Chapter 66: Love at First Sight
Elesch woke up on Nova's bed, inside his apartment. She tilted her head in confusion, then straightened on the bed, looking around to see the space being very empty. It was like she was in a prison cell, only a bed, with a bonus closet.
She left the bed, walking outside the room, turned to go to the living room, and saw Nova sprawled on the couch, sleeping, with kittens on top of him. Some of them stirred awake, smelling an unusual scent.
She looked blissful as she approached them in awe. One of them, Smudge, softly purred, as if welcoming her to the house properly. They were nearly three weeks old, almost able to partially stand.
Elesch gently grabbed Smudge, confused, as she had never seen a cat, but also so intrigued by the appearance of the tiny little critter. She brought Smudge close to her face, then rubbed Smudge against her cheek. She felt the softness of Smudge's skin, rubbing against her perfectly smooth skin.
She leapt on the floor, making herself comfortable, as she put Smudge in her lap, patting him gently, like a soft autumn breeze. She was happy, a smile bigger than the Empire State appearing on her face.
More of the kittens stirred awake, while Nova kept sleeping. By the way he was sleeping, Elesch assessed that he was squeezing something, since his hand kept locking into a semi-fist and back. She was confused, as he was even smiling, some drool dripping from his mouth.
She tilted her head again in confusion, scratching her head, her eyes not having a single thought behind them. But she ignored him, grabbing the rest of the kittens, Luna, Nyx, Sol, and Miro.
Elesch sat cross-legged, the kittens tumbling into her lap like falling stars. They purred and meowed softly, their little paws stretching and patting at her hand as if testing whether she was real.
She chuckled as Luna climbed halfway up her arm before rolling back down into the safety of her lap.
Nyx pawed at her smooth hair, playing playfully, while Sol wobbled forward with determined little steps, his tail wagging at every step.
Miro, the smallest, curled into a ball against her palm, trusting her warmth immediately. Elesch felt a sudden weight in her chest, not heavy, but light and glowing, a warmth she hadn't known she was missing.
Nova stirred slightly on the couch, mumbling in his sleep, but still smiling. One kitten crawled from her lap onto his arm, nestling into the crook of his elbow.
The scene made Elesch giggle. She pressed her cheek against Smudge again, inhaling the soft scent of a brand new life, and for the first time, she wondered if maybe this space wasn't empty at all.
Then, a sudden rush of energy coursed through her body, and she felt lethargic sitting on the floor. She carefully grabbed all the kittens, placing them on Nova's chest, as they sprawled back into their somber.
She went to the bedroom again, into his closet, grabbing some of his clothes, since she didn't have any of hers. She grabbed an oversized T-shirt, while keeping the lower she had been wearing from Inner Heaven.
She went outside, roaming the streets of Boston, as the city came into fruition. It was bustling with life, as something important was taking place. Some sort of a mini-festival. She went and traversed into the main street, checking out all the shops, looking at all the different types of clothing articles, just tailored for women.
She fell in love, then, as she ventured further and further, not looking where she was going, she accidentally bumped into someone. They both fell back, the person she bumped into getting up immediately, and assisting her up, as she looked to see a guy, and her cheeks widened, blush appearing on her cheeks.
Her blush only deepened by the second, as she realized that they were holding hands, as he had assisted her, their eyes locking in for a moment. Now, both of them blushed. The world around them seemed to have been frozen, the festival vanishing, all the people around them fading away into oblivion, as only she and the guy she bumped into stayed.
"I... uh...Sorry, I should h-have been paying more attention to a beautiful girl like y-you crossing my path. I humbly apologize." The man said, releasing his hand from hers, as she snapped back to reality.
"No, no. I am truly sorry. I was entranced by the festival, so I wasn't paying attention. I should be the one apologizing." Elesch said, with a gulp, her voice trembling slightly.
Both of their voices trembled as the guy bowed in nervousness, not knowing what to do, and left her fast. His heart was pounding, both of theirs were. They both look back at each other, a spark in their eyes illuminating, connecting them, as they felt like it was love at first sight.
Elesch's eyes widened even more as she ran away, nervous. She gulped again as she left the guy. The guy got confused, chuckling, as he realized that he might have found his soulmate.
Elesch ran so far that she passed the guild and ventured into a new territory. She panted hard, her blush only growing, as she couldn't deny the connection between them.
She looked up, standing straight, realizing she had to work on her cardio, not that she was just a fragile little mortal. She saw there was like a mini-road leading inside a forest.
She followed it to see that the road led everywhere. Front, back, side, even diagonal. She ventured forward, going to the side, as she found a playground only a dozen yards away, with kids playing in the playground, on the football field, and baseball field. There was a match happening at the baseball field.
So, she went further and further, smiling brightly, as this stimulus was new to her. She went towards the baseball game, seeing this new sport. She laughed, clapping silently, trying not to bring too much attention to herself.
