Galatic Overlord:I Can Copy Other's Ability

Chapter 38: 38:Enemies Meeting At Narrow Road

The medical tests in the next room were far more detailed than the ones Hex had gone through before.

Every piece of his data was collected. The staff scanned his body, checked his vitals, and noted down everything without saying a word.

Once the examinations were done, students were led out in small groups. Those found with diseases or physical problems were separated from the rest. No one knew where they were being taken. Hex thought quietly to himself that they might be thrown out.

At the end of the check, people in military uniforms came by and handed each student a sleek, black watch. Hex wanted to ask what it was for, but since no one else asked, he kept quiet. He took the watch and followed the others, strapping it onto his wrist. The moment it clicked into place, a sharp stinging sensation spread under his skin.

Hex tapped the display, but the screen refused to respond. He frowned but decided not to bother with it for now. Soon, they were called again.

One by one names were called asking them to follow a passage.Hex was called to enter the second passage.

The group moved together, following the soldiers through a massive entrance. As they stepped outside, Hex's breath caught in his throat.

They were standing on a huge platform, and all around them were other platforms suspended in the sky. From above and below, stars shone bright and endless. There was no ground beneath them, only the vast, dark expanse of space.

Gasps and murmurs spread among the cadets.

"Where the hell are we?" someone whispered.

"Is this… space? For real?" another asked, eyes wide.

"I can see stars all around us. We're floating out here," a girl said, her voice trembling with awe.

"This is insane… how's this even possible?"

Before anyone could say more, a commanding voice cut through the noise.

"Silence!"

Everyone turned toward the source. A tall man stood on a raised platform at the far end, his voice firm and echoing.

"The test results have been finalized, along with your ranks," he announced. "You may now access them through your watch. Tap the display."

Hex did as instructed. This time, the screen lit up, projecting a small holographic panel above his wrist.

Name: Hex

Rank: 1298 / 15000

Year: 1st

Hex stared at the number, his brows furrowing. He remembered scoring around 900 points. From what Aon and Argent had said earlier, he had been among the top ranks before. But since he was ejected on the third day, others had easily overtaken him.

Thinking about it, his stomach tightened. 'If they find out it was me who caused the early ejection, I'll be everyone's number one enemy.' He hissed under his breath, then forced himself to calm down. 'It's not bad. Better to be here than at the very top and have every target on my back.'

The man's voice echoed again, pulling everyone's attention.

"Since you have now seen your rank, congratulations. You are officially enrolled in the Federation Galactic Global Army."

A low murmur ran through the crowd.

"This in itself is a notable achievement," the man continued. "The test was designed to analyze your reaction to danger and your decisions under extreme stress. Anyone who survived the first day already proved themselves worthy."

"I am Vice Principal Hazel, and I welcome you here. Your rank will determine your class and your access to resources. A low rank does not mean you will be left behind, but you will need to show potential and earn Army Points to climb higher."

He clapped his hands once.

Hex looked down as his watch buzzed, a new download starting.

"The watch you are wearing will be your closest companion on campus. It contains the campus map, stores all study material, and comes with its own AI assistant. Just now, you received the basic techniques pack. Some of you may have purchased them before, but not everyone is fortunate enough to afford such things. These techniques come with full guidance and videos. Study them well."

"Now you will be led to your dormitories. Take the rest of the day to recover. Report to your class tomorrow morning."

The crowd erupted into quiet conversation as they started to move.

"Federation Galactic Global Army… that's huge," a boy muttered to his friend.

"Yeah….Didn't think I'd actually make it."

"My rank's lower than I hoped, but I'll climb up," another said with determination.

"Wonder what the dorms are like," someone else added.

"I'm just glad the test is over. That was brutal."

"You think they'll let us explore the city?"

The massive platform beneath their feet began to move. Smoothly and silently, it floated forward through the air. Despite flying, there was no vibration or wind.

The view ahead changed as they descended toward a massive city that sprawled across a space station. Towering buildings rose high, their lights glowing in the void of space. Other platforms carrying groups of cadets landed one by one on large docking stands.

Hex's eyes scanned the surroundings, taking in the sheer scale of the city. The station's architecture was sleek, metallic, and filled with life. From where he stood, he could see other cadets stepping off their platforms and being guided toward different areas.

His watch gave a soft chime.

[User Hex, follow the map.]

A holographic map appeared above his wrist, a dotted arrow marking a path forward. The line pulsed faintly, guiding him toward his destination.

Hex looked around for Sameer or anyone else familiar, but the crowd was too large and the flow of movement too steady. Not spotting anyone, he let out a quiet breath and decided to follow the map on his own.

....

Hex pushed the door open and stepped into his dorm, and his eyes widened immediately. The place was nothing like the cramped, dusty rooms he had imagined—it was spacious, bright, and gleaming with high-tech elegance.

Neon-blue strips of light ran along the walls and ceiling edges, shifting colors in a slow, soothing cycle. The beds at the far end weren't ordinary bunks but sleek, floating frames suspended a few inches above the ground, humming softly with anti-gravity tech. The sheets looked freshly pressed, with a faint warmth radiating from them as if preheated for comfort.

On one side, a holographic display floated in midair, showing the day's schedule and a customizable interface for entertainment, study, or communication. Hex noticed a wall panel with a touch-sensitive surface—it could shift into a personal storage compartment or even a mini-kitchen depending on the setting. The window wasn't really glass at all; it was a live digital projection, cycling between a view of the bustling city below and a calming ocean scene.

"Woah…" Hex muttered under his breath, running a hand along the smooth wall. "They really weren't kidding about 'state-of-the-art.' This is like living in a five-star space station."

He tossed his bag onto one of the floating beds and took a slow spin around the room, drinking in every detail. He was still admiring the interactive desk, its surface shifting into a glowing keyboard when the door slid open behind him with a soft hiss.

Footsteps echoed in the quiet room, and a figure walked in. The moment their eyes met, both froze. A sudden jolt of recognition hit them, and they screamed in unison.

"IT'S YOUUU!"
