Fire of god system (F..O.G.S)

Chapter 7: A reliable husband

It had been a few days now, since Kodak had returned back to his home on earth. His village was a small settlement called parasis, located at a discrete part of the earth.

"Coo! Coo!" Little ash cooed softly in Leona's arm, still wrapped in a tender white cloth. Her loving eyes staring at him with joy and happiness, guarding him like someone was going to snatch him away from her.

"Oh! My boy's gonna be strong and big like his daddy one day." Kodak smiled advertising his muscles by lifting his arm up a bit, earning an awkward glare from Leona.

"Hmph! Of course my baby's gonna be big and strong. And it's all thanks to his mother." She scoffed, gently pouting causing Kodak's eye to twitch a bit.

"W-what do you mean woman?" Kodak softly said shaking his head.

"Well am the one feeding him, so he basically gets his strength from his mother." She declared making Kodak smiled softly. A proud look in his eyes, as he raised his hands in defeat. There was no way he could ever win an argument with his wife, he was just too gullible around her.

"Kodak." A voice called out in front, as a new middle aged nurse stood in front gently bowing her head.

"Please Esmeralda.. I've told you not to be so formal around me. It's still the same old Kodak and besides.. it's kinda creepy." Kodak joked, chuckling a bit to which the woman smiled. Her eyes then drifting to little baby ash, clutched tightly in his mother's protective arms.

"H-he's so adorable!" She squeaked excited, going to baby ash. "May I?" She asked pointing, to which Leona smiled.

"Of course Esmeralda.. if it weren't for you all, then I would've surely died." Leona said, gently placing baby ash in Esmeralda's arms.

"Coo!" Little ash cooed softly. his small hands tugging the cloth, as he adjusted himself into a more comfortable position in Esmeralda's arms.

"Awwnn!!" The matured woman squeaked more in excitement, like a young teenage girl staring at baby ash with greedy eyes.

"He's so cute I could just eat him." She jokingly said, causing Leona and Kodak to stare at each other a bit.

"Coo?" Even little baby ash let out a small coo like question, surprised at this matured woman's declaration.

"Hahaha! Now don't we all. Really I shouldn't brag, but he takes his good looks from his father." Kodak bragged, puffing his chest a bit.

"Huh? That's strange.. I clearly remembered you saying he got his looks from his mother." Esmeralda blurted out, shattering Kodak's pride while Leona simply burst out in laughter.

"W-what message do you have for me." Kodak quickly changed the topic, with a light frown seeing he was loosing against a bunch of women.

"Nothing important. it's just, it's been almost a week now you've been in the medical bay and the villagers are elated upon your return. They are eagerly awaiting your presence, as even the elders have called for a town meeting to discuss some of the settlements matters." Esmeralda casually said not batting an eye towards Kodak, seemingly interested with the little bundle of joy in her arms.

'Haa.. duty calls.' Kodak sighed. he then kissed his wife, planting a kiss on her forehead doing the same to the little one.

Walking out the medical bay, he was immediately greeted by three guards stationed outside.

'Wait.. don't tell me they were here the whole time.' Kodak wasn't that surprised seeing these guards here, as he'd sensed them the moment Leona gave birth. He didn't pay much attention though, as he was more focused on his newborn child.

"K-kodak it's an honor to stand before you." A male guard said in an excited tone, bowing his head a bit.

'Here we go again~' Kodak inwardly muttered, knowing what was going to happen next. 'Like seriously, don't they ever stop with the bowing. I mean doesn't their neck or waist hurt?' He'd told them several times not to be so formal around him, as he was also once like them before he became a messanger. But like always, they gave him much more respect than he deserved.

Shaking his head, he steadily caught hold of the remaining two guards knowing their motives. Placing his hands on their shoulders, he then led them away from the bay.

"I've told you all to be stop being tight and formal around me. We're basically the same with slight differences, and not to mention the fact am younger than most of you." Kodak softly said.

"W-we can't possibly do that Kodak. You've done so much for everyone in the village, irrespective of your own challenges." The second guard spoke.

"Yeah.. you leave your wife and go on dangerous missions with the gods, knowing that one day you might die." The third butted in. Kodak knew they were right, as he was still a demigod and not a full god. He only had a fraction of kira's powers, so he was still very far from becoming a god.

Unlike kira who couldn't be killed unless by another god which was impossible, as all the gods were in unity. He could be easily be killed by some attacks and natural disasters, though he would live a very long life if he didn't die in battle.

"Take this last mission for example. you overstayed your usual stays, knowing full well Leona was pregnant with your child. I mean how do you do it? I would've definitely died of a heart attack." The first guard joked causing the group to chuckle a bit, while Kodak had a thought in his mind.

'How do I do it?' He questioned, as he himself didn't know how he managed to block out all the negative thoughts from his head.

'Am not worried a beast might attack the settlement, as kira has placed a protective ruin on it. But still.. am not a god and can die if something goes wrong.' His face slowly contorted into a frown, as he gazed ahead.

When he was in battle he wasn't afraid for some unknown reason, probably because he had kira the god of flames by his side. But remembering what transpired in the temple of the gods, made him begin to think otherwise.

'I-i shouldn't worry about that for now.' Clearing the negative thoughts from his mind, they made their way to the settlement.

"Oh my goodness it's Kodak!" A woman screamed running towards Kodak. Everyone's attention was now directed to him, as they all rushed to him like hungry hyenas fighting for their meal.

"Haha.. I guess am now officially an important figure." Kodak smiled, staring at the stampede of hungry fans rushing for him.

"D-don't worry mister Kodak, we'll protect you." The third guard stuttered clutching his spear tightly, earning an awkward look from the other two and even Kodak.

"W-we will?"

"Of course! don't you two ever learn anything?" The guard frowned at his colleagues with a hint of disdain.

"Look at mister Kodak, did he run from his challenges or let them overcome him? No! He faced them head on no matter how tough they might be." He said, boosting the confidence of his peers as they picked up courage.

"Yeah mister Kodak's the best! I definitely want to be like him in my next life."

"Not only is he a great messanger of the gods, he's also a damn good reliable husband and father and we'll face this storm together!" They yelled in unison, puffing their chest a bit.

"Err.. you're on your own for this one guys." Kodak patted their shoulders, disappearing from his spot the next second leaving the three guards in shock.

"D-did mister Kodak just bail out on us?" The third guard who rallied his fellow colleagues stuttered in disbelief, searching for Kodak but found no signs of him.

.....

"Phew.. that was close." Kodak heaved a sign of relief, appearing at the front of a big cottage at the center of the settlement. Glancing round, he didn't sense any signs of anyone close indicating he was on the safe side for now.

Taking a deep breath, Kodak then proceeded into the cottage via the front wooden door. Entering the cottage it wasn't that spacious, but just about enough to accommodate about six people living here.

"Mister Kodak, you're here already." The female secretary said with glistening eyes, staring at Kodak like a god.

"But how did you manage to get past the people this quickly?" There was a confused look plastered on her face, as she didn't expect Kodak to arrive this fast.

"Ehhm.. let's just say I had some help." Kodak smiled, nervously scratching his head. Nodding, the brunette female then directed Kodak to a door at the end of the room. Opening it, Kodak's eyes befell on the four figures sitting in the room. Their attention was immediately directed towards Kodak the moment the door opened, seemingly expecting him.

"Kodak! it's nice of you to finally join us."
