Forest Ranger, starting from Picking Up a Lynx Girl

Chapter 557: Shocked—Dissimilar Falcons, How to Relate (Part 3)

How can any eggs remain whole under a toppled nest!

The female bird doesn't know the cause, but it knows these two monkeys destroyed its home and killed its children!

Oh dear, this is a life-and-death feud.

Chen Ying had such a headache it felt like her brain was going to explode, "Brother Monkey, how about we move? The rescue station back there is pretty good, you can come back after these birds leave."

Brother Monkey was a bit reluctant to agree, as even Golden Snub-Nosed Monkeys have their little tempers despite their generally gentle nature.

But Chen Ying had dealt with Brother Monkey before and knew its weaknesses.

"Look, quite a few of your tribe members are injured, and after going back, they need to be checked one by one to make sure everything's okay before they can move freely. If there's something wrong, it needs to be treated early; what if something serious happens?"

The Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey troop doesn't have as strict of a hierarchy as the macaques and Tibetan Chief Monkeys; they usually form a larger community from smaller family units. Although Brother Monkey is the Monkey King, it can't always command every monkey.

Fortunately, quite a few in this small troop have been living with Brother Monkey since they were young and are willing to follow its lead. When Brother Monkey gave the order, the troop started to voluntarily evacuate their home.

"Brother Monkey, take your wife and kids over first. That little monkey's head is injured and needs a change of medication, don't delay, you hear? I'll return to the other side with that Two-legged beast, I still have some work to finish."

Brother Monkey nodded indifferently. It was familiar with the rescue station, and if it weren't for the fact that Chen Ying wasn't around these past two years and several unfamiliar Two-legged beasts had showed up, Brother Monkey wouldn't have led the troop to move here.

Who knew that as they were setting off, the monkey baby would act up again. It refused to follow its mom and insisted on clinging to Chen Ying, even showing its little rice teeth to its mother.

Seeing that some monkey babies were about to be spanked, Chen Ying took the initiative, taking the monkey baby from its mother's arms and running away with it under the mother's angry gaze.

The mother monkey tried to chase but was stopped by Brother Monkey and another older female monkey, who squeaked at each other, communicating something unknown.

Chen Ying carried the monkey baby, pulling the female Observer along to the trees at the edge of the cliff and marked the spot.

"Does the bird watching station have any artificial bird nests? The Golden Snub-Nosed Monkeys destroyed their nests, so let's compensate them with one. It's better to resolve feuds than create them, let's hope, for the sake of the new nest, they'll give up on revenge."

As for why the rarely seen passing falcon would help the peregrine falcon fight against the monkey troop, let that be something for the bird researchers to explore.

"We do, should I go get it?"

"No need, contact your partner and have her prepare it immediately, and I'll go fetch it. The sky's still light, let's get it done quickly so the couple has a place to spend the night."

This year, the peregrine falcon couple won't be able to have chicks. Let's hope they'll fulfill their reproductive duties next year.

By the time it was dusk, the bird's nest was finally securely fixed.

This time, with the ranger's assistance, they set the artificial bird's nest in a recess of the cliff and placed straw from the half-destroyed nest inside, hoping to attract the falcon couple to move in.

However, a week later, the two observers confirmed that the male bird had left, while the female remained, cautiously testing for three or four days before finally settling into the new bird's nest, abandoning its daily search for the monkey troop to seek revenge.

Surprisingly, the falcon that was supposed to be just passing through also stayed, taking over an abandoned nest on a nearby cliff. It would make routine visits to the female peregrine falcon's nest, occasionally bringing a mouse or small bird as a gift.

"Oh my God, have these two falcons fallen for each other?" The young female observer was so shocked her voice cracked.
