Forest Ranger, starting from Picking Up a Lynx Girl

Chapter 571: Delivery Room of Choice, Safe Mother and Daughter (Part 2)

No choice, this might be the only case in the world. Whether there will be another depends on the luck of Jinya and Little Jin in the future.

In the later stages of pregnancy, Jinya seemed to gradually awaken her maternal instincts. She became anxious, wanting to find a safe place to give birth.

Normally, lynxes choose tree hollows, rock crevices, or dense shrubs as nests, the more concealed the better. This provides a sense of security for the mother cat and newborns during birth.

But Jinya wandered around the maternity center and couldn't find a satisfactory place. Finally, she took a liking to the space under Chen Ying's bed...

To ensure Jinya could settle down and give birth peacefully, Chen Ying personally cleaned under his bed, installed a dim light that wouldn't harm the mother cat, and set up two night-vision cameras.

On the day Jinya gave birth, the second floor became off-limits. Except for Chen Ying, no one was allowed to approach.

Brother Leopard, Leopard Sister, and Little Jin occupied the three passages to the second floor, standing guard vigilantly without moving.

Even Bai Bingyang, who was usually lazy, took the initiative to patrol around the house. The last time Bai Bingyang actively did anything was... the last time.

Jinya started labor from around 8 p.m., and finally delivered at 2:18 a.m.

A newborn cub weighing 263 grams, eyes closed, with no hearing, a loud cry, body covered with light-colored down, and no visible fur pattern for now.

After giving birth, Jinya was momentarily in a state of complete confusion and didn't even know to bite the umbilical cord.

Chen Ying hoped Jinya could take full responsibility for the birthing process, as it would be an essential experience for her future life. If the cub is healthy and normal, the female cub must learn this knowledge from her mother.

But from the current situation, Jinya seemed momentarily unaware of what she needed to do. For the safety of the cub and Jinya, Chen Ying was prepared to intervene manually.

Fortunately, although Jinya lacked experience, she had two good confidants, especially Er Niu, who had been through the process of pregnancy and delivery. Even though she didn't help Er Niu handle the newborn, she learned what she needed to know from Er Niu and Leopard Sister.

After a dozen seconds, just before Chen Ying was about to intervene manually, Jinya tentatively bit the umbilical cord, swallowed the placenta, and then carefully pulled the cub into her embrace. It took her a while before she realized she needed to nurse.

But now Jinya faced a problem beyond her ability to solve... She seemed to have no milk for the cub!

Jinya let out a short, anxious cry, and Chen Ying immediately crawled under the bed.

"Jinya, don't worry, I'm here. Do you need my help?"

"Oh, Two-legged beast, what should my baby eat?"

The dim light shone on Jinya's small furry face, visibly depicting her panic.

"Don't worry, it will come."

Chen Ying gestured for Jinya to lie on her side, put on gloves, gently picked up the little cub, awkwardly weighed it quickly, and checked its limbs.

Very good, a healthy little girl, at least outwardly healthy.

The examination was completed in front of the camera, with someone else responsible for recording data as Chen Ying worked.

After the check-up, Chen Ying placed the little one in front of Jinya's belly, located the food source, massaged it a bit, and the cub finally took her first sip of maternal milk.

Watching the little cub diligently nursing, Chen Ying patted Jinya's head, backed out, and prepared Jinya's recovery meal.

Little Sen had already prepared Jinya's recovery meal and quickly handed it over when Chen Ying came downstairs.

"No problem. Jinya and the baby are both fine. Everyone, take your rest. We have work tomorrow."

Dr. Chen volunteered for the night shift, letting the slightly older Dr. Ou take a rest.

Professor Bai turned off the lights and went to sleep. Whether he could sleep or not was uncertain, but at least half of the burden in his heart was lifted.

Dao Meihua didn't return to the rescue station. She went to Xiaozhai Village to see her mother and brother, and watched Jinya's birthing process in the evening via Mengmeng's shared livestream.

Chen Ying didn't dare to leave at night, sleeping on the floor at the door. When he woke up feeling pins and needles in his legs, he looked up to find that Jinya had moved the little cub to his bedding.

Carefully checking the little cub's body again, particularly the ears and tail, Chen Ying fell into deep thought.

Confirmed, this cub might lean more towards the Golden Cat. Indeed, daughters do resemble their fathers, don't they?

Comparatively, the little cub's tail is much longer than the short, fat lynx tail, but not as long as that of a normal feline. In terms of proportion, it's a bit like a Fishing Cat's tail. The ears don't show if there's tufted hair, but the face resembles Jinya, especially when Jinya was young, almost identical.

Whether the little cub takes more after the mother or father might need genetic testing to determine.

The little cub cannot crawl yet. Aside from its loud cries for needs, it has no other activities, eating and sleeping, then growing rapidly, visibly changing day by day.

Since there's no worry about food and only one cub to feed, Jinya is enjoying her postpartum period comfortably, gaining six pounds in just ten days!

The expert team discussed it and decided to control Jinya's diet to prevent the cub from developing high cholesterol.

Fortunately, a week later, Jinya was completely comfortable letting Chen Ying take care of the cub. She took fixed morning and evening walks and brought back some adrenaline-pumping excitement on the ninth day.
