Great Demon Sun Wukong

Chapter 229: Slaying the Giant Ant (Happy Mid-Autumn Festival)

This powerful entity, mysterious and formidable enough to strike fear into the King of Qin to the point where he couldn't even fathom escape, was the fusion of the two strange beings that had emerged from the swarm of black insects. Astonishingly, this being was instantly killed by a single punch from the Six-Eared Macaque, and there was no visible injury whatsoever.

Looking down at the slowly collapsing strange being, the Six-Eared Macaque let out a heh and grabbed the person's neck, after which the hand clutching the neck suddenly erupted with a swirl of Demonic Qi.

After this jet-black Demonic Qi appeared, it rapidly spread over the body of the strange being. In the blink of an eye, it retracted and re-entered the Six-Eared Macaque's hand. But when they looked at the strange being's corpse again, it had turned into a withered mummy. Devoid of any Spiritual Energy or Energy fluctuations, it was as unremarkable as a roadside rock.

Taking a deep breath, the excitement in the Six-Eared Macaque's eyes grew more intense. However, just as he intended to use that Demonic Qi to absorb more energy, he suddenly stopped and wore a bitter smile. Soon after, pieces of Armor began appearing on the Six-Eared Macaque's body. This turned out to be an automatic Armor Transformation for the Six-Eared Macaque.

As the Armor emerged, the deep red in the Six-Eared Macaque's eyes slowly faded, and the Monkey Hair on his body gradually reverted to its original color.

By the time the full set of Armor had materialized, the Six-Eared Macaque had completely returned to normal. However, in the instant of his recovery, he fainted and plunged headfirst into the sand. Yet at this moment, a mysterious and strange pattern quietly appeared on the Six-Eared Macaque's back.

The pattern seemed incomplete, with many lines suddenly ending abruptly, or perhaps the pattern was only a part of a whole.

As the Six-Eared Macaque fainted, at the Western Gate of the City of Ruins, Jing Potian had already controlled the Lei-Dian Nine-Headed Serpent to successfully annihilate a golden giant ant.

However, the Lei-Dian Nine-Headed Serpent had been reduced to a three-headed serpent, and the surrounding area was littered with pits of various sizes, all filled with scorched sand, indicating just how fierce the battle had been.

Lying at the bottom of the largest sand pit, Jing Potian let out a long sigh, then brought his hands together as if in mourning. As Jing Potian chanted, the Lei-Dian Nine-Headed Serpent that lay gasping beside him began to distort and ultimately transformed into a surge of pure lightning Energy that returned to Jing Potian's left wrist.

Jing Potian's left hand, the one that had been destroyed by the King of Qin and later regenerated in the Thunder Pond through the condensation of thunder and lightning, had disappeared when the Nine-Headed Serpent appeared. But now, as the Nine-Headed Serpent turned into a lightning Energy, a hand manifested again at his wrist, although several fingers were badly broken.

"It seems that this 'Palm Transformation' really shouldn't be used lightly. If the Nine-Headed Serpent gets killed, I'd ruin my hand again. Sigh, I wonder when I'll be able to reach the 'Body Transformation' Realm. At that level, the Nine-Headed Serpent's strength would be infinitely greater than it is now."

Looking at Yao Wumeng and the other three, they were still engaged in a bitter struggle. Although each of them also had their own trump cards, they were not as astonishing as Jing Potian. That Lei-Dian Nine-Headed Serpent was simply too strong, especially with its Destructive Will, which was almost like the Domain Lord of the Annihilation Demon Nation had arrived in person!

However, the three of them weren't weak either. Especially Yao Wumeng—once he transformed into his true form, the Silver Wolf, whether it was Attack Power, defense power, reaction speed, or Recovery speed from injuries, everything increased significantly. He could even wrestle with the golden giant ant. It is known that ants are peculiar creatures that can easily lift several times their own weight.

Hence, the strength of an ant is substantial, although it was not usually apparent due to size constraints.

If an ordinary ant had the height of a human, its strength would be dozens of times that of a human. This demonstrates how strong this golden giant ant was, and yet Yao Wumeng was able to contend against it using his own strength, which attests to Yao Wumeng's might.

