Chapter 321: 321: The Skeleton Druid’s Arsenal
That single, weightless page of parchment sliced through the air far faster than its flimsy material should allow, tearing the space before landing on the ground.
In an instant, the ground within four or five meters seemed to wither and die.
A thick aura of death filled the air, making everyone instinctively take another step back in alarm.
They had never seen anything so bizarre… so evil.
"Ryen! What is that?"
Ganyu gripped Ryen's arm tightly, her voice urgent.
His expression turned strangely complicated as he slowly answered,
"Death magic."
"Death magic?! What kind of magic is that? Does this world have an actual magic system?"
Lisa frowned deeply, her gaze locked on the rustling bushes ahead.
Ryen shook his head.
"It wasn't supposed to… but something's changed. We'll deal with explanations later — for now, take down the enemy. And don't engage in melee!"
At last, the shaking foliage revealed a strange figure.
Its entire body was a sickly green, radiating an unsettling aura, and in its hands was a staff.
No one planned to negotiate — not when this thing had opened with an attack.
It was obviously not a creature you could reason with.
Only Ryen felt his heart sink.
The moment that necromantic page appeared, he'd had a bad feeling.
Now, seeing the enemy clearly, his suspicion was confirmed.
He silently cursed the system for being so unhelpful — not even a warning about something this important!
"…A Skeleton Druid."
Even as he spoke, the Skeleton Druid swung its staff again.
A massive fireball roared forth, hurtling toward the group.
"Explosive Fireball! Fall back!"
Ryen grabbed Ganyu and Ningguang, pulling them back, while the others quickly followed.
The fireball didn't strike anyone, instead hovering in midair.
A moment later — BOOM!
The explosion ripped the ground apart, leaving a massive crater.
"This guy… it has advanced-level spells?"
Ryen muttered.
Beside him, Ganyu raised her longbow, ready to shoot, but Ryen waved her off.
"Wait. I want to see what other spells this thing can use."
The group hesitated but nodded.
The Skeleton Druid swung its staff once more.
This time, five powerful shields formed around its body.
"Lich Barrier… tch, you really know how to mix your spells."
Planting its staff into the ground, the Skeleton Druid summoned a fire beetle.
Ryen couldn't help but admire it.
"Good grief… if I didn't know you were a monster, I'd almost think some player had created you."
"Ryen?"
Ningguang glanced at him worriedly, but he waved a hand.
"Fire Beetle Summoning. Just kill the beetle and we're fine."
The words had barely left his mouth before BANG! — Venti's shot blew the beetle into nothingness, and in the process, one of the Skeleton Druid's shields shattered.
"Just one last one left…"
Ryen murmured quietly.
The Skeleton Druid before them had already shown two offensive spells, one utility spell, and now a summoning spell.
That alone was already an excellent loadout.
Only one last spell slot remained…
Ryen was itching to see what the creature's trump card would be.
The Skeleton Druid, clearly angered, released a surge of killing intent.
It muttered something under its breath, lifting its staff high.
Threads of crimson lightning began gathering around it.
Ryen's eyes widened in alarm.
"Fall back! Fall back! Keep retreating!"
The instant that blood-red lightning appeared, everyone felt a suffocating sense of mortal danger.
It was as if this place had turned into a forbidden zone.
They scrambled back over twenty meters before the crimson thunder condensed fully.
Within a radius of seven meters, scarlet lightning crackled and flashed nonstop.
Bzzzt! Crackle!
Ryen let out a breath of relief.
"Looks like it's just the most basic form of the Singularity… that was close."
At his words, Rosalyne frowned in puzzlement.
"What kind of strange lightning spell is that?"
"Lightning?"
Ryen gave a bitter smile and shook his head.
This thing…
It even had a sort of scientific principle behind it.
Still, he explained in terms they could understand:
"The Singularity is a master-level lightning spell.
Once cast, it forcibly pulls in all nearby living beings and continuously deals lightning damage.
Once you're caught in that pull, there's no escaping — you can only watch yourself get fried alive.
But the mana drain is huge. Without a master-tier staff, there's no way to sustain it for long.
And this is just the most basic form — if it were upgraded, the destructive power would be far, far worse."
His eyes burned as he stared at the Skeleton Druid.
Necromantic page — a death-curse spell.
Explosive Fireball — devastating blast magic.
Lich Barrier and Fire Beetle Summoning…
And now, topped off with Singularity.
There was no doubt — that was a master-tier staff.
And the build was perfectly put together.
"Nice toy. I'll be taking it."
Ryen flipped his hand, pulling out his Vampiric Staff.
Normally, he'd think the vampiric staff looked plenty impressive…
But compared to that Skeleton Druid's master-tier weapon, it suddenly felt a bit shabby.
Still…
It wouldn't be long before that staff was his.
The vampiric staff might be plain, but it was more than enough to kill a Skeleton Druid.
