Chapter 27: First Lesson
Although Kyle never has to worry about sending letters, having an owl of his own at Hogwarts is still better.
Because the phone numbers of the Muggle world and the owls are the same, and they usually represent the identity of their owners.
This is still quite important.
For example, Kyle's mother, Diana, works in the Department of Mysteries of the Ministry of Magic. The management of this department is very strict. Except for special circumstances, the letters sent in at ordinary times must go through layers of screening.
From the identity, ownership, and status of the owl... to the name, identity, and ownership of the sender, and finally, to check whether there are any special substances or evil spells on the letter.
Only after it is confirmed that there are no problems will these letters be sent to the Department of Mysteries in the form of paper airplanes.
This is the rule. Even the letters sent by Kyle are no exception. At least the process is faster.
With the efficiency of the Ministry of Magic, this whole set of processes will take at least one day.
But with Laton, it's different.
Diana can apply for Laton to be a special owl. While letters are processed first, the screening process can be simplified a lot. It only needs to check the owl's status, the sender's name, and whether there is a curse on the letter. It can be done on the spot.
At Platform 9, Diana specifically told him this, asking him to try to choose the same owl when sending letters in the future, and if it doesn't work, go to Diagon Alley to buy one.
He already has Laton now. Why Kyle must spend money?
Perfect solution.
Kyle took out some owl nuts and a few bags of Murtlap jerky and pushed them in front of the owls together with the chestnuts in his hand.
Then he found some clean water, poured two bottles of owl tonic into it, stirred it well, and poured it into a stone trough next to it.
While the owls were eating, Kyle took Laton back to the castle and headed straight to the Hufflepuff common room.
Passing through the barrels in the kitchen corridor, he returned to the Dormitory.
Mikel and Ryan were not there, so they must have gone to the classroom.
Kyle didn't think much about it, so he put Laton on the shelf beside his bed, took the textbook, and left.
In the common room, Kyle met Cedric, who was also about to go out.
"Kyle, I was just about to find you." Cedric walked over quickly and said, "What's your first class?"
"Charms." Kyle shook the "The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 1" in his hand and asked. "What do you want to talk to me about?"
"By the way, this is for you." Cedric handed a piece of parchment to Kyle.
"This is a Hogwarts map that a senior gave me when I first entered school. It clearly marks the location of the classrooms and the changing rules of some stairs. But I don't need it now, so it's just right to give it to you."
Hogwarts is good in every way, but it's too big, and the interior is even more complicated, like a big maze. There is basically no wizard who doesn't get lost when he first enters school, and being late is commonplace.
Fortunately, the Professors also know what's going on. Except for a certain Head of House, other Professors pay no heed to it, verbally reprimand, or symbolically deduct a point, and don't care too much.
Kyle took the parchment and looked at it carefully.
It was just a very ordinary map, but the content was very detailed. It clearly marked all the routes from the Hufflepuff common room to each classroom and specifically noted where you had to wait for the stairs to turn before you could walk.
It was a low-profile version of the Marauder's Map, but it was enough for Kyle.
"Thank you, I really need this." Kyle put away the map and said. "By the way, what is your first class?"
"I'm in Potions... Wait, Potions!"
Cedric was suddenly startled and ran away. "I'm leaving first. Kyle, remember, Potions class is the last thing you can be late for at Hogwarts. You must remember..."
Cedric's voice became smaller and smaller, soon disappearing at the passage's end.
From his performance, it is not difficult to see that Snape should have left him with a deep psychological shadow... or he has left psychological shadows on many young wizards.
Kyle estimated that he could not run away.
"It's a pity, if only Harry Potter could enter school a year earlier."
Kyle shook his head and left the common room immediately afterward.
…
The Charms Classroom is on the third floor, and it is easy to find it by following the map.
When Kyle opened the door, he first saw a pile of books stacked up like stairs and four portraits of unknown people hanging on the wall in front of him.
They were probably some famous wizards, but Kyle didn't know any of them.
On the walls on both sides were the logos of the four Houses, and further down were several long tables.
When Kyle got here, it was still five minutes before class.
It was not early at this time, but there were not many people in the classroom. Even Professor Flitwick was not there.
Kyle found a seat and sat down.
Opposite him sat a few little wizards from Ravenclaw, with people from the two Houses on the left and right, clearly separated.
As nine o'clock approached, little wizards pushed the door in one after another, panting.
Kyle also saw Kanna, but she ignored him and walked past him angrily.
At 8:59, Mikel and Ryan also arrived on time.
"Thank God, we are not late."
After Mikel sat down, he began to pant and complained to Kyle.
"We are lost."
"Oh my God, Hogwarts is simply a maze. We were supposed to go to the third floor, but on the second floor, the staircase suddenly changed its position, and we went up to the fifth floor inexplicably."
"Then we started to walk down again, but after walking for a long time, we found that we were still on the fifth floor."
"We finally came down, but we returned to the second floor... You know, Kyle, we climbed the stairs for 30 minutes, and my legs were almost broken!"
Mikel felt more and more wronged and almost cried.
"Wait a minute, It's a bit confusing. Let's slow down." Kyle rubbed his forehead, thinking for a long time, but still couldn't figure out why they could walk down and still stay in the same place.
Even if you are a road idiot, you should be able to distinguish up and down.
Turning in place has touched the field of metaphysics, which is not the same as magic.
And Cedric gave him no record of these aspects on the map.
"Forget it, let's not talk about this for now." Kyle, who really couldn't figure it out, decided to give up and turned around and asked. "Then how did you find this place in the end?"
"I was brought here." Mikel blushed and pointed to the opposite side and said. "We met a Ravenclaw freshman on the fifth floor. She pulled us down from the spiral staircase and asked us if we were going to the Charms class. If so, we could come with her."
Kyle subconsciously took a look and realized that Mikel was referring to Cho Chang from Ravenclaw.
