Chapter 11
The water was misty.
In the hotel bathroom, Liu Jin’an struggled to raise his arm, holding a dark plaster between his two fingers, trying to reach the bruise on his back.
Old Zhou had bought the plaster and said it was very famous. It was a good plaster that had been passed down for hundreds of years, and everyone who had used it said it was effective.
The moment the wound came into contact with the plaster, a chill penetrated along the skin and into the flesh. The pain was instantly amplified countless times, and even the label of masochist could not suppress it.
“Hiss!”
Liu Jin’an drew a sharp breath; he had never felt such pain in his life!
Just as he was about to peel off the plaster, he suddenly found that the pain had subsided sharply. The injured area was ice cold, and it no longer hurt at all.
No way, such an immediate effect?
Long-term pain was worse than short-term pain.
Liu Jin’an simply applied the remaining plaster to every wound.
He had been beaten by Gu Hongwu just the day before, and he had been punched twice again that evening. His body carried old injuries and new injuries, with more than a dozen large and small bruises.
More than a dozen places transmitted severe pain signals to his brain. The intensity of the pain was unimaginable.
Severe pain hit him, and Liu Jin’an almost fainted. The blood in his body seemed to freeze, leaving him bone-chilled.
In a daze, he seemed to see the yellow river.
One second, two seconds…
Every second was torture for Liu Jin’an.
A few minutes passed, and after surviving the initial bout of severe pain, Liu Jin’an’s expression finally became less ferocious.
He wiped the sweat from his face with a bath towel and seemed to notice something. With a thought, the Book of Superpowers appeared in front of him.
On the page of the ability column, new writing had appeared: Resistance to Poison Level 1.
Liu Jin’an: “…”
What raw materials were used for these plasters?
Old Zhou had also said that it was very famous. Could it have been on the news about poisoning people to death?
Even more amusing, when he woke up, he found that there was another ability in the Book of Superpowers: Self-Healing Level 1.
Self-healing?
Liu Jin’an suddenly became energetic. The ability to heal himself was very useful in a post-apocalyptic world where crises were everywhere and medical treatment was scarce.
It was mentioned in novels that a person with self-healing powers could regenerate limbs over time, even if they were cut off, as long as they didn’t die!
In other words, as long as he wasn’t fatally injured, he was an invincible little cockroach!
It was difficult to find sharp objects in the hotel room. Liu Jin’an rummaged for a while and finally found a nail clipper in the bedside table.
He gritted his teeth and cut off a small piece of skin on his finger. Bright red blood flowed out.
To better observe the changes in the wound, Liu Jin’an used a paper towel to absorb the blood beads. Without the obstruction of blood, he could clearly see the outward wound and the tender flesh inside.
Blood seeped out again.
Liu Jin’an cleaned the blood again and repeated it three times before the wound stopped bleeding.
Did the bleeding stop so quickly?
It had only taken two minutes.
Liu Jin’an carefully inspected the wound. Apart from no longer bleeding, no changes could be seen with the naked eye.
It seemed that the wound wouldn’t heal so quickly for a while.
Just as Hu Jianye and his parents called him to eat, he put on a backpack containing a bank card and a pistol and met everyone on the first floor.
After breakfast, the injury on Liu Jin’an’s finger had completely healed.
He stroked the new pink flesh and secretly lamented that the self-healing ability was indeed not as impressive as higher-level superpowers. It had taken nearly an hour for such a small wound to heal completely.
But this was just the first-level effect.
He had estimated the night before that if the damage reduction by the first-level anti-hit ability was 1, then the second level would be about 1.5, and the third level 2.
According to this trend, when the self-healing ability increased to level three, the self-healing speed should be twice as fast as it was now.
By then, he would really be an unbeatable little cockroach!
“Good morning, everyone.”
After a night of recovery, Zhang Yaoyao looked much better than she had the night before.
Everyone greeted each other with a “good morning,” and Zhang Yaoyao grabbed a meat bun, stuffing it into her mouth. While chewing, she muttered and asked Liu Jin’an where he planned to go today.
Liu Jin’an thought for a moment and said, “Sister Zhang, I need to rent a few warehouses and buy a lot of water, food, and daily necessities.”
Zhang Yaoyao was stunned. She swallowed the food in her mouth and asked in confusion, “What do you want these things for?”
“I want to open a few grocery stores and daily necessities stores here,” Liu Jin’an replied, having already thought of an excuse. “Yesterday, I saw Yuncheng’s street stall culture, which is very unique.
“But I think everyone has their own preferences, and I hope my store can be convenient for them when they want to buy specific items. Street stalls can be an option, but they shouldn’t be the only option.”
Hu Jianye applauded the idea, and even Hu Deyi couldn’t help but ask him, “Is it possible that the acquirer you mentioned, is you?”
Liu Jin’an chuckled and said, “Uncle, what are you thinking about? But I did reserve a shop for you to sell our home-raised local pork.”
“When you say that, I feel confident,” Zhang Yaoyao breathed a sigh of relief. “I was really afraid that if you started a business impulsively, you’d lose everything.”
She shook the truck key in her hand and said, “Let’s go. Sister will take you to get the goods. Don’t worry—with me here, those suppliers won’t dare to cheat you.”
‘When you feel really sleepy, someone gives you a pillow.’
Liu Jin’an felt extremely lucky to have saved Zhang Yaoyao the night before. With Zhang Yaoyao around, she saved him countless troubles.
“An’an, Sister Zhang, can you take me with you?” Hu Jianye asked eagerly.
Zhang Yaoyao gave Liu Jin’an a questioning look.
It wasn’t a bad idea to bring Hu Jianye with them. He could serve as an extra free labour force.
Liu Jin’an agreed, and Hu Jianye started jumping with excitement.
Hu Deyi and Zhang Qianwen silently distanced themselves from him. They couldn’t believe they had such an embarrassing son!
“Uncle, Aunt, I’ll trouble you with renting a warehouse. The price is not an issue—the location is best around here.” Liu Jin’an handed a bank card to the two elders, then leaned into their ears and quietly told them the password.
“There’s 10 million here!”
Hu Deyi and Zhang Qianwen looked at each other, stunned. They had never seen so much money in their lives!
Xiao An, this kid, handed over 10 million so lightly as if it were nothing.
To anyone else, it might have seemed like the card contained only two or three thousand.
Zhang Qianwen stroked Liu Jin’an’s head lovingly and said, “Xiao An, don’t worry. Your Uncle Hu and I will definitely help you get this done. Next time, don’t give such expensive things to others so casually…”
“Aunt, Uncle, you and Jianye are not ‘others.’ You’re my family.”
Liu Jin’an still didn’t know why there was no trace of the Hu family in the novel.
He only knew that a child who had not been loved by his adoptive parents since he was a baby would have died in that cold winter many years ago if not for the Hu family’s compassion and care.
What was family love? He had never experienced even half of it from his adoptive parents or biological parents.
For him, if family love had a name, it must have been Hu Jianye, Hu Deyi, and Zhang Qianwen.
He buried his head into Zhang Qianwen’s soft neck and silently prayed in his heart.
As a family, they had to live well.
