Chapter 883: The End of the Zombie Lord
Boros's body surged with renewed power as the energy from the Jumper Zombie coursed through him…
His wounds closed rapidly, and the conductor rods along his spine began to glow once more as they started crackling with unstable lightning.
The shelter's defenders watched in frustration as the Zombie Lord regained his strength, his posture started straightening and his aura also began intensifying.
Seraphiel didn't retreat.
She adjusted her stance, with her blade still held firmly in both hands…
She wasn't alarmed by the Zombie Lord's ability to regenerate at all. She even advanced again to continue pressuring the Zombie Lord…
The rain continued to fall around her, but the dome of light she had summoned earlier still held, casting a golden glow across the battlefield and illuminating every movement with clarity…
It means that she was still perfectly fine.
"Haha! You will die here, brave knight, and you will become the source of my power!" Boros laughed as Natalie realized that this was the most talkative Zombie Lord she had ever encountered.
Boros raised both arms, and a barrage of lightning bolts erupted from his body…
Just like that, dozens of lightning arcs tore through the air in every direction. The attack wasn't focused solely on Seraphiel…
Apparently, it was a wide-area burst meant to destabilize the shelter's defenses and disrupt the formation of the Holy Knights who had begun to regroup nearby.
Seraphiel responded immediately.
She didn't dodge or flinch. Instead, she swept her sword in a wide arc, and the runes along its edge ignited with radiant energy.
"Ha!"
A barrier of light formed around her, expanding outward like a wave...
The lightning bolts collided with the barrier and were absorbed, redirected harmlessly into the upper dome, where they dispersed into the storm clouds above!
The defenders, now able to see clearly thanks to Seraphiel's illumination, began to reposition.
The trenches had been cleared of lesser zombies, and the Priests had stabilized the holy barrier that protected the shelter's perimeter.
With the battlefield under control, the remaining forces turned their attention to the final threat.
Indeed!
It was time to work together to deal with the Zombie Lord!
Natalie issued new orders through her radio, directing ranged units to focus fire on Boros while melee units prepared to assist Seraphiel.
The Holy Knights, now fully assembled, advanced in formation… A total of twelve Holy Knights clad in white armor were soon behind the Saint Knight!
Boros attempted to retreat, hovering backward as he searched for another zombie to devour, but the battlefield had mostly cleared. There were almost no minions to consume or cores to absorb. His regeneration cycle had been cut off.
Seraphiel didn't give him time to adapt.
She raised her sword high, and the light orbs surrounding her pulsed once more.
Several of them shot downward, striking the ground near Boros and creating radiant explosions that forced him to brace himself.
The Holy Knights seized the opportunity, closing in from both flanks and striking with coordinated precision.
"Defeat the evil!"
"Destroy his corruption!"
Two blades pierced Boros's side, while another slammed into his back, disrupting his hover and forcing him to the ground.
The Zombie Lord roared in anger as lightning flashed wildly around him, but Seraphiel was already in motion.
She stepped forward, her blade descended in a radiant arc that cleaved through the air!
The runes along the sword were brighter than ever, and the conductor rods along Boros's spine shattered under the impact.
Crash!
The Zombie Lord's body convulsed, lightning surging outward in a final burst of desperation, but Seraphiel's armor absorbed the blast without faltering.
She didn't hesitate. With one final thrust, she drove her sword through Boros's core, severing the last remnants of his energy source.
The Zombie Lord's body twitched once, then collapsed.
[ You have eliminated Lightning Boros, a Lord-Tier Zombie. ]
A wave of silence swept across the battlefield.
The rain continued to fall, but the storm had lost its ferocity as soon as the Zombie Lord collapsed and turned into a red crystal...
As for the remaining Zombies, they were easily defeated without the support or space that the Zombie Lord created for them…
Soon, the defenders lowered their weapons, the Priests dropped to their knees in exhaustion, and the Bishops began to regroup for post-battle recovery.
Natalie sighed as she couldn't help but pray that there weren't any more weird Zombie Lords that could wield elements, like some sort of Magician, that would ever appear!

Natalie then opened his system and confirmed that the Red Night Event still had more than 17 hours to go.
She tapped the interface and opened the Regional Chat.
Just like what the notification before had mentioned, system functions like chat and others would work during the Red Night Event, unlike the Zombie Wave Event, which limits the Chat Feature.
Soon, she noticed that the feed was moving fast. She didn't expect there were so many Survivors online right now.
[ Tori: We just survived a wave of Crawlers and Screamers. Lost two walls, but the core is intact. Our Fire Mage squad is down to half strength. Anyone else want to join us? We are here at Sector 11's Chocolate Mountain. If you have Zombie Cores. Come to us. ]
[ Lance: We had a Frost Zombie Lord show an hour ago. Had to use thermal grenades to break the ice. I hope this information helps. ]
[ Shane: Thanks for that information. I just bought a few thermal grenades in the Marketplace. ]
[ Lance: Oh! Shane! It's an honor to help! ]
[ Kris: Damn… Frost-type Lords? That's new. We've only seen brute-types so far. ]
[ Jun: I'd take frost over what we got. Ours summoned flying zombies. Flying. With wings. I'm not joking. ]
[ Leo: Confirmed. We had one too. They're called Harpy Zombies on my side. They scream and divebomb. One took out our magic tower. ]
[ Jamina: Our shelter's stable for now. No Lords yet, just waves of infected. But we're hearing rumors of a Poison-type Lord heading toward another shelter nearby. Anyone got info on that? There are only 30 of us in our shelter, so that's probably why we weren't facing any Zombie Lords yet… ]
