Grand Voyage: I Start My Journey With A Ghost Ship!

chapter 64

Yang Yi finds a piece of cloth, wraps the Ironcleaver in it, and shoves the whole bundle into his Greedy Stomach Pouch. For now, it’s best not to use this weapon unless he's facing something enormous. The 9 Strength requirement is just too damn restrictive. If he can just get his base Strength up to 6, though, things will get much easier.
With the Ironcleaver purchased, he’s down to his last 18,000 Conch Coins. He plans to spend the rest on miscellaneous supplies and maybe a new bow if he can afford it. He scrolls through the world channel, but there's nothing but junk. Ranged weapons, especially guns, are a seller’s market right now. He messages a few people but they’ve all sold their inventory already. It’s not looking good.
He decides to buy some essentials first. 120 stone gets him a flint for starting fires. Then he buys two down jackets for 1200 coins, two cotton hats for 800, and four pairs of fleece-lined boots for 2000. It might seem like overkill with the sweaters, but he has no idea how cold the Extreme Winter Sea will get. Better safe than sorry.
[Name: Cotton Hat]
[Type: Treasure]
[Quality: Common]
[Description: Soft and comfortable. Provides good coverage for the head, preventing your ears from freezing off.]
[Name: Fleece-Lined Boots]
[Type: Treasure]

[Quality: Good]
[Description: Thick, with a non-slip sole and a plush fleece interior, perfect for walking on snow. Warm and practical, but not very breathable. Sniffing the inside is not recommended.]
By the time he's done, it’s late. He chugs an Appetizer Potion, scarves down three loaves of sawdust bread and a sausage, drinks a liter of water, and finally passes out.
The next day, the Nightmare sails on. In two days, it will reach the Extreme Winter Sea. Yang Yi is at the prow, fishing.
"Hey buddy, you understand me?" he asks the skeletal figurehead. It just clacks its jaw in response. "Here, try some of my Long-legged Sardines!"
He stuffs a fish into its mouth. The skeleton crunches down, but with no digestive tract, the masticated fish bits just dribble out between its ribs. Well, that was pointless, Yang Yi thinks. The figurehead is just a decoration. Maybe future ship upgrades will change that. He continues fishing, hoping to stock up on Eyeball Fruits to dry into eyeball raisins.
He also keeps an eye on the market for a better bow for Suna. Her current one is pretty useless against anything with thick hide or a shell. He browses all morning but finds nothing. Everything is either too expensive or total garbage. The simple fact is, he’s broke. He just saw an Exquisite [Double-barreled Shotgun] sell for a staggering 40,000 Coins. His ❀ Nоvеlігht ❀ (Don’t copy, read here) remaining 14,000 is pocket change. Buying a new Exquisite-grade bow is a pipe dream.
Maybe I buy a Good-grade bow and upgrade it with that Low-Grade Craftsman's Whetstone?
Then, an idea strikes him. He can't afford a new bow, but what about new arrows? He searches for keywords and hits the jackpot. No exploding arrows, but he finds armor-piercing ones.
[Name: Triangular Armor-piercing Arrow]
[Type: Consumable]
[Quality: Good]
[Description: An arrow with penetrating properties. The head has blood grooves, creating wounds that are difficult to heal and cause continuous bleeding.]
These are way better than the simple iron arrows he can craft. They’re a bit pricey at 300 Coins a pop, but they’re reusable.
"250 a piece, I'll take 30. Deal?" he messages the seller.
"No."
This seller is a tough nut to crack. After some haggling, Yang Yi manages to get 40 arrows for 280 each, spending 11,200 Coins and leaving him with just 2,800 to his name.
"Suna, I bought some armor-piercing arrows. Left them in your room," he sends as a message. A few minutes later, she replies.
"Got it."
With that done, he pulls out the [Low-Grade Craftsman's Whetstone] he'd been saving. It only works on Treasure-type items, and since he lucked into a Relic greatsword, he decides to use it on his old reliable. He's not one to hoard items. It’s better to use something and be stronger than to die with a full inventory of potential. He applies the whetstone to the [Sea Serpent's Tooth].
A blinding golden light flashes. The dagger's stats have transformed.
[Name: Searing Sea Serpent's Tooth (Altered)]
[Type: Treasure]
[Quality: Exquisite]
[Description: A serpentine dagger infused with the power of fire. Incredibly sharp, it now inflicts burning wounds. It can release its stored fire energy in a single blast, creating a cone of flame that ignites everything in its path. Cooldown: 48 hours. After using Flame Burst, the dagger will grow dim and lose its searing effect until the cooldown is over.]
Yang Yi grins, extremely satisfied. He never expected the upgrade would give it an active skill. This is a game-changer. The skill could even be used to start a campfire in a pinch, though the long cooldown makes that a last resort.
