Chapter 1035: Find a Boat to Play the Fish

"Got one, and it's not small!" Yue Feng called out in a low voice, his entire body already bent over and slowly squatting down!

"Huh? Really caught it? How big does it feel?"

"Adjust the drag, don't let it unhook and run away!"

"Call Wen, just tell him Mr. Yue caught a big fish!"

"Brothers in front, please move aside a bit, you're blocking the camera angle, thanks!"

A group of people, the on-duty ones, and those responsible for capturing the footage, all got busy.

After Yue Feng held the rod for about five seconds, he suddenly realized something wasn't quite right.

The fish wasn't moving at the bottom, it was stuck!

"Shoot, the big fish is stuck!" Yue Feng murmured softly, frowning as he glanced at the water's surface.

"Did you see the bites on the bait just now? Could it have snagged on the bottom?" Wawa asked somewhat doubtfully.

Yue Feng shook his head: "Impossible, it first blew bubbles and then bit the bait! It's definitely a big fish! The spot where I made the nest has no obstacles under it! It's one hundred percent stuck!"

"Mr. Yue, since this opportunity came up, why don't you explain to the audience how to handle this situation?" the filming crew suggested, knowing it would make excellent material in the video editing process.

Yue Feng nodded: "Alright, I see there are quite a few people in the live stream and on-site pondering about getting stuck, we've just happened to face it today, so let's have a chat!

First of all, big fish that grow to a certain size in the wild are usually smart and sly individuals. In fact, many of the fish we try to catch have been hooked before, just managed to escape.

Getting 'stuck' refers to a situation where a large fish of certain size, upon swallowing the bait and getting hooked, instinctively reacts to the hook setting by wedging its head or body into the mud and rocks at the bottom.

The fish's size makes it hard to control in water, and once wedged into the muddle and rocks beneath, trying to pull it out by sheer force is very difficult!

So, what's the reasonable way to deal with it?

First, determine that it's a big fish but has gotten stuck; the first thing to do is take the opportunity of the fish's stillness to attach a Slip knot for extra security on the rod,

in case you can't control the fish and the rod goes horizontal, the Slip knot can provide a bit more error tolerance.

The second thing is, if there're other rods nearby, reel in all that are in the way! Provide venue support for playing the fish!

It's best to clear any clutter around and behind you as well, to avoid accidentally stepping into empty space or any other accidents during the struggle with the fish.

Once these preparations are complete, it's time to move on to the main topic, how to deal with the fish being stuck?

The first method is to keep the rod bent and patiently wait it out! The fish is alive, it can't stay wedged in the mud forever. Once it feels safe, it'll come out! This process takes quite a bit of time, some fish could take several hours!

The second method I often use is tapping the rod. By tapping the rod butt to create vibration and noise, you stimulate the fish underwater,

The vibrations through the line and rod can be quite stimulating to the fish. After tapping the rod butt for a while, there's a good chance you'll agitate the fish to start swimming, so you can control it normally!

The third method is a bit more violent. If tapping the rod doesn't work, consider the third method!

I call it the rod shaking method! After bending the rod, exert sideways force to swing it back and forth, you can hit different directions to irritate the fish's wound position. When the fish can't bear the pain, it'll naturally come out to escape!

It's important to note, the first and second method are relatively gentle, and once the fish starts swimming, it mostly won't dash out wildly pulling the line!

But fish stimulated by the third 'rod shaking' method will likely be in a panicked run, this is when it truly tests your skill in playing and controlling the fish!"

"Mr. Yue, everyone is watching, which method do you plan to use?" the director asked again.

Yue Feng smiled: "With so many people watching, we surely can't wait endlessly, let's try the second method and tap the rod!

We're using a Jiao Fishing Rod with over a hundred meters of line, so we won't need the Slip knot! Let's get straight into it!"

After speaking, Yue Feng held the rod steadily with his right hand, and began rhythmically tapping the rod butt with his left hand, making a tapping sound.

Interestingly enough, the fish underwater responded kindly; after tapping about twenty times, Yue Feng felt the fish below start to move, slowly swimming around.

Seeing the movement and change in direction of the fish line on the water's surface, everyone instantly got excited.

"The rod tapping really works!"

"Nice, and the fish isn't darting around!"

"Now that the big fish is being guided, let's enjoy Mr. Yue's demonstration on playing the fish!"

The stream viewers went into a frenzy, eagerly flooding the comment section with discussion.

While Yue Feng was playing the fish, a muffled thud was heard not far away as someone watching kicked over and exploded a thermos cup left on the roadside.

The unexpected thud caused Yue Feng to shrink his neck instinctively feeling uneasy, and his left hand reflexively flicked the drag switch.

The next second, the previously calm fish below the water's surface went berserk, accelerating into the distance.

The fishing rod, which was actually fully lifted, uncontrollably bent downwards, in a blink, almost in a horizontal tug-of-war state.

Yue Feng quickly adjusted the drag, loosening it just a tiny bit, making the sound 'kachakacha' as the drag released line, barely improving the near tug-of-war situation.

This fish had an unexpected amount of strength, moving not fast but very steadily, similar to how you'd imagine a bull steadily plowing a field, with neither speed nor force showing any signs of diminishing.

Seeing the reel's line cup already ran out twenty to thirty meters in the blink of an eye, Yue Feng slightly frowned: "This fish is too big, the hundred-plus meters line in the reel might barely be enough, line's already out thirty meters, pulling nearly locked tight on the drag, there's barely any reaction!"

"What should we do, Mr. Yue? How about attaching another rod end-to-end to this rod, or attaching the Slip knot?" Xiao Hui couldn't help proposing.

Both methods are essentially extending the length of the line, increasing error tolerance while playing the fish, as long as the fish's speed slightly reduces, you can take the chance to reel in line overcoming the current situation.

Yue Feng thought briefly, then shook his head, judging that these methods aren't reliable. If what's connected reaches its end, adjusting afterward would be very passive.

"Is there a boat nearby? A small inflatable one would do! We'll hop onboard!" Yue Feng asked.

"Yes, of course, there is! Over there, there's a small metallic boat for two people! Let me row it over!" Xiao Hui responded, turning and heading out.

A few minutes later, Xiao Hui indeed came back rowing a metal boat to the fishing spot.

This metal boat wasn't very big, about two and a half meters long, looking somewhat worn-out, though the cabin was clean, clearly used by someone not too long ago.
