Chapter 115: Dead Or Alive? Where Is Kyle!?
Jane was getting worried, it had been over thirty minutes without hearing from him.
Kyle wasn't one to go silent for this long so there had to be a reason for this.
She tried to call him but for some reason, it didn't go through and she couldn't understand why.
It went straight to voicemail but this shouldn't be the case because the phone was being tracked or was it?
The answer was no, Kyle's phone had gone off shortly after Nate had left the area.
This wasn't because of a low battery either so there was no way for Nate to have anticipated it.
Jane was worried and had no other way to contact Kyle, she didn't know any of his friends that she could reach to check in on him.
And there was only one person she could call to support her in this situation, that was Ella.
"Pick up! Pick up!" Jane muttered to herself, pacing around the house.
[[Hello Jane, are you alright?]]
"No! I'm freaking out! I think something bad happened to Kyle," Jane fired immediately.
She didn't hold back because she was aware that this was out of character for him and she couldn't explain it either but her gut feeling told her that he was in trouble.
[[What do you mean he is in trouble? What's going on Jane!?]] Ella was concerned.
She grew to like Kyle and there was no reason why she would be unaffected by any misfortune that befell him.
"He was supposed to meet me but I haven't heard anything from him and his phone isn't going through. I can't shake it but I feel something is wrong," Jane responded.
[[Or his phone could be dead? You do this a lot Jane…]] Ella called her out.
This was one of Jane's negative traits when she liked someone, she became affected by every single thing that they did.
She couldn't help her overthinking and Ella had to stop her friend's mind from spiraling out of control.
"You're right, he is probably fine…" Jane responded, taking a deep breath to calm her mind.
[[Now what do you plan to do with Kyle today?]] Ella diverted the conversation from her friend's fear while still keeping Kyle as the topic of the conversation.
"I don't know… I haven't thought about it…" Jane confessed.
And now that she was thinking about it, it gave her anxiety because the last thing she would want Kyle to think was she was boring.
She had to entertain him like he managed to entertain her, what would she even cook?
Would she be able to cook as good as him?
She couldn't use the same method he used and Ella could tell by her silence that she was overthinking it.
[[No need to overthink it, the best moments are those that happen spontaneously.]] Ella reassured her.
"You're right. Thank you so much, Ella," Jane showed her gratitude before hanging up the phone.
She still couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong and little did she know, she was right.
-
Nate had done the smart thing, he took Kyle's phone with him so the police would track him directly through the GPS.
But the phone died and by doing this, Nate had inadvertently thrown off the police tracking him because they had to use a different path to intercept him.
The blood trail would have been found if the phone had been left there, the police couldn't reach there with their vehicles and would have had to use their foot but they would have been able to track the blood trail.
But by Nate taking the phone, the police no longer had any reason to come to that specific location and simply took a different route to intercept this signal.
And that would throw them off the blood trail, the place the signal was lost was during the time that Nate had taken a wrong turn.
This meant that there was no police coming, at least not for a while.
-
Nate found the end of the trail, it was within a building that looked abandoned, he was frightened and his heart was thumping as well.
Nate knew the police were coming but didn't know how long it would take for them to come here.
This worried him but even in the movies, the police never came on time.
They only came when the chaos was all over but Nate was hoping that this wouldn't be the case.
He was confident in his fighting ability but if there was a gun involved then the chances that he would be successful was close to zero unless he could somehow catch the assailant with a sneak attack.
That was his only hope of coming out of this situation alive, he pushed the door open and the place was dark.
Nate could barely see the trail, the blood was being absorbed by the dusty ground.

All he was met with was darkness and silence.
"... Kyle?" Nate called out in a whisper, taking out his phone and triggering the flashlight but he didn't need to search for long because he heard a painful grunt coming from behind a door that was barely standing.
"Kyle?" Nate called out once again, clutching his bat with one hand because he didn't know who or what was behind that door.
He called Kyle but he wasn't getting any response, he tried to open the door but realized it was locked from within.
"Huh…? Nate muttered the moment his feet came into contact with something damp.
At that moment, he knew whoever was behind that door would give him the answer.
Nate tried to force it open but to no avail. Luckily, he had a metal baseball bat and the old wooden door must have taken a beat just moments ago because it looked like it was on the verge of breaking.
Nate began to pound away at the door with the bat until the door gave way and what he saw next was horrid.
It was Kyle curled up in a puddle of his blood.
