Chapter 1034: Three Days Waiting, One Moment of Triumph
Most fishermen are lovers of life, and eating is a significant part of life. For a while, the camera panned to Yue Feng preparing various skewers, and rather than losing viewers, the live stream attracted even more than in the afternoon.
Behind the fishing spot, on a spacious area of about tens of square meters, camping lights were already set up. Several fishing stands were lined up together, forming an oversized table. Some people sat on the ground, while others sat on small stools. Although dinner hadn't started yet, the atmosphere was already there.
Looking at Yue Feng, who was busy organizing, the charcoal was already well fired, evenly spread under the barbecue rack for the whole lamb, in the carbon box below.
The barbecue grill was 1.8 meters long, and Yue Feng laid out an impressive one and a half meters of well-burned charcoal. Handmade meat skewers filled the grill. Time to roast!
In terms of professionalism, just looking at this setup tells you enough. Handling so many skewers at once, Yue Feng wasn't hurried at all, expertly flipping the meat skewers, occasionally glancing at the charcoal under the whole lamb, worried it might be overcooked due to uneven heat.
On the other side, on the portable stove, a wild carp was already simmering, and the entire temporary camp emitted a faint fragrance.
"The skewers are done, try them!" Yue Feng grabbed the large iron skewers with both hands and placed the roasted meat directly on the table!
Wawa, the little glutton, couldn't wait and grabbed a piece to taste. With one bite, his eyes squinted with pleasure.
"Wow, the belly pork is perfectly cooked, so fragrant!"
"Didn't see it coming, Feng-ge, you're quite the barbecue prince. Have you done this before? Not bad, not bad, the cooking is perfect, and the seasoning is even!"
Yue Feng grinned: "I've been doing it for about ten years, haha! I've never barbecued professionally, but I've done it with friends every year a few times!
Fishing with precise bait adjustment, such delicate work we can handle, so how hard can it be to barbecue some skewers? You enjoy yourselves, I'll be done soon!"
As he spoke, Yue Feng flipped over the remaining dishes that weren't cooked yet, and the newly freed space was immediately filled with new skewers, unaffected in efficiency!
About half an hour later, the table formed by the fishing stands was full of skewers roasted by Yue Feng. Those tempted by the food had greasy mouths, while Wen-ge and the others held back, waiting for Yue Feng to finish busying himself to start together.
After a while, Yue Feng finished his work and ladled the cooked fresh fish into a serving bowl, adding a handful of cilantro before it came off the stove. Job done!
"The whole lamb still needs some more time to roast, let it turn on its own for now. Let's have a toast!" Yue Feng raised a large beer glass in front of him toward everyone, as more than ten foamy beer glasses clinked together.
...
This little barbecue session went on until close to eleven o'clock before it was considered finished.
With over ten people, all the skewers were devoured, and not much of the roasted lamb was left. The beer cans were beyond description, with bottles strewn all over the ground.
Full and satisfied, Yue Feng insisted on cleaning up before he got in the car and returned to the hotel to rest. The fishing spot and feeding ground were left to Xiao Hui's friend to keep watch, ready to continue the fight tomorrow!
At four o'clock the next morning, Yue Feng got up as dawn was breaking, washed his face, grabbed Wawa, and headed straight to the fishing spot without breakfast.
Early mornings and late evenings are the peak times for big fish to forage, so there may be unexpected catches.
When Yue Feng drove to the fishing spot, he frowned slightly. Sure enough, the fishing box was still on top of the fishing stand, but where were the rods in the rod holders?
Just as he was puzzled, Wawa quickly pointed to the water and said, "Fengfeng, our rod has been dragged into the water! Look at the slip knot on the fishing box!"
Upon closer inspection, sure enough, the slip knot was attached to the end of the fishing rod, located tens of meters away!
Yue Feng pulled the slip knot back, slowly lifting the rod.
"How is it? Is the fish big?" Wawa asked concernedly from behind.
Yue Feng felt the weight and shook his head.
"Not big?"
Yue Feng said nothing, simply lifting the rod to see the culprit appear on the water's surface.
Well now, the hook was securely lodged in the mouth of a fish weighing about one and a half pounds. He thought it was some big catch! Disappointed for nothing!
Once the fish was pulled up, Yue Feng tidied up the fishing rod and line set, and Xiao Hui sleepily came out of the car.
"Teacher Yue, up so early!"
Yue Feng smiled and nodded in greeting: "Yes, what time did you go to bed last night? Stayed up late, must be exhausted, right?"
"Xiao Tao and I took turns watching until past three in the morning. Couldn't hold out any longer and took a nap in the car!" Xiao Hui scratched his head, a bit embarrassed.
"No worries, go catch up on sleep, I'll watch over things! The temperature is cooler in the morning, might get a bite!"
"Alright then, you go ahead and fish, I'll nap for a bit longer!" Xiao Hui was indeed too tired and got back into the car.
...
Meanwhile, Yue Feng opened ten packs of old altar corn kernels, using a scooping tool to bait the spot bit by bit, sitting on the nearby European fishing chair, staring at the water, lost in thought.
All morning, there was no news of fish taking the bait. Around seven o'clock, Wen-ge came by with breakfast, and the dream chasers of Old Turtle Lake were also each busying themselves.
For the next two days, fishing conditions remained poor. The production crew's staff visibly showed a shift from initial eagerness to gradual calmness, eventually losing patience.
In contrast, Yue Feng maintained a good mindset, eating and drinking as needed, sometimes going live to casually chat with viewers to kill the uneventful fishing days.
On the morning of the third day, Yue Feng already dumped in the second box of old altar corn. Throughout these days, only a few small carps were caught, along with a ten-pound grass carp. The haul wasn't ideal.
But Yue Feng's spirit remained high. He moved another box of corn mixed with the market-delivered screws, continuing to bait the spot.
Around ten-thirty in the morning, Yue Feng was playing with short rods for crucian carp when he suddenly noticed a stream of fish bubbles rising from the location nearby.
Unlike ordinary fish bubbles, this stream was active, moving along while trailing like a tail.
Seeing this, Yue Feng quickly straightened up, instinctively grabbing the fishing rod handle.
"What's up, Fengfeng? Did you get a big fish?"
Yue Feng gestured for silence, then focused intently on the float.
At first, there was no movement, but after about five minutes, the float began to tremble slightly.
Suddenly, with a swoosh, the four-and-a-half-eye float was pulled under, disappearing instantly.
Yue Feng's heart sank. He suppressed the urge to immediately lift the rod and strike the fish, counting 123 in his mind before calmly raising the rod to strike.
This fish had much more power than the twenty-pound grass carp before, instantly making Yue Feng realize the fish was sizeable.
After three days of waiting, finally snagged a big fish!
