Chapter 358: Father, Are You Really Not a God? (2)
Seeing his brother's not-so-good expression, the originally cheerful Terramus took the documents and began to read, understanding what had happened on the surface while he was expanding his legion underground, and his expression involuntarily changed.
"The key is not what Father says, but that many outside already believe Father is about to become the Dragon God, and many Dragon-men at the bottom already view Father as a Divine being. Do you know what this means?"
"Let them be, why care about what they think?"
Although Terramus also realized the problem after reading the documents, he didn't take it to heart.
Because in his understanding, Father was such a powerful and dazzling existence; in the Material Realm, could there be any creature that could threaten Father?
Even if Divine entities wanted to target Father, they would have to pay an extremely heavy price, and they might not be able to achieve anything.
Even though Father is currently asleep, the overt and covert guarding forces in the Holy Dragon Land are sufficient to protect Father, not to mention, the Atlas Kingdom, the Undead Kingdom, and the Star Tower, all of these are potential support forces for Father.
If anything happened to Father, not to mention these forces, even the Elf Court, which seemed at odds with Father, might send someone; the Elf Demigod at least would take action.
Therefore, Terramus believed there was nothing to worry about. Isn't it just a rumor that Father would become a god? So what if it's true? Which Divine entity in the secular Church could threaten Father?
"Terramus, you underestimate the power of the Divine!"
Hearing his brother's arrogant words, Iliad couldn't help but furrow his brow and scold. If it were that simple, would he need to fret like this, with such a worried face?
"I'm not underestimating it, but this is the Material Realm; even if the Divine are strong, they can't descend with their True Body."
"Sigh, enough."
Hearing his brother's naive words, Iliad couldn't help but sigh. He suddenly realized the difference between himself and his brother.
He is a Mixed Blood; he not only has heritage but was brought to Heaven at a young age by his mother to be educated. But Terramus is different. He is the purest-blooded Golden Dragon, and his heritage only partially comes from Father.
The two brothers' understanding of the Divine was not the same. The biggest difference was that Terramus' knowledge of the Divine was only as deep as the heritage he received, whereas he had personally seen True Gods, and not just one.
So, Iliad knew just how terrifying the Divine could be. When he realized his father was infringing on the Fundamental Interests of the Divine, he immediately sensed danger, becoming extremely vigilant, but Iliad was still carefree and unconcerned.
This wasn't the Holy Dragon Descendant's fault, but rather the brothers' vision heights were not aligned, and their perspectives differed, leading to different thoughts on the same issue.
"How have your endeavors underground been?"
"Very well. What do you think about me establishing a kingdom underground?"
Although he realized his elder brother was changing the topic, Terramus didn't mind, instead following the conversation to talk about his recent thoughts.
He felt that with his personality and control over his forces, he could completely establish his own kingdom in the Dark Territory.
Though it might be inappropriate for him, as a Golden Dragon, to establish a power underground, his unique power made it feasible. There were too many restraints and concerns above ground, making it difficult to operate freely, but underground, it didn't matter anymore.
The Underground World was purely a place where might was right, without so many moral and ethical constraints. As long as you could become stronger, anything was possible. The strong could do anything.
Terramus also gradually fell in love with the pure and primal atmosphere of the underground; hence, he had the idea of building a kingdom there.
"It seems you've gained a lot underground, but if you build a kingdom underground, can you adapt to the underground environment long-term?"
Hearing this idea, which seemed absurd for a Golden Dragon, Iliad was a bit surprised but didn't express opposition.
Having interacted with his brother for so many years, he naturally noticed some unknown secrets about his brother but chose not to investigate further and instead chose to respect them. After all, as beings, who doesn't have their own secrets?
"I only said I would build a kingdom underground; I never said I'd live underground permanently."
"Since you have this idea, go ahead and try it."
"Elder brother, you support me?"
Terramus was somewhat pleasantly surprised.
"Why would I oppose you? But if you really want to try, wait for Father to wake up first. Don't pour too much effort into the underground now."
"No problem."
Terramus readily agreed. Father had been asleep for ten years and would probably awaken soon, so it wouldn't be too long to wait.
As the Holy Dragon Descendant left joyfully, Iliad, being the eldest, sighed. He originally wanted to share some of his burdens, but now it seemed he would have to bear it all alone.
Previously, he could discuss things with his mother, but the Great Angel Leader had already returned to Heaven to inquire about the movements of the gods from Heavenly Mountain.
Undoubtedly, the gods from Heavenly Mountain were all benevolent True Gods, but benevolence didn't mean they would tolerate newcomers dividing their Divine Position Domain.
"Father, do you really not intend to achieve Divine Enthronement?"
Filled with thoughts, the Angel and Dragon's Son gazed at the Golden Holy Dragon enveloped in a crimson glow.
Even as his biological offspring, he found it hard to believe that Father had no plans for Divine Enthronement because every action of Father seemed to be preparing to gather faith, ignite the Divine Fire, and elevate the Divine Throne. If even his offspring felt this way, what more of the Divine?
Whoosh~
At this moment, a gentle sound like flowing water arose. Iliad saw right at that moment, amidst the radiant crimson glow illuminating the Sky Dome, a glimmer of gold emerged, crystal clear, with a sense of pure wisdom. At that moment, many past confusions and doubts vanished, his mind became clear, without any hesitation.
"What's this?"
Iliad could clearly see that this golden glow was radiating from Father's forehead, bursting forth from the brow of the slumbering Ancestral Golden Dragon.
Feeling the power contained within this golden light, Iliad couldn't help but take a few steps forward, and with it, a moment of clarity dawned upon him; it was becoming increasingly obvious. However, before the Holy Dragon Descendant could approach Father, he heard a light crackling sound,
Crack~
"Who?"
Radiant Holy Light flowed from Iliad's eyes, and an Angel Greatsword imbued with Holy Fire appeared in this naturally sacred Mixed Blood's hand. The brilliant sword light swept across, annihilating even the faintest shadow in the corner of the architecture.
Clang~
The sword light, powerful enough to cleave mountains and sever rivers, struck the pillar. Accompanied by the faint rumble of Noah's Palace, the brilliance of countless Alchemy Matrix lights danced, preventing this Holy Dragon's eldest son from slicing open Noah's resting place with one sword.
When the sword light dissipated, a sword mark extended from the ground to the Sky Dome, its destructive aura flowing, while the one who caused all this, Iliad, looked somber.
With a wave of his hand, piece by piece, the renowned Heavenly Armament appeared on his body, covering him completely, causing the once subpar Mixed Blood aura to rise substantially, emanating an extremely terrifying presence.
"Void Blade?"
Iliad went up to the sword mark he just left. At this point, he could no longer feel any sense of discord or alien atmosphere.
The anomaly he had sensed just now felt like a figment of his imagination, but this Holy Dragon's eldest son was very sure that it was no illusion.
A terrifying assassin, possibly a Saint Ascender, had infiltrated the palace. If it weren't for Father's state transformation alarming it into exposing itself, he wouldn't have discovered it.
