Chapter 52: Chapter 52: Jujutsu Kaisen
As Tong Gu transitioned into the new world, it felt distinctly different from previous journeys into White-tier worlds. This time, there was a faint metallic tang, like the taste of rust, as though he were moving through thick, viscous blood.
In just a moment, his senses began to return. Sniffing the air, Tong Gu realized it wasn't a hallucination during the transfer—the overwhelming stench of blood enveloped him.
[A curse born of love chooses slaughter over protection.]
[Mission initiated. Current world: Jujutsu Kaisen Act I, ID: A311]
[This is an Iron-tier world. Iron-tier characteristic: Slaughter.]
[Main Quest Phase One: Survive the current event and join any faction to unlock subsequent missions.]
Tong Gu scanned the lines of text as they appeared before him. He wasn't surprised to find himself in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen. After all, in this deadly game, Wu ma Yuhe's plans had always been on full display.
Wu ma Yuhe's two most potent abilities, Eight Miracles: Spiritual Binding and Cursed Technique: Cursed Spirit Manipulation, originated from the worlds of The Outcast and Jujutsu Kaisen, respectively. Given the recent deployment of a suspected Special Grade Cursed Spirit to assist Wu Guangzhi, it was clear that Wu ma Yuhe's faction had long been deeply rooted in the Jujutsu Kaisen world.
However, the Iron-tier world's unique "Slaughter" trait was unexpected. Tong Gu wasn't sure whether Wu ma Yuhe had used a special item to manipulate the trait or if it was merely coincidence.
In Iron-tier worlds, [Game of Fate] often introduced hidden themes like Slaughter, Points Accumulation, or Survival Mode. A Slaughter world indicated the presence of multiple "players," and any player who killed another would gain rewards by extracting items or abilities from the victim.
That said, the Slaughter characteristic didn't compel players to fight nor automatically designate them as enemies. It was merely a devilish temptation, encouraging players to raise their blades against one another.
This sinister mechanic was one reason why many players in this game couldn't unite to clear stages. Even among Black Iron or Silver-tier players, sharing mission details was rare.
[Player ID: UD389033995 detected. Current tier: Unranked. Rewards in this world will be adjusted upward, and end-of-mission evaluations will receive bonus enhancements.]
For Tong Gu, this additional reward was merely icing on the cake. The real reason he had willingly walked into this trap was the opportunity to exploit the Permanent Pointer gifted by Wu ma Yuhe. Using it to forcibly enter a world beyond his current tier wouldn't count against his mission cooldown!
This meant that, after this mission, he could still head to the Demon Slayer world to confront Doma and Muzan—assuming he survived.
Tong Gu crouched and touched the blood pooling on the ground. It was still warm, a sign that danger was near.
Thud, thud, thud…
Urgent footsteps echoed down the hallway, resembling children running gleefully through a corridor.
"Ahaha!"
Gleeful laughter accompanied the sounds, growing louder with each passing second.
Tong Gu moved aside a small desk propped against the door, evidence that someone had once tried in vain to barricade themselves here. A pool of warm blood on the floor testified to their grim fate.
Crash!
He yanked open the classroom door and stepped into the corridor, shouting, "Hey, you lot—no running in the halls!"
Three twisted creatures resembling stitched-together white sacks froze in their tracks, as though some deep-seated memory had been stirred. However, the scent of fresh, living human flesh radiating from Tong Gu drove them to madness.
Thin, skeletal arms flailed aimlessly in the air, while their hulking legs charged forward.
As they ran, the seams across their torsos split open, revealing massive tongues that writhed hungrily.
Boom!
A sudden gust of wind swept through the hallway, shattering the glass along the walls. The three creatures were bisected in an instant.
Tong Gu appeared behind the fallen cursed spirits, his long black coat swaying as it revealed a reinforced suit underneath.
"Heh… hahahaha."
Despite being cut in half, the cursed spirits cackled maniacally and began to regenerate their bodies.
"So, Nichirin Blades don't work for exterminating cursed spirits, huh?"
Tong Gu sheathed his Nichirin Blade: Masamune and stored it in his system inventory. As the cursed spirits' bodies continued to mend, he produced a different weapon: a black-sheathed katana.
The Asauchi was so light that when Tong Gu swung it with force, he couldn't even hear the sound of it slicing through the air. Only a clean, brilliant arc of light marked its passage.
The cursed spirits' heads separated from their bodies, and their forms slowly dissipated.
On a distant rooftop, a shadowed figure frowned.
"I didn't hear about the Exploiter acquiring a cursed tool. Could he have just found it in the classroom?"
"Does that kind of luck even exist?"
---
Meanwhile, Wu Guangzhi stumbled out from his hiding spot, trembling uncontrollably as he faced a terrifying aura.
"You… you can't kill me! I'm a Black Iron-tier player—I have the Righteous Hero badge. I—"
His words were cut off as Ju Dongliu raised her hand, black energy coalescing ominously in her palm. The air around her radiated an unsettling, malignant energy that made Wu Guangzhi's knees buckle.
Blood dripped from his nose as his overtaxed brain frantically calculated his next move.
"Stay back! Don't come any closer!"
Boom!
The surrounding space erupted in a violent shockwave, but when the smoke cleared, Ju Dongliu stood unharmed.
"This… this power…" Wu Guangzhi murmured in despair.
In an instant, a flash of black pierced his chest. He looked down in disbelief at the gaping hole where his heart had been. Strength ebbed from his body, but death did not come immediately.
In his final moments, his mind was filled with regret and a desperate yearning to live.
From a distance, Yang Yuanping witnessed Wu Guangzhi's fall. He sighed, fumbling with a lighter that refused to spark. Memories of his youth surfaced—when a brash, eager boy used to run up to him, calling him "Brother Yuanping" and lighting his cigarettes.
Yang Yuanping shoved the thoughts away, nodding toward Ju Dongliu.
"I'll take it from here. Thank you for your assistance."
Ju Dongliu's voice was cold. "You're putting a lot of faith in him. Aren't you afraid Tong Gu will really die in that world?"
Yang Yuanping smiled faintly. "Die? That's not his fate. He doesn't just survive—he sees the truth of these worlds, like a creator who's read their story before it's even written."
