Golden Dragon: Six Thousand Years of Empire

Chapter 360: Wasn't He Asleep? How Can He Still Move?

"Mother, how are things in Heaven?"

When Ophelia, with her furrowed brows, returned to her partner's abode, she saw her offspring, whose expression was equally solemn, approaching her.

"Things in Heaven aren't going well."

The Blazing Angel Commander, after surveying Heaven, naturally had her gaze drawn to a sword mark in the corner of the palace, because it was so apparent that it was hard to ignore.

"What happened while I was away? Did someone attack Noah?"

"No one attacked Father, but indeed someone was spying. I sensed her presence but couldn't keep her, and afterwards, not a trace was found."

Iliad seriously reported the abnormal situation he encountered to his mother, knowing that now only she could help Father.

"No trace left afterwards?"

Ophelia walked over to the sword mark, silently sensed it, and after not feeling a single lingering aura, she had a clear understanding in her heart.

She did not doubt her child's judgment but rather trusted Iliad's perception. Someone had infiltrated the palace and observed Noah at close range. The fact that not a hint of aura was left corroborated the information she had gathered.

Sometimes, being too clean can explain more because the skills of most assassins can't achieve perfect tracelessness. Only the topmost and rarest of them can come and go without a trace, leaving no trail and making it impossible to pursue.

"Mother, do you know who it is?"

Seeing the contemplative look on the Blazing Angel Commander's face, Iliad asked.

"I don't know, I can't be sure of exactly which one, but I can confirm one thing: your father has gotten himself into big trouble."

"What trouble?"

"Many Divines have already viewed your father as a threat and a potential challenger. You should know what this implies."

"My father doesn't intend to take the Divine Throne..."

"Even we, as mother and son, find that hard to believe. How can you expect those Divines to believe it?"

Iliad fell silent.

"I don't know what your father plans to do, but the current situation is all of his own making. Now, he must bear all the consequences that come from it."

Ophelia's words sounded cold and heartless, but the problem is that this Blazing Angel Commander, who should be in Heaven, frequently descends to the lower realm, and now has directly stayed by Noah's side.

"Mother, can't you persuade Grandfather to intervene?"

Iliad thought of his mother's background. As the daughter of the Blazing Sky God, such a noble being, if she spoke for Noah, even those Divines would show respect.

"Do you know that despite being partners with your father for so long, he has never formally visited my father? I've mentioned it several times, urging him to go to Heaven, but he always refuses, continually rejecting me."

"This... Father probably has his own concerns."

Thinking of Grandfather's dignified yet kind face, Iliad somewhat understood Father's reasons, but had to admit that such behavior was quite disrespectful.

But even so, Iliad still tried to cover for his father,

"If the timing were right, Father would definitely not act so disrespectfully and would go to visit Grandfather."

"Whether or not to visit is not important, what matters is the intention."

Ophelia herself had no feelings about this matter, but her father had a lot of opinions, which led to her being flatly refused when she brought up the issues Noah was facing.

"But Father is asleep now, even if he wants to make amends, there's no way."

"No need to make amends, your grandfather is not as capable as you imagine. He can't intervene in the Material Realm now either."

Ophelia glanced at her offspring.

As a Blazing Sky God, his power is undeniably strong and can stand on equal footing with the Divines without needing faith.

But therein lies the problem. Being too independent, his ties to the Material Realm are even weaker than those of the Divines, so the realm's instinctive will is particularly resistant, far more than the Divines could imagine.

Only under certain circumstances, with numerous anchors and special conditions, can he manifest his power in the Material Realm.

Just like the last time, severely wounding the Immortal King with one strike—that was because the Immortal King himself was also an outlier exceeding the critical point, and had intruded into the Material Realm; between two evils, the Material Realm's will allowed the Blazing Sky God to act.

"What should we do now?"

Iliad's expression was anxious. The crisis had already emerged, yet the most obvious backing was not taking action.

Though there was still someone in Hell, the one in Hell had long since been problematic. Judging from the continual emergence of demonized beings from the Augustus family, the problem remained unresolved, so they couldn't be relied upon now.

"Don't worry, I've stolen Father's accompanying sword and armor."

Ophelia, with exceedingly skilled movements, drew a Flame Sword from the Void, then, under Iliad's slightly shocked gaze, took out a set of silver-white armor. The pure white divine light leaping like flames left this Holy Dragon's eldest quite speechless.

That grandfather isn't unwilling to help at all. It's one thing for Mother to casually take away the sword, but the armor—can that really be stolen?
