Chapter 29: The Charms Professor Who Doubts Life
Ryan is doing better. He has switched from poor contact to flash mode, and the frequency is getting stable. It seems that success is not far away.
But Mikel's side was different. The light on his wand was very unstable. When it was brightest, it was as dazzling as a searchlight. When it was weakest, it was not much brighter than a firefly. It seemed that it might go out at any time.
But the more this happened, the more anxious he felt, and the more anxious he became, the more he couldn't control it. It had formed a vicious cycle.
"Well, you..."
Kyle wanted to help him, but as soon as he opened his mouth, he saw Mikel suddenly take a deep breath, and then the hand holding the wand suddenly lifted up.
For no reason, Kyle suddenly felt an ominous premonition in his heart, as if something terrible was about to happen.
This feeling came so suddenly that Kyle didn't have time to think about it. He turned around almost instinctively, lowered his head, and closed his eyes.
Almost simultaneously, a dazzling light, like an exploding Flashbang, instantly enveloped the entire Charms classroom.
Although the sudden bright light disappeared after a second, its impact was catastrophic.
The bright light directly blinded many little wizards without any preparation. The following second, wailing sounds came from all directions. The little wizards covered their eyes, screamed, pushed, and tried to escape from this place. There was chaos in the classroom.
Even Professor Flitwick was affected, but after all, he was a Professor who had experienced strong winds and waves. He was not as panicked as the little wizard. He endured the discomfort while comforting everyone with a sharp voice.
"It's okay, don't panic, everyone, calm down, you will see it after a while."
Although Professor Flitwick had tried very hard, he had achieved little success, and the classroom was still in a state of chaos.
For those who didn't know, maybe someone thought Voldemort had broken into Hogwarts.
In addition, his direction was reversed. The whole process was with his back to the little wizard, shouting at the wall behind him.
This made the four wizards in the painting extremely disgusted. Although they were also shocked, the portrait was not a living person after all, and there would be no subsequent impact.
So, in their opinion, Flitwick's behavior at this time was stupid.
…
At this time, in the Charms classroom, the only ones who could remain normal were Kyle, who had avoided risks in advance and a few lucky ones.
But they had no other choice but to try their best to comfort their companions and help up those little wizards who fell down to prevent stampedes.
It was not until a few minutes later that the aftereffects of the bright light slowly subsided, and the little wizards regained their vision.
"Oh, Merlin's beard. What a disaster."
Professor Flitwick rubbed his eyes and came down from his desk tremblingly.
He just wanted to come down to comfort the little wizard, but he missed the step and fell down because he didn't notice that the direction was reversed.
Professor Flitwick was furious.
He has been in the industry for decades. He has experienced numerous emergencies, large and small, such as a Levitation Spell hitting someone, a Levitation Charm summoning a cow, or an Unlocking Charm blowing up a lock. He had seen it all before and was not surprised at all because these were within his expectations.
As freshmen, they are not proficient in magic, so it is normal for something to go wrong.
However, Professor Fitwick never thought that something as safe as the Wand-Lighting Charm would cause accidents.
Professor Flitwick brought the resentment and expectations of all the little wizards all the way to the culprit.
Mikel lay motionless on the table. Professor Flitwick called him several times, but there was no reaction at all, and he still lay there peacefully.
Professor Flitwick also noticed something was wrong and quickly came to Mikel's side to check and come to a conclusion.
"He's still alive, probably in a coma caused by overdraft of magic power."
Hearing this, Kyle also breathed a sigh of relief.
The magic overdraft here does not mean that the blue bar is empty but that there is no energy, which is equivalent to an ordinary person who has not slept for two days and two nights.
…
Professor Flitwick's eyes were a little distracted.
Magic overdraft? Just because of a Wand-Lighting Charm?
This was the second time he doubted his life in just a few minutes. He even wondered if he had stayed at Hogwarts for too long and was a little ignorant.
Because throughout the thousand-year history of the Wizarding World, Professor Flitwick had never heard of anyone fainting from exhaustion after casting the Wand-Lighting Charm.
"Professor, how about I send him to Madam Pomfrey first?"
Seeing Professor Flitwick freeze in place without saying a word, Kyle said tentatively. "It's not good to lie down like this all the time. It's better to go check it out."
"Yes... We need to check him out. Take him there quickly."
…
After getting Professor Flitwick's permission, Kyle quickly used a Levitating Spell on Mikel and then took him out of the classroom.
Initially, according to Professor Flitwick's character, seeing this scene would have definitely given him extra points, but now... we are lucky that he didn't deduct any points from Hufflepuff.
…
Not long after leaving the classroom, Kyle saw a cat squatting in the corner. It was not a cat girl, but a real cat, with two amber eyes staring at him unblinkingly.
"Mrs. Norris?"
Kyle said quickly. "A little wizard is injured. I need to go to Madam Pomfrey, but I don't know how to get there. Can you help me lead the way?"
Although the location of the Hospital Wing was marked on the map Cedric gave him, he had never been there. He was not familiar with the specific route.
But this cat is different. It has been following Filch for many years and is very familiar with Hogwarts. It must know how to get there as quickly as possible.
It would be great if it is willing to help.
Mrs. Norris tilted her head and looked at Kyle and Mikel floating behind him. She stood up without saying a word and walked towards the stairs on the right.
Is this an agreement?
Kyle hurriedly followed.
The two people and the cat shuttled between the stairs and took a shortcut through a secret passage hidden behind the stone statue. In a few minutes, they arrived at a courtyard outside the hall.
There is a huge floor clock here, so it is also called the Clock Tower Courtyard.
When Kyle arrived here, Mrs. Loris was squatting next to the clock, and she pointed at the stairs behind her with her tail, signaling him to go up.
"Thank you, I'll bring you some dried fish."
Kyle stretched out his hand and wanted to rub Mrs. Loris's cat head, but she dodged it flexibly.
Mrs. Loris glared at Kyle with a warning look, turned around, walked away, and soon disappeared.
"Heh, arrogant."
Kyle had no choice but to withdraw his hand angrily and take Mikel up the stairs.
As long as Kyle keeps going up here, he will reach the Hospital Wing, and this staircase is also fixed, so there is no need to worry that it will turn to another place.
