bind curse causing me to stiffen in her arms before she lowered me to a chair nearby.
Reaching into my robes, she found the pocket that she saw me place the letter into and felt inside. She was sadly disappointed when she felt nothing but an empty pocket and my body heat, "Where is it them Erik?" She asked while I was still at her mercy.
When she cast the counter charm on me, my response was nothing but a smirk and a wandless stinging charm cast at her. After that, they decided that they would never find out if I didn't want them to so they gave up trying. It didn't take long for them to forget all about them due to the fact another student was attacked during the night, one that surprised all of the school.
Theodore Nott was attacked during the night, he was out after curfew along with a fourth-year Ravenclaw student. They were found petrified outside a commonly known make-out closet on the 3rd floor by caretaker Filch.
People were most shocked by the fact that both students attacked were purebloods and since the Heir of Slytherin was expected to be a pureblood who would have the same hate for muggle-borns as Slytherin himself allegedly had, people thought his targets would be obvious.
"What do you reckon they were doing out and by that particular closet?" Grace asked while being in full-on gossip mode while keeping an ear out for the other conversations nearby. "It was pretty obvious that they were secretly dating," I said while eating breakfast, receiving shocked looks from those around me as if my addition to the gossip was surprising.
"What? They had been sneaking around with each other for weeks and were kissing in the library. If that is not enough, we even saw Theodore sneak out of the common room the other day when we were studying all night on the sofas." This caused the information to click inside their brains as they pieced it together.
While they went back to gossiping, I decided to take this chance to look around the tables to try and find who Lucius decided to give the Horcrux to. My eyes slowly scanned across each table before they settled on an unlikely source, Colin Creevy. He looked to be under the weather with dark bags under his eyes which were filled with a fire that should have disappeared due to no-nose's possession.
It seems that Colin may have a stronger will than the Horcrux as it appears that he has his full mental faculties and is using the information no-nose's soul has provided to him. I cannot guess what his agender is but he definitely trying to accomplish something using Slytherin's Snake.
"Colin is not looking so good," I say to Grace since she is familiar with him due to him following her brother around like a lost puppy ever since Harry had allowed him to take his photo. Grace took a moment to look towards the Gryffindor table and verified what I said before speaking her response, "He does look a bit sleep-deprived, maybe he has been studying all night."
"Maybe you should check in with him or convince your brother to do it. That is what we are meant to do, support those younger." Daphne said while looking towards the kid who was struggling to stay awake at the table.
