Golden Dragon: Six Thousand Years of Empire

Chapter 300: It's Getting Cold, Suggest the King to Don His Robe_2

Noah spread his arms wide, accepting his parents' scrutiny with a calm demeanor, feeling their eyes filled with surprise, admiration, joy, and relief.

"Truly an Ancestor Dragon, unbelievable, that you've come this far."

Orsya, as his mother, was greatly amazed when her guess was confirmed.

"Which Majesty's favor did you receive? Your luck is incredible!"

The exclamation from Angelis blackened Noah's proud expression a bit. As always, it was outstanding.

Ao~

Roar—

Before the two dragons could continue their questioning, a series of roars and dragon howls echoed from the sky above.

The slightly settled cloud and misty sky once again began to stir. One after another, adult giant dragons of various hues dove down from where the Golden Dragon had just been circling.

"Dragons, so many dragons!"

"The beastman dragon cavalry is attacking."

The soldiers in the fortress quickly became restless due to the descending dragon group. The threat from the sky plunged the fortress, ravaged by war, into a state of alert. However, Marshal Erwin promptly reacted,

"Do not panic, do not fret, stay calm, lay down your weapons, leave the crossbows, these are the Metallic Dragon Race!"

"They are our allies!"

The panic in the fortress didn't last long and was swiftly dispelled. Upon realizing that the arriving dragons did not attack them, but instead each sought a place to settle, confirming they were allies, an unprecedented joy and a sense of security filled every soldier's heart.

The sun gradually climbed over the horizon, the dense white mist slowly dispersing under the sunlight. The beastman army, continuously gathering with the sound of horns, preparing to besiege the city, also began to disperse as the fog dissipated.

The beastman commander truly felt the terrifying dragon power pervading the heavens and the earth. Not only he felt it, but the many siege giant beasts prepared for war were also crawling on the ground, trembling and unwilling to advance.

The beastman camp, bustling and noisy under the fog, now fell into a peculiar silence.

Even the not-so-intelligent war giant beasts dared not make any movement, let alone the beastman warriors who, having experienced numerous battles, had an extremely keen sense of danger.

Although they fought bravely, they were not ignorant and fearless, rushing directly to death. They sought victory, to enjoy the wealth and women of their enemies, not to die in vain.

"Are these all your followers?"

Even though it was confirmed once, Angelis couldn't help but ask again.

"Yes, they are all my followers, loyal to me, dragons with their own lands."

Noah patiently explained to his father, further clarifying.

"It's incredible, how did you do it?"

Angelis didn't know how many times he had uttered such admiration.

"For an Ancestor Dragon, accomplishing such things is not difficult."

Noah responded.

"But you are so young now, and you have so many followers."

Not only Angelis, but even the relatively calm Orsya was digesting the continuous startling news.

The two dragons, as a couple, not only had to accept the fact that their offspring had ascended to an Ancestor Dragon but also had to accept the shocking fact that there were hundreds of dragon lords loyal to their child.

However, the most crucial thing was, they had to accept the harsh reality that they could no longer provide any help to their child, even though he had not yet matured.

Not mentioning Noah himself, even the dragon lords following him might not individually be able to contend with them as mature Golden Dragons, but just three to five combined could completely rival them.

Not mentioning all of them, even half of Noah's dragon lords united could establish an overwhelming advantage over them.

Mature dragons were indeed stronger than adult dragons, but no absolute superiority was established. Only after advancing to Legend did an insurmountable gap emerge.

"That's all trivial, what I'm more curious to know now is your current situation."

Noah looked at the human marshal beside him, uncertain of what expression to wear.

The dragon clan reinforcements arriving, far exceeding expectations, were powerful enough to alter the final outcome of the battlefield.

Yet, sadly, the country he belonged to had already decided to surrender, and the dragon clan as outsiders could not influence the decision made by His Majesty the King.

"I'm very grateful for your arrival, but you are indeed too late."

Marshal Erwin sighed. Had this dragon arrived a year or two earlier, maybe he could have changed the decision of the weak-hearted King, but now, the surrender agreement with the Beastman Alliance was probably already signed.

"Too late?"

Noah's face revealed a cold smile, already aware of the circumstances of the fortress he was in.

A military fortress, concentrated with most of the country's elite forces, was abandoned by the country's ruler as one of the conditions for surrender. Such an absurd thing could only be done by short-sighted rulers of short-lived species.

"Indeed, it's too late. Look, the King's messenger has arrived."

Marshal Erwin pointed, and in the sky beyond the fortress, a string of black dots appeared, gradually enlarging. It was a group of giant eagles, with one to three humans on each eagle's back.

As the giant eagle group arrived near the fortress, they circled in the sky, hesitating to land, because there were simply too many dragons gathered in this city. Even creatures claiming the ability to compete with dragons for the sky, like these giant eagles, hesitated.

"Let them land!"

Only after Noah's command did the giant eagles reluctantly land in the fortress under the riders' direction. But once the humans on their backs dismounted, they quickly rushed back into the sky, unwilling to spend a moment longer in the city,

"Where is Elwin Gauss?"

The emissary group, having tidied their elegant, exquisite robes, climbed up the city wall amidst the gray and dirty soldiers' stern gazes, disregarding those contemptible glares entirely, and, upon reaching the wall, began to shout vigorously,

"There is a command from the King!"

"I am Elwin Gauss, what is the King's command?"

Though he had known the answer through certain special channels, Elwin, as the Commander, still harbored a glimmer of hope. What if?

"By the order of His Majesty Florcell III, Marshal Elwin Gauss is relieved of his duties and all positions related to military affairs, retaining only his noble title and rank. Marquis Elwin Gauss is to return to the Capital City immediately upon receiving this order, with no delay."

The fair-skinned, exquisitely made-up King's messenger, after cheerfully reading the order, looked at the grim-faced Erwin with anticipation,

"Marquis, this is the King's order, please!"

"I have no issue with relieving me from my duties, but who will take over the army?"

"There's no need for you to worry, Marquis. Someone will naturally take over."

Elwin was silent for a moment and then spoke huskily,

"Is the one taking over after me human? It won't be beastman, will it?"

"Elwin Gauss, what are you trying to do? Are you questioning His Majesty the King's order? What does it matter to you who takes over? Are you trying to decide your successor?"

"Why not?"

Noah, who had been watching from the sidelines, couldn't hold back any longer and interrupted, looking confusedly at the ashen-faced Marshal Erwin,

"What's with the face? Who's it for? If you're dissatisfied with the decision of a bunch of useless people, why don't you do it yourself? You have the strength and military power, what are you afraid of with this lot?"
