Chapter 90: Dungeon Break: Part I
Apollo stirred in his chamber, with, for the first time, no naked women in his chambers, only him and his insane mind that wanted to make Nova suffer as a mortal. So, he decided to stir up some drama in the country that he was currently living in by causing a dungeon break, which hasn't occurred in America for a long time.
---
Nova and Elesch were in their new apartment, the kittens growing steadily, as they were able to move much more effectively now, scanning their new surroundings, thinking this was their forever home.
Nova was in the shower, as Elesch was playing with the kittens. Being just above three weeks old, they were wobbling with each step, which made Elesch awe even more. Elesch poured the kittens some food before going into the shower to get ready to meet up with Marcus to train further.
Elesch went into the shower, as Nova played with the kittens, putting them back inside their new enclosure, where food and water were ample, with enough room for them to fool around, as they pleased.
After another ten minutes had gone by, Elesch finally came out of the shower, dressing him in her attire, then leaving with Nova to meet up with Marcus and Adam. They got to the guild in about ten minutes, bantering along the way, as both their bodies were sore from all the meditation and physical gym training that Marcus introduced them to, which they were still not accustomed to.
They entered the guild, being about ten minutes late, as they didn't see Marcus or Adam, for that matter, and they didn't see any Adventurers. The receptionists were still there, so they approached them.
"Where is Marcus and everyone else?" Nova asked, looking around, astonished.
"Everyone is in the basement. Apparently, something big is going on, which is confidential only among the fellow Adventurers." The lady said, as if she were trying to gossip, but failed.
Nova and Elesch nodded and went down the stairs to the basement. After opening the door, they saw Marcus on a high-rise stage, his voice cautious, speaking through a megaphone: "Everyone listen, a dungeon break is estimated to occur in exactly five minutes. I need you to summon all the Adventurers since this dungeon break, which is estimated to be at least three diagonal pillars, is gonna be grueling."
Nova saw Adam, so he grabbed Elesch and ran towards him. Adam looked nervous, and so did Nova, according to the information Marcus had just relayed to them. Marcus jumped down, telling everyone to go to their stations, as all the Adventurers left in an instant, and Marcus ran towards the trio.
As he approached, he didn't look nervous, though he didn't look happy either. His face was unreadable; it didn't have its usual smirk to it. Then he spoke up: "Our guild scientists detected a triple evolved dungeon break to occur soon. This is bad. The worst dungeon break that has ever occurred in history has consisted of one diagonal pillar. And that nearly obliterated an entire country."
"How is it even possible to have such a high-level dungeon break?" Nova asked him. But Marcus didn't have a definite answer.
"The scientists think that because the Infernal Realm, aka Hell, is drawing closer, it's activating sudden triggers from the Mythic Realm, aka Beastaria, but they still aren't sure as to why such a large anomaly is taking place."
"We don't have time to waste," Elesch murmured, urging the other trio to get into positions. "We three will do everything from our side, just give us the order of what we should do."
Without a second thought, Marcus replied, "I want you three to help clear out the people in the city. Since the dungeon break is occurring here. I have contacted guilds across the world to lend a hand, so Adventurers across the world should be coming soon. But you three go and clear out the people. We need to keep the civilians safe, no matter what. It's our solemn duty."
"Yes, sir!" all three said in unison, going upstairs, as Marcus stayed behind.
I really didn't want to do this, he thought, his unreadable face contorting into something dull. "I didn't want to use this power, not now. They aren't ready yet."
On Marcus's Circle of Pillars, two more diagonal lines crossed over, with another pillar inking itself into existence, as he became the Eclipse Sovereign, the third evolution of his shadow manipulation, the highest he could go, before becoming EX-rank and transcending further.
Now that he was a triple-evolved C-rank Adventurer, humanity may just have a chance of altering this dungeon outbreak. Though the dungeon itself wasn't the issue, it was the creature that would appear at the end of the dungeon outbreak that would be the real threat.
The trio saw civilians and took them to safety as large trucks appeared, with three minutes left until the dungeon outbreak was to occur. Many trucks of people, carrying thousands, if not more, were teleported outside of the state, where the rest of the country gathered. Bunkers just for occasions like this.
As more and more people cleared, and the time ticked closer and closer to zero, only the Adventurers remained. James Mahe was nowhere to be seen, possibly protecting a bunker, so that no civilian got injured. Marcus led his team, with the trio mixed in, as they waited.
The clock hit zero, and all the Adventurers prepared themselves, nervous, yet composed enough not to act wildly. As the timer went into the negatives, people grew less nervous, thinking that it was all just a misconception, so about ninety percent of them eased.
But then...
A ripple across the sky emerged; it tore the fabric of space in front of the Adventurers, but they were ready. They got back into formation, readying all their weapons, abilities, and the team spirit that drove them to stick with each other.
The trio looked at Marcus as he looked at them. Then, monsters flooded in. At first, it was just E-rank monsters, but then waves upon waves of monsters poured in like moths to a flame. Everyone was ready: the trio, Marcus, and all the Adventurers present, as this was the biggest battle of the century, a battle so dangerous that the fate of the world depended on the Adventurers and their ability to defend.
