Harry Potter: Instant Kill

Chapter 60: Chapter 60: The Second Year Officially Starts

The year started surprisingly simply as nothing of note occurred allowing Daphne and I to settle back into the routine we had created the previous year, we would go to class in the mornings sitting through the boring lessons of stuff we had already learnt before we spent the afternoons learning, reading and hanging out.

This had the duel effect of strengthening our relationship while also helping Daphne and me to progress with each other to our ambitions, of course, my ambition was already within reach since it was just to live a fulfilling life. However Daphne's would be a longer journey which I am supporting her through, I am helping her learn what she wishes while teaching her the stuff I am able to and learning with her the stiff we both do not know.

We spent the first months like this, with little to disrupt the rhythm of our routine that is until a certain diary decided to rear its ugly head in the form of a basilisk attack on Halloween. The message left written on the wall caused a lot of animosity to be directed at Slytherin's house from the rest, the other three fearing that the 'Heir of Slytherin' will petrify them or their friends next.

Meanwhile, inside Slytherin's house, people were even more perplexed due to the fact that if an heir of Slytherin was present they would have made themselves known to the house already. Since that had not happened, the students of Slytherin believed it to be a very poor joke that made them a target to the other houses.

"Grace, there is no point dragging us to the library when the information you are seeking will not be in there," I said tiredly due to being dragged by Grace out of bed and towards where she had been spending most of her weekend. "What do you mean it won't be there? why not?" She said pausing her dragging of me to hear me out.

"Well you are looking for ancestral heritage and heirship of Slytherin and as far as I am aware, there are only two places that keep an up-to-date copy of all inheritance rights. One is the ministry which has to keep track in case of line theft and the second is Gringotts which keeps records that are bound by magic." My words seem to snuff out the wind in her sails before a sudden tailwind causes her to start again.

"Gringotts would have a copy, I doubt they would be willing to share any information about who the heir of Slytherin is," she said before smiling and continuing her train of thought, "However ministry records are available to the public and copies can be procured for a minimal fee."

I sighed as her route changed and instead of dragging me by the collar to the library, she started to drag me to the owlery instead, intent on sending an owl right away. I was having a lovely morning too since Daphne had fallen asleep next to me during our early reading time, she had snuggled up to my side and was letting out cute snorts in her sleep.

Alas, my luck seemed to be abysmal as I got taken away from that comfort to witness Grace quickly quill a letter and send it off to the ministry, an event that I did not need to be present for but one that I was forced to spectate. "Did you really have to drag me all the way here for me to watch you write a letter?" I say with a deadpan expression towards the lady who had a smile on her face, causing her smile to falter as she finally realised that there was no point in bringing me along.

After that small fiasco where Grace forgot her senses, she soon discovered along with her brother an ability they didn't know about that they had, Parseltongue. As it turns out, the twins could naturally speak to snakes or that is what I figured since there was no soul piece hitchhiking with Grace.

They made this revelation when Professor Flitwick decided to reinstate the duelling club and they both faced each other, it was unclear who summoned the snake out of the duo but what was clear was the two commands given to it when it tried to strike a bystander.

Naturally, this caused Grace to be on the receiving end of a lot of untrusting gazes as her new ability paired with her schoolhouse immediately shot her to the top of the Slytherin's Heir list. Which to be fair included the entirety of the Slytherin house as well as her brother who was added at the same time as her.

This event however was quickly overshadowed by the start of the Quidditch Cup with the first match between, Ravenclaw and Gryffindor. Of course, I couldn't care less about some people flying on broomsticks while throwing around balls but I still went to all the matches because Daphne was a huge fan.

She may not show it outwardly but she loves quidditch and is excited for every match, she lets it slip every now and then when someone makes a stupid move since she will shout at that player while describing what they should have actually done.

Still, I pretended not to notice as that would embarrass her if I told her, I was just saving it as possible ammunition for if I am forced to make a speech at our wedding or for possibly a future gift. It is at this time that I remember that the Quidditch World Cup shall happen in about two years, perhaps Daphne would enjoy having her own private box and maybe a meet and greet with the teams in the finals.
