Gol D. Ace In Coiling Dragon

Chapter 294: Book 10: Part 13 – Ace Defeats A Paragon

Ace watched as his attack was dispersed, but he wasn't surprised in the slightest. He was well aware that as opposed to the Laws, which were fairly diverse in the way it was used, the Edicts had strict specialities, and of them, the Edict of Faith was the one that was best for spiritual attacks, and as a paragon, it could be said that Fu'Raz had reached the pinnacle in soul-based attacks.

As for Ace, although, thanks to the Profound Mystery of Spiritual Flames, the Laws of Fire were pretty good as far as the soul was concerned, it was still the only mystery Ace hadn't completely comprehended, let alone finished fusing with other mysteries. As such, it was definitely a shortcoming for Ace.

Still, Ace had done enough to weaken Fu'Raz's spiritual technique so that his soul defence could tank the remnant spiritual essence.

Looking up at Fu'Raz, who was understandably still in a state of disbelief, Ace grinned and acknowledged that it looked like he really would have to get serious.

It was then that Ace, for the first time since leaving the Yulan Plane, used his [Conqueror's Haki] – or "Willpower" as those from this universe called it – in full!

Druelle, who at this point was relying mainly on her Sovereign Armour, looked at the battle between Ace and Fu'Raz in complete and utter disbelief.

She may not be able to sense Willpower, but the fact that she was no longer capable of even following Ace with her Godrealm told her everything she needed to know. Ace really was just as monstrous as Amira's parents!

No! Even more so!

Right now, he was still only a Full God. The day he broke through to the High God realm, even if he didn't become a paragon, his own (already monstrous) bloodline would likely strengthen proportionately, and his Visual Manifestation would also evolve.

At that point, she doubted even Paragons would be able to stand before him.

Right now, she regretted not having told her Sovereign about Ace and Amira. She also regretted the fact that she opened the field of Darkness in the first place. It was clear that Ace and Amira, understandably, were trying to hide their true power from the world, and even though she was capable of closing the Field of Darkness in advance, she could sense Ace's eyes on her, almost as though he was ready to attack her the moment she tried, and she was no longer under any delusions. She knew that with the strength he was displaying now, one attack was all it would take to kill her.

All she could do now was put her faith in Fu'Raz and pray he would triumph over Ace in the end.

It could be said that Druelle's instincts were truly impressive. Whether it was the fact that Ace's Godrealm was infused with his [Observation Haki] or his Willpower, it made it so that Druelle couldn't sense it in the slightest, and yet she was 100% right.

Despite placing most of his attention on his battle with Fu'Raz, he never stopped paying attention to Druelle just in case she really did have the ability to close the field of darkness.

The moment she made any sort of questionable actions, Ace wouldn't hesitate to use his true Divine Ability and strike out with his strongest attack.

Still, for now, he was happy to continue using Fu'Raz as a whetstone. It had to be said that Fu'Raz was the perfect opponent for Ace right now.

As a soul specialist, although uncomfortable and more than a little painful for Ace, Fu'Raz's constant spiritual attacks forced Ace to spend more time focusing on his spiritual abilities, which in turn allowed Ace's comprehension of the Profound Mystery of Spiritual Flames and by extension, his comprehension of *True Fire* increase by leaps and bounds.

Fu'Raz was beyond angry that Ace was using him as a whetstone in such a way, but even more so by the fact that there was nothing he could do about it. No matter what he tried, Ace was able to hold on before bouncing back even stronger from it. Even when he used Sovereign's Might, Ace would do the same, and because Ace could utilise his Willpower, he was able to use it without wasting any, meaning he wouldn't run out before Fu'Raz.

He found this battle to be even more frustrating than his battle with Larkel all those years ago. And to make matters worse, he even tried to get Ace to take a step back by apologising and promising not to ever do anything to threaten him or anyone he holds dear, but Ace didn't even bother to respond. He just grinned heavier and heavier as he sensed his comprehension progressing smoothly.

Then, under the shocked eyes of all those present, the natural laws descended around Ace.

Dread, caution, anxiety, horror… these were just a few of the expressions that appeared on Fu'Raz's face as he hurried back to put some space between him and Ace.

In his eyes. The only reason for the natural laws to descend around Ace now was to signify that his comprehension had improved enough for him to become a High God, and for someone following the path of a supreme genius, that would mean that he became a paragon.

But when the natural laws vanished, Fu'Raz and Druelle realised that he was still a Full God, something that made no sense. In fact, as far as they could see, the only difference was that his weapon had somehow become a High God Artefact.

Only Amira understood that the breakthrough he made had nothing to do with the Laws of Fire but the Concept of Fire.

Ace proceeded to thank Fu'Raz for his help but told him it was time to finish things. Fu'Raz thought he was overestimating himself; after all, they were pretty much equal till now. Even if his weapon was a little stronger, it wouldn't be enough to kill a paragon like him.

In response, Ace merely smiled before doing something that put the fear of the Overgods in him.

A giant phantom of Ace's soul-self manifested in the air behind him, and as it did, the space around him rippled as though it was unable to bear the weight of his presence.

Sensing the sudden increase of Willpower Ace was radiating, Fu'Raz realised just how much of a monster Ace really was. He roared at Druelle, telling her to hurry up and get rid of this Field of Darkness so he could escape, but when he looked at her, he realised that she had seemingly frozen solid.

It should be mentioned that because most people had their Willpower stored in their Godspark upon becoming a paragon, though they could use Willpower, they were limited to using it to merely wrap around themselves, their Divine Energy, or their Spiritual Essence.

Ace, on the other hand, was different. With his Willpower being stored in his spiritual body, he found that he was able to use it with a lot more freedom. His being able to use it to directly attack the Willpower of others (the way I translated its use from the One Piece world to the Coiling Dragon universe) was just one such method; this was the other.

By infusing his Willpower into his Godrealm, he could strengthen the power of his Godrealm to all new heights. Just how Demi-Gods could use it to suppress saints and mortals, or how Full Gods could use it to suppress Demi-Gods, etc., with his Divine Ability amplifying his Willpower two times over, Ace could now use his Godrealm to suppress commander-level experts like Druelle.

As a thank you, Ace used his current strongest single-target technique. A technique he created during his time in the seal with Garot – Incinerating Penetration. A technique that fused the profound mysteries of the Essence of Fire, Explosion, Fire Body, and Heat.

It was a technique that Ace was extremely proud of because despite it being the most powerful technique in Ace's arsenal, it focused all of its explosive power and heat onto the tip of the blade so that it would incinerate anything and everything it touched, but nothing more.

And with the additional might of his improved weapon and his twofold Willpower… Fu'Raz never stood a chance.

She may not have been able to move, but seeing a paragon being killed by a Full God, no less, was enough to shock Druelle to her very core.

In that moment, as she saw Ace take hold of the Fate-type Paragon-level Divine Spark, a new regret was added to her list. From the bottom of her heart, she regretted ever making an enemy out of Ace. He was simply too monstrous!

On the outside of the world, the remnants of the Boleyn Clan had all fled. The monsters that had invaded their home were simply too powerful.

Lucky for them, those experts had no interest in chasing them. They were all staring at the giant field of darkness, patiently waiting for it to be dispersed when the energy projection of the Chief Sovereign of Darkness appeared.
