God of Money: Reincarnated as the Weakest SSS Rank

Chapter 129: The Lockwards... Who can understand them?

Classes are created to control the Arcane Flow, which is found everywhere in this world and can affect everything in it...

Louis repeated this to himself as he tried to understand what she had meant.

He remembered seeing those threads moving through everything. The leaves, the earth, the water... everything seemed to be made up of those threads.

He could see it, so he knew it. Understanding that was no problem, but what did it mean?

He thought about it for several seconds until he reviewed what he knew about magic.

It was an exciting concept, much more interesting than what he had read in novels at some point, so he didn't forget anything about it.

He remembered every part of the magic he had been taught clearly and didn't really need to review it; he just had to search his mind, and he would find it.

And it was all this that held the answer to his questions.

Of course, the Lockwards don't really need money or anything like that. That's useless to them when they have people of at least Rank S, capable of controlling the Arcane Flow to do whatever they want.

There are chef magicians dedicated to creating food. They use the Threads of the Flow to create it. Livestock magicians are professionals at creating livestock and only need to train in it as magicians to achieve it.

Creating food, livestock, crops... money.

Anything is possible if you have mages who specialize in it. Obviously, many families know that it is possible, but first, there are not many records of mages specializing in crops or money, so there are very few of them.

Most magicians don't dare to get involved in that world of passive utility magic. They prefer to become research magicians or fighters, as that satisfies them more.

But what happens in a family as large and powerful as the Lockwards? They have gods dedicated to that.

They don't really need a God of Money when they even have S-rank personnel capable of creating wealth in almost every sense.

And what they can't control, they dominate because their minimum rank is simply S. In the Empire, several companies are dedicated to extracting certain resources from the Red Sun Tower or some special minerals.

That probably means they can't create them... for now. So they make up for their few needs that way.

But they don't really need the rest. Or maybe they do, but they are completely independent as they are.

They don't need a God to create more money for them, because that's something someone with barely the capacity of an S-Rank can do.

Furthermore, it is well known that this little-explored and largely overlooked form of magic can even be learned as a secondary skill and still be exploited sufficiently well. So there may be a God in that family who can create money as a side job.

And they can create this money in many ways. Whether by formulating new resources, as if they were a mine of precious minerals, or simply by creating God Coins, which in themselves control the world, they must have entire banks that create them.

That is what an independent Clan can do, and it is this independence that has allowed them to reign.

'What the hell with that family?' Louis trembled at the very thought. How could it be so terrifying?

The ability to create everything in this world, no matter what it is? What kind of absurd talent was that?

Of course, there could be errors in his conjectures, but...

Rebecca noticed his trembling, so she smiled.

"Now do you understand? It's possible that the Lockwards simply view this world as a game. The backyard of the place where they live is nothing to brag about. A nice garden."

Louis wrinkled his nose slightly. "But if you can have it all, why do you usually get involved in worldly matters? Or why do you care about them?"

"Well..." She didn't have time to think before speaking. "I want to know that too. My biggest question, ever since I met them, is why they care about the affairs of this world. What are they looking for, or what do they want? If you look at them from the outside, don't they look like True Gods? It seems like they're above everything."

What are they looking for?

Dominion? For what? What is the point of ruling when they have so much power? Couldn't they just delegate it to the rest of their subordinates?

Or is there something that makes them act? A family... an organization... Another bloodline, just as powerful?

When you tried to understand such a strange and terrifying family, the questions were endless.

But all this simply proved one thing: they could never fall.

"Once they are born, they will remain there. It must have been a universal anomaly, or perhaps they themselves are the personification of the universe. Either way, they will never fall from their terrifying status," she said.

"Well, there is a way for them to fall through internal betrayals," she said again. "But that's only if they're more human than I think. In that case, I could never understand what they are or why they exist." She shrugged.

Finally, she fell silent.

Louis had many questions, but at least now he understood why that family despised money so much.

They were like a mine of everything that exists in the world, so they could practically have everything they wanted, whenever they wanted it.

That was truly terrifying.

Where did that family come from? What is their real origin?

He couldn't find the answers to that question, so he had to remain silent, even in his mind.

He ended up sighing. When he initially asked Rebecca about the Lockwards, he didn't expect to be hit with such a harsh dose of reality.

So he could only lean back in his chair and stare at the ceiling, letting his thoughts wander.

More than five minutes later, he could hear the noise outside. The opening ceremony was about to begin.

"Will you join me?" he asked, getting up. He didn't want to think anymore, so he decided to participate in the opening ceremony, not just the closing ceremony as he had planned.

Rebecca shook her head. "Knowing that you're in charge here reassures me. I think you'll make good decisions, so I'll leave you alone. I'll talk to my father about you, so stay alive," she said.

"Haha, okay. I'll try to stay alive. I hope you do too, don't waste the money."

"Hahaha, we Priestleys were born to waste our spare cash occasionally. It's not our fault that our spare cash is other people's fortunes."

He shrugged. "In the future, then, I'll bet on you at your family's price. If you can match my bet and I win, your entire family, including you, will belong to me. If I lose, well, you can double your family's wealth. Maybe that man you respect will cease to be a threat then."

Rebecca looked at him, stunned, before bursting out laughing. "Hahahaha, that's a really dangerous statement, Young Master Louis. It's too bold a statement. My family's wealth isn't as simple as just money."

"Well, I'll match it, sooner or later. You'd be surprised how amazing the world can be." He then left the room, leaving Rebecca deep in thought.

He walked toward the main hall through the back.

Jessy was having her big day today, and he wanted to see it.

Presenters and entertainers introduced her at that moment.

"Our Miss Jessy, whose talent for design of all kinds is absurd, has prepared a series of luxurious garments that will be auctioned today, as well as high-end hats and haute couture garments."

"But what's brilliant about her isn't her creations, but her personality... She'll surely help you and offer you protection when you're in need. Her kindness and positivity will encourage you to get back up, even when you've had the worst fall of your life."

"She won Lord Carwine's heart with those eyes as clear as water, so now, please give a round of applause to our new patroness. Lord Carwine's Ambassador and founder of the company, Miss Jessy."

Finally, Jessy could swallow her embarrassment at that introduction and step forward. She was not alone; there were other people around her. The entire group that had followed her here and her new employees, for a total of 45 people.

Everyone was wearing special company attire today, with exotic yet elegant designs.

Upon arriving, Jessy stepped forward to speak.

"This place isn't really my sweat, tears, and blood. I'm not here to deceive you," she said softly. "Everything here was created thanks to my lord, Lord Louis. He rescued me from an abyss to give me a place in high society. So, in my company presentation, I will thank no one but him. We are here because of him, so thank you very much, Mr. Louis. I hope to continue serving you." She said, bowing in front of everyone.
