Chapter 145: I Was Wrong, But Get Lost

"Since everyone seems to think they're dragged down by me, I feel guilty and don't want to burden everyone any longer." Chen Guan paused as he spoke.

The crowd believed Chen Guan was about to announce his resignation as the captain of Team 17 once the task was completed.

The members of Team 17 felt a bit guilty, knowing Chen Guan hadn't really done anything to wrong them. In fact, after finishing the task, he'd help them gain some benefits. Forcing him out seemed quite unpleasant.

But things had come to this point, and no one stood up to say anything, choosing to feign ignorance instead.

"Captain... Captain Chen..." An Zhiqi and Menteam were anxious, fearing that Chen Guan had reached a point of no return. But Chen Guan motioned them to stop speaking.

"What do you want to do?" Li Jinting looked at Chen Guan, smiling as he asked.

"Please, sir, transfer them all out of Team 17, so I as the captain won't continue to burden them—those not afraid of being dragged down can stay." Chen Guan said.

This statement left everyone stunned.

"Good heavens, what's that thought process? I'm sorry to burden you, so please get lost before I have another chance. This logic is something else," Ximen Ding exclaimed.

Jiang Tianqing was also dumbfounded. Though he had met many young people before, none with Chen Guan's style.

Although the rest of Team 17 felt somewhat displeased, if Chen Guan completed the task and they received the points, being transferred out of Team 17 might be for the best. Staying would make it difficult to interact with Chen Guan in the future.

Li Jinting looked at Chen Guan, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.

Chen Guan knew what Li Jinting was waiting for, so he respectfully said again, "Please, sir, grant them freedom immediately by transferring them out of Team 17, so I won't continue to feel guilty and can proceed with the work. Transfer them immediately, so I can continue with team affairs and rush to submit the task."

"What!" Team 17 was shocked.

They thought Chen Guan intended to transfer them out of Team 17 after submitting the task, but now realized he meant to kick them out before submitting the task.

Wouldn't that leave them burdened with debt, yet with no rewards related to the task? What kind of behavior is this?

"Chen Guan, what are you talking about? Are you even human? My negative points are because of you, can you live with your conscience doing this?"

"Commander, you can't listen to him, he's not human..."

"..."

Team 17 was in uproar, Menteam and An Yiqi were also dumbfounded.

It wasn't just them, the entire reserve team was shocked, unable to believe someone could speak so righteously about such matters, brazenly in front of so many people.

No matter how much Team 17 cursed, Chen Guan remained indifferent.

He confidently believed Li Jinting would agree.

Would a commander personally come to meet someone so sensitive at such a sensitive time?

If he were Chen Guan, he wouldn't come personally; at most, his deputy would convey a message, which would already be quite generous of them.

But Li Jinting showed up personally, and the implication was clear—he wanted Chen Guan to submit the task, so Chen Guan realized it wasn't about him but about these mission items.

The value of these mission items exceeded Chen Guan's previous guesses; they had an irreplaceable role, compelling Li Jinting to come personally.

Given the immense value of the mission items, Chen Guan felt justified in making demands.

If you want me to submit the task and take these items away, that's fine, but you must fulfill my conditions.

When Li Jinting didn't respond immediately, Chen Guan knew he was waiting for his stance, so he declared it and proposed his conditions.

Complete the task by kicking everyone out of Team 17—the blame is theirs to bear, but no benefits.

"Makes sense, since they're afraid of being burdened, they should go elsewhere, not stay in Team 17," Li Jinting glanced at Chen Guan and then turned to leave.

"Sir... you can't..."

"Sir... it's not possible..."

"..."

The members of Team 17 were shocked by Li Jinting's words as if struck by lightning.

They wanted to rush to stop the car, but were blocked by the guards.

Facing the guards with glowing blades, their urge to fight was quashed.

"Captain Chen... this way please... I'll assist you in submitting the task," the deputy stayed behind, courteously addressing Chen Guan.

Even though Chen Guan's level was far below his, the deputy didn't dare to treat him lightly due to his character and status.

"Captain... we were wrong... give us a way out..." Team 17 was desperate to plead with Chen Guan, hoping for a change of heart.

"Mistakes come with a price—didn't teachers teach you this in school?" Chen Guan remained unmoved, responding coldly, as he left with Menteam and An Yiqi following the deputy.

All remaining members could plead, curse, or cry, but Chen Guan didn't turn around once, indifferent to their fate.

"Ruthlessly effective, not a kind person, but gets the job done—that's the type I admire," Ximen Ding laughed.

Jiang Tianqing shook his head, feeling Chen Guan was overly ruthless. His situation wasn't great, and such a personality would make enemies, making life difficult.

"Strange, where's Bu Changning? Today should've been his performance; why doesn't he seem to be showing up?" Ximen Ding scanned the surroundings, but didn't see Bu Changning anywhere.

"After his brief appearance initially, he seems to have vanished; no one noticed where he went," said other members of Team 9.

Bu Changning had returned to Xiu Haofeng's office.

"Captain Xiu, we lost badly, gained nothing but debt," Bu Changning said with bitterness.

Xiu Haofeng felt awful too, not expecting Chen Guan would complete those Gold missions, let alone three impossible tasks at once.

"Bu, don't rush; we'll have opportunities," Xiu Haofeng tried to console Bu Changning.

"Captain Xiu, I can't help it—Li Jinting agreed with Chen Guan to kick us out of Team 17. Without a team to take us, we'll have to go home," Bu Changning stared hard at Xiu Haofeng.

"Bu, with your situation now, I can't commit to accepting you into Team 1. But rest assured, I won't give up on you. For now, go home; I'll personally send you balm once it arrives, and when you're healed, I'll find a way to get you into the Ancestral Court..."

"Enough." Bu Changning shouted, interrupting Xiu Haofeng, his eyes blood red, staring intensely: "Captain Xiu, it's due to your assignments that I'm in this mess. It's done, I want nothing—just fix this leg; today, now, immediately."

He almost screamed his last few words.

Looking at Bu Changning, nearly mad, Xiu Haofeng's expression turned cold, eyes icy as he said, "And if I can't fix it today?"

"Then we'll go to hell together." Bu Changning swiftly drew a knife and charged at Xiu Haofeng, his face fiercely contorted, aiming a strike at Xiu Haofeng's head.

He moved fast, but returned faster, repelled easily by a slap from Xiu Haofeng, sent flying, spitting blood, struggling on the ground for ages without rising.

"Trash is just trash," Xiu Haofeng lazily remarked, "Bu Changning has gone mad; send him to the hospital."
