Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe

Chapter 1197: Tale of Feypore

The building was vast, but in ruins. Tall bookshelves could be seen lining the walls, but many of them had either collapsed or were leaning at strange angles.

Adam approached one such bookshelf and retrieved a book from it. But the moment his fingers brushed against the cover, it crumbled away.

"Of course," he muttered under his breath, exasperated. "Who knows how many thousands of years these books have remained in that state?"

"No magical spells could last for that long," the white-robed Adam sighed. "And without the protection of magic, the books were bound to be reduced to that state."

The few books that did remain, however, were little more than rotten bundles of parchments. Their pages had long since been eaten away by mold and insects.

"But not all is lost," said the white-robed Adam with a faint smile. He gestured to the far end of the first floor. "Take a look at that."

Adam had already noticed that place earlier through his Sphere of Resonance, but he still hoped that at least some of the book might have survived the cruel onslaught of time.

Watching another book crumble to pieces in his hand, he shook his head and heaved a helpless sigh. Then, he walked towards the other end of the building.

"So, a place of learning, eh?" He murmured as he walked.

"Looks like it," said the white-robed Adam as he looked around. "We're fortunate that there are hardly any beasts in this city. Otherwise, who knows what those animals might have done to this place?"

"Indeed." Adam nodded, his lips curling up. Suddenly, he stopped and glanced at his fractured self. "You know, you're not such bad company, after all."

He paused for a moment, then sneered. "At least, when you're not lecturing me."

The white-robed Adam's lips curled into a mischievous smirk. "Where do you think I get that from?"

Adam shook his head and turned away. "Cheeky bastard," he muttered under his breath.

On the other side of the floor, faded murals stretched across the cracked stone walls and floor, the images displayed on them either broken or incomplete.

Piles of rubble filled the floor, and thin shafts of sunlight filtered through the gaps in the ceiling, illuminating the dust floating in the air. It was now evident that this place had once been a grand library, but time had stripped it of nearly all of its knowledge.

Adam appeared before a faded mural and pressed his palm against the wall. He focused the Sphere of Resonance over the specific wall and studied its grooves and ridges, trying to paint a picture in his mind.

A few moments later, he couldn't help but frown. "What… what the hell? This mural depicts a global war?!"

That was indeed the case. The mural before Adam depicted a great war, where Magi from all the other continents united against Feypore!

"It's like starting to read a book from the last page." The white-robed Adam rolled his eyes. "How about reading the murals starting from all the way over there?"

He pointed at the leftmost section of the wall.

"Of course, I know that." Adam barked. He walked to the other end, his charred expression shadowed by a frown. "But… is that how Feypore ceased to be? When all the other Magi united against them? How very strange…"

As he walked towards the far left end of the chamber, Adam recalled the tales he had heard of Feypore back in Ulier.

One in particular came to mind… a story about an elven seer.

Legends say that thousands of years ago, even before Feypore had reached its golden age, an elf gifted in the School of Divination was born. She rose to become a powerful Magus and played a key role in guiding Feypore to its future glory.

She had foreseen several calamities, allowing the great city to prepare for them and avoid these disasters one after another. The people of Feypore admired her deeply. Her accurate prophecies earned her the unwavering faith and loyalty of the Magi.

On her deathbed, the elven seer gave one final prophecy…

Darkness would one day blot out the skies, taint their lands, and consume Feypore along with everyone in it.

Initially, the people of the city took her warning very seriously, making numerous preparations for the eventual calamity. But as time passed and no catastrophe arrived, their vigilance faded and their hubris grew.

Then, when they least expected it, the prophecy came true.

Calamity struck, and Feypore was lost. Now all that remained of that glorious ancient civilization were scattered ruins, glorified tales, and faded murals like the one Adam had just found.

It was only now that the youth realized that the elven seer's final prophecy spoke of a global war, where the rest of the world united against Feypore, and brought about its annihilation.

With a heavy heart, Adam stopped before the first mural. It depicted the tale of Feypore, a mighty civilization that had united the four great races of the world into a single, mighty empire.

He took a deep breath, then pressed his palms against the wall. Focusing the Sphere of Resonance on the mural before him, he finally began to study it.

The story began with the fracturing of the first great civilizations. The elves held their kingdoms in the forests, the dwarves ruled vast empires underneath the mountains, the humans maintained loose city-state confederations along the coast, and the gnomes thrived in scattered hill communities.

Each culture was strong in its own domain, but divided from the rest. Then, about seven thousand years ago, from the shattered pieces of these four civilizations, a visionary group of Magi emerged. They sought unity where others only saw division. Through diplomacy, conquest, and arcane authority, they brought the four great races under a single banner.

As time went on, the empire expanded quickly. Trade routes connected distant regions across Tron, fragmented kingdoms of the bygone era were absorbed, and the principles of magical governance spread across the lands.

At its heart, the Magi raised a capital city unlike any other. It was a city of marble halls, beautiful spires, and enchanted streets.

That city came to be known as Feypore, and it would go on to become the greatest civilization Tron had ever seen!
