Chapter 193: Discussion Over the Lack of Funds
The arrival of the one-hundred-thousand-man army shocked the members of the Firecrown Supreme Household. Even the patriarch and the elders were alerted.
Everyone was only relieved when Fredrinn explained the whole situation.
At this moment, Fredrinn was in the meeting room with all the important members of the household.
"Fredrinn, what are you going to do with all those soldiers? With our current expenditure, we won't be able to pay them." Roland muttered with a serious look.
The Firecrown Supreme Household was still quite lacking in the business area. And now that Margaret was busy taking care of her newborn daughter, no one was left to take care of the businesses.
Suddenly, a pot-bellied old man spoke up. "How about we stop buying the Blood Myrtle?"
A wave of discussion erupted as soon as he uttered those words.
Everyone knew that it was Fredrinn who suggested to stock up on Blood Myrtle.
They use 100 million star coins every month to purchase all the Blood Myrtle available in Rain City, but until now, they still had no idea why Fredrinn suggested buying those cheap herbs in large quantities.
From what they know, Blood Myrtle was mostly used as a cooling cream to soothe muscle aches and only the commoners used them since the herb was ineffective on martial practitioners.
Other than that, the herb was practically useless.
"What do you think about Sir Glen's suggestion, Fredrinn?" Roland didn't decide immediately and asked for his son's opinion. He was already aware of this huge expenditure on Blood Myrtle, but he believed that Fredrinn had plans for them.
Everyone turned their gazes to Fredrinn, waiting quietly for his response.
"I understand Sir Glen's worries. At the moment, we are losing 100 million star coins every month on the Blood Myrtle. However…"
Fredrinn paused and swept his gaze before he continued.
"Approximately two years from now, the price of this cheap herb will skyrocket. By my estimates, it will go up by more than ten times its current price!"
"What?!" Stay updated with empire
"Ten times the current price?!"
"How is that possible?!"
Everyone was flabbergasted by his words.
If it was the Fredrinn from back then, no one would have believed this. They would pass it up as some random bullshit. However, the Fredrinn now was different from the past. He was an ultimate expert whose cultivation remained unknown. He was also a Great General who commanded a hundred and fifty thousand soldiers!
Because of his identity, everyone took his words seriously.
"How are you so sure, my lord? Can you give us a clue about the situation?" Glen was having a hard time as the household's finance manager so he wanted to get to the bottom of things to ease his worries.
Fredrinn sent him a look, but the old man remained firm with his gaze.
Seeing this, Fredrinn sighed.
"Alright, since Sir Glen wants to know, I might as well tell everyone why I'm doing this."
He had no choice but to explain the matter. It was a bit risky, but he trusted everyone inside this room.
He could see that everyone's favorability was high which means that there was a low chance of them betraying the household.
Everyone adjusted their sitting posture, curious about what he would say next.
"I believe everyone is aware of my relationship with the princess."
When he mentioned this, everyone nodded.
They had seen how attached the princess was to their young lord. It was to the point that she was willing to be his concubine.
"I heard from her that a group of talented alchemists is doing top-secret research on a special product that enhances the quality of Qi inside the martial practitioners' bodies. Once this project is successful, the prices of the ingredients used to make this special product will soar exponentially. And the Blood Myrtle is one of the core ingredients of this product!"
Everyone's eyes widened upon hearing this information. They had never heard of this, but considering that it was secret research, it was understandable that no one had heard of it.
The finance manager, Glen, furrowed his eyebrows and entered into deep thought.
If it was as he had said, the price of Blood Myrtle would definitely rise. However…
"Then what if the research will fail?" Glen stared at Fredrinn deeply.
The elders were in a heated discussion after that.
He was right.
The research could fail, but Fredrinn was someone who had seen the history of the Great Vemune Continent. He knew that the research would succeed, but he couldn't tell them that.
'It looks like I have no choice but to show them my ace in the hole.'
As he thought of this, Fredrinn took out something from his storage space.
It was a huge chunk of Valladium ore.
"Hold on! Is that a Valladium ore?!" Exclaimed a muscular middle-aged man as he stood up in shock.
This man was the only Master-rank Blacksmith in the Firecrown Supreme Household, Norman.
"Valladium ore? What's that?"
Roland and the elders were perplexed by his exaggerated reaction.
Norman's face twitched when he saw the expression on their faces. "I will skip the technical part and just tell you what is special about Valladium ore. That ore is even rarer than orichalcum and magic aquanite. It is also more durable and it can handle even the most volatile type of Qi! That piece of Valladium ore alone should be worth around 1 billion star coins!"
When they heard this, everyone gasped in shock. There was actually such a valuable ore? They couldn't believe it.
"Sir Norman is right. This thing is a piece of Valladium ore and I have a shit ton of this in my possession. If the research of those alchemists really fails, then I'm willing to sell some of this ore to recoup our losses." Fredrinn played with the chunk of ore which filled everyone's heart with unease.
It was a valuable ore worth 1 billion star coins for god's sake! How could he mess around with it as if it was just a normal stone?
