Chapter 625: His Suspicions
Sister Ruan smiled at Luo Huian. However, her smile was stiffer than the stick with which Little Two was playing. She slowly turned and glanced at her husband, who seemed just as agitated as she was at the moment, maybe even more. Brother Du was flustered because of the shocking revelations that were disclosed one after another in front of him.
He glanced at his sister, wondering where they had gone wrong with her. How in the world did she get involved with Liao Liqin? There were a bunch of questions that he wanted to ask his sister, but Brother Du knew that if he asked her anything at this moment, the situation might escalate even further. Even though he was quite furious at his sister for touching a mer who was already married, he still cared for Du De. Brother Du didn't want his sister to get into trouble with Luo Huian.
Especially when he knew that his sister would not be able to beat someone like Luo Huian. Who was Luo Huian? She was the heiress of a big company like the Luo Corporation, and who were they? Even if they sold off their underpants, they wouldn't be able to go against the Luo family.
Brother Du glanced at the mers behind Luo Huian and stiffened when he realised that one of them was a famous CEO who had multiple businesses under his name. One of them was an airline company, namely Rui Airlines, and the other one was a world-renowned F1 racer. He didn't know much about them, but he knew one thing.
Qi Yongrui was a billionaire, while Fan Meilin was close to becoming one!
He glanced at the two of them and turned to look at Luo Huian. "They are–"
"The one in the wheelchair is my official husband, Qi Yongrui, and the one standing next to him is my second husband, Fan Meilin," said Luo Huian, and the next second, she finished speaking, Brother Du closed his eyes. If not for the fact that he was still standing alive, he would have started screaming like he was facing Armageddon.
Seriously, what was Du De even thinking?
Brother Du opened his eyes and smiled at Luo Huian. His smile was worse than his crying as he said to her, "I – I see. Thank you for taking care of our children, Miss Luo. I am really grateful that you…" he looked at his daughter, who was sitting on Luo Huian's shoulders and nearly clutched his chest. "You looked after my children. I don't know if I can even repay you for the help that you have given to our family."
"There is no need to talk about repayment." Luo Huian smiled, but the smile didn't reach her eyes. She glanced at Du De, and Brother Du's heart clenched, and sure enough, he heard her say, "I just hope that you will make your sister understand that there are some things she cannot be careless about."
"You—" Du De's face flushed red; she thought that Luo Huian was talking about her poor job that she had done in babysitting the children. But Brother Du understood what Luo Huian was trying to say. He turned and glared at Du De before saying to her, "Du De! Don't make things any more complicated."
He then turned to look at Luo Huian and bowed his head. "I am really sorry. I will make sure that my sister will learn her lesson and keep her distance—"
"I never said anything about keeping distance," Luo Huian interrupted the mer with a smile. "Just teach her well."
"I—I understand," Brother Du understood that he could not bring the relationship between Du De and Liao Liqin. Thus, he changed his words at once. "I will teach her well."
Du De's expression had turned morbid as she couldn't believe that her brother was bowing his head in front of Luo Huian. So what if this woman had some stinky money? Does it mean that they had to bow their head at the smallest turn? So what if she didn't do a good job while taking care of the children?
Why did her brother apologise to Luo Huian? However, she only dared to think about it and didn't say anything to Luo Huian. Not with Qi Yongrui and Fan Meilin eyeing him with distaste. The two mers have been staring at her with that gaze for a long time as if she had done some great personal wrong.
Luo Huian glanced at the woman. She knew that Du De didn't understand a thing that she said to her brother, and most probably misunderstood her implication. However, she didn't correct her and turned around to leave after exchanging a few more words with Brother Du.
Once she was gone, Du De turned to look at her brother and questioned him angrily, "Why did you bow in front of Luo Huian? That woman at most has some stinky money. Is it worth bowing your head in front of her just because she took care of the children for a few hours?"
Brother Du was stunned when he heard the words of his sister. He rolled his eyes and then said to Du De, "You idiotic woman! Miss Luo was not talking about taking care of the children. She was talking about you trying to seduce her husband. From now on, stay away from Liqin. Do you even understand what kind of troubles we will have to face if you continue like this?"
If not for the fact that they were in public, Brother Du would have loved to slap his sister on the head. How dare she cause so much trouble for him? Did she think that she was a cat with more than nine lives? If Luo Huian wanted to kill his sister, there was more than one way for her to do that.
How could his sister be so foolish? Could she not think things through without him telling her everything?
When Du De heard her brother's words, she blinked her eyes and a second later, she realised what Luo Huian had meant, and her expression turned ugly. That woman, why did she tattle to her brother? Was she a child? Couldn't she have dealt with her on her own? Why did she act like a six-year-old who ran to the parents of her bully?
However, at the same time, she felt quite content and happy as she thought that Luo Huian was too scared to face her. Maybe this was because that woman was a weak F-rank hunter. At that moment, Du De forgot that Luo Huian was someone who could even take down Hollows and Glooms with a single move. How could she even be terrified of someone like Du De, who was only human?
But at that moment, Du De was drowning in the sweetness of defeating Luo Huian, even though she had done no such thing.
"It's not I who seduced Liqin. It's him who keeps clinging onto me," said Du De with a roll of her eyes. She pushed the blame on Liao Liqin to show off how she was wanted by a mer who was already married. "I never tried to get close to him. It was he who kept trying to get close to me; why would I pay attention to a mer who is already married? It's not my fault that Luo Huian is not good in bed and that her husband came to look for me—"
No sooner had she finished speaking, a shadow jumped in front of her and slapped her right on the face.
"You—" Du De was about to snap, but then she saw the face in front of her and was stunned when she realised that it was none other than Liao Liqin.
Her face went slack while Liao Liqin stared at her with a cold look in his eyes. When he was young, he was kidnapped by one of the rivals of his mother and was locked up. Back then, another girl was kidnapped alongside him. The two of them were drugged to the point that they developed a fever, and he, as a mer, was suffering the worst kind of pain because his physique was weaker than others.
Back then, he thought that his life was surely going to get over.
But the little girl who was next to him helped him, and the two of them got out of the warehouse where they were locked up. The two of them ran and ran before passing next to a village. When he woke up, Du De was the one who took care of him and was next to him. She even claimed that she had helped him.
Liao Liqin, who was at a tender age, believed her and started treating Du De really well, but now that he thought about it, Liao Liqin was certain that Du De could never be that girl. Because that girl who placed her life at risk to save his life would never talk about him in such a degrading manner.