At this very moment, Yao Wumeng was squatting on the ground while the two giant swords floated next to him, with Tyrant Sword Juque on defense and Destruction Sword Fenji on offense; in addition, his sharp wolf claws and sturdy fangs were part of his offensive arsenal.

After this round of engagement, Yao Wumeng's back was slashed open by a spine on the leg of the golden giant ant, creating a deep wound. Although the wound was deep, it had largely healed by this moment.

The head of the golden giant ant was covered in a large patch of burnt marks, and there were several long cracks. It seemed to have been burnt by Yao Wumeng's Fenji. After a brief respite, Yao Wumeng's eyes suddenly gleamed fiercely again, and, with all four limbs on the ground, he shot forward, vanishing in the process.

Simultaneously, the golden giant ant also shifted to the left before retreating half a step. The two gigantic mandibles at the corners of its mouth, each four to five meters in length, swiped to the left like curved saw-bladed scythes, effectively blocking the sword strike Yao Wumeng launched from the void.

Moreover, for some reason, as soon as the flames of the Fenji Sword touched the mandibles, they would immediately extinguish, only to burst into a raging inferno again once they left. Hence, when the golden giant ant blocked his strike, Yao Wumeng wasn't surprised. The Tyrant Sword Juque descended from above, aimed directly at the blackened head of the golden giant ant.

However, the golden giant ant was keenly perceptive, and knowing that its head would be Yao Wumeng's target, it suddenly sprung all six legs into action. Its massive body, creating a golden afterimage, spun rapidly on the spot. Meanwhile, using its head to launch an attack, it deflected the Fenji Sword and evaded the falling Tyrant Sword Juque as well.

Yet, at that moment, just as the golden giant ant revealed itself, a punch materialized out of nowhere and struck hard against the side of its head. The formidable force flipped the golden giant ant over. But as the giant ant toppled, its sharp mandibles grazed the front of Yao Wumeng's chest, nearly cleaving him in two. Nonetheless, it still left a massive vertical gash there.

The wound was so extensive that his ribcage was visible. It seemed the golden giant ant had anticipated Yao Wumeng's method of attack and did not attempt to dodge. Instead, it countered his attack with its own. Moreover, in the golden giant ant's mind, when it came to defense, it was stronger than that human.

While Yao Wumeng engaged in fierce combat with the golden giant ant, Bu Yun's situation was utterly dire. Although Bu Yun's true form, the Soul Devouring Insect, was formidable, it felt completely helpless against the golden giant ant and struggled to find a point of attack.

Initially, Bu Yun thought that upon transforming into its true form, it could exploit its size advantage and have a swarm of Soul Devouring Insects burrow into the golden giant ant's body, leaving it nothing but a skeleton no matter how strong it was.

But after inspecting the golden giant ant, Bu Yun realized that it was almost as if the ant was sculpted from gold itself, with no gaps or holes on its body, apart from its mouth, where his Soul Devouring Insects could enter.

Furthermore, the armor's base color posed a significant challenge to Bu Yun – although edible, it was not only astonishingly tough but also exceedingly thick; Bu Yun estimated it to be more than two meters thick.

Most troubling was that the armor contained a kind of formic acid, one of the few things the Soul Devouring Insects didn't like to consume. Additionally, the armor was devoid of any spiritual energy, making eating it akin to a normal person eating candles. Thus, Bu Yun was truly at a loss on how to proceed.

However, the golden giant ant was equally frustrated. No matter how it attacked, even expelling its precious formic acid, it only managed to annihilate a small portion of the black cloud without any further effects. And since the formic acid was valuable, wasting too much of it would strip the ant's armor of its defensive capabilities.

Thus, the golden giant ant spent half the day furiously attacking the dark clouds to little avail.

In contrast to Bu Yun, Hao Chen was having a much better time. At that moment, a stone the size of a fist was continuously landing on the golden giant ant, which roared in anger as its carapace was covered with cracks everywhere.

(Here's the second update, a bit late, sorry. Should Chang'er make an appearance for the Mid-Autumn Festival?)
