Final Messiah System

Chapter 7: Sanctum

David and the rest were placed inside of the helicopters and planes before they were flown away to the massive ships in the sky.

It was not long until they were docked into the bay of one of the ships. When the doors opened, everyone was shocked to find what appeared to be a meadow with small housings dotting the landscape.

There were animals and small gardens, too, as if they were teleported back into a painting of the olden times.

Looking up, they found the ceiling had been enchanted to appear more like the cloudy blue sky of everyday life rather than just a flat metal surface.

"Where are we?" One of the students looked at the ground curiously.

"Did we get teleported somewhere else?" Asked another as she walked towards a tree.

One of the Paladins, who seemed to be a young man with long black hair and blue eyes, removed his helmet and shook his head.

"We are in Sanctum Raphaelus. One of the many airships you saw above. Its interior has been modified to resemble a countryside a hundred years ago before the demons came to destroy it."

Mary looked around, starry eyes as she gripped her staff. "It's beautiful, so serene… I can't imagine life was ever like this before."

Jacob got off, shoving aside others as he went ahead "So this is what it looked like back then? Seems so… empty…"

He seemed kind of disappointed in a way, almost as if he was scoffing at everything all around him but at the same time semi-appreciating it for the peace.

The Paladin eyed him carefully before turning away. "Well of course, back then life was much more simple, one could live out in the wild without being under the danger of demons or monsters attacking them. Now, we don't have such luxury."

For a few moments, everyone simply enjoyed the sights while many more helicopters and planes docked on the bay, releasing more people until everyone was finally settled in.

At that moment, Alexandra took charge once again, striding forward until all eyes were on her.

"We shall be conducting interviews with each one of you. When it is your time, we will come to you. While waiting, all of you can partake in any matter of recreational activities."

Her eyes then seemed to darken, or perhaps that was only David's imagination.

"Be warned, do not cause any trouble here or you shall be dealt with accordingly. You are on our land now, and you shall abide by our rules, does everyone understand?"

A wave of obedience washed over everyone, causing David to nearly double over for a bit while he and the others nodded along.

"Good. Now then, let us begin. We shall start with the staff members and officials."

Many of the Priests and Paladins then rounded up the teachers, professors and officials from the government while the students were left to their own devices.

"What was that…" David muttered softly to himself while rubbing his head.

"That was a C Rank Skill, known as [Voice Of The Saintess]. It holds similar abilities to the [Speech Of Authority] skill. She used it to ensure compliance amongst everyone here."

David began to wander a little aimlessly, well first he went to Mary to make sure she was safe because she started to walk towards the village.

He looked back to find that Jacob and his cronies were busy playing soccer with a sphere of mana, hopefully that doesn't devolve to anything soon.

"Do you think I should tell them about the truth? I mean, this is the Amaranth, isn't this literally the organization that your previous owner made? If anyone needs to know that I have this system, shouldn't it be them?"

"No. They should not know either. They were also ambushed by demons when your System was revealed, meaning that they were made targets of as well. Any revelation to them would cause heavy damage if prolonged."

David stopped in his tracks and frowned. "But they were able to stop it weren't they?"

"Yes, but it shows that any outward knowledge of your System attracts demons."

"Wait… but if the demons could just open a Chasm Entrance to this world that easily to find me, how come they wouldn't do that normally? Wouldn't there be more all around the planet?"

"You are correct, which leads me to a few possible conclusions. One is that the System is inherently tied to the Chasm in some way, and perhaps the Demon King connected with it when he killed my previous master, allowing him to send his minions more frequently once you awakened it."

"Okay, that's a little scary…"

"Another is that the demonic invasion has already happened, but in a much more covert manner, infiltrating the upper echelons of society to control the others, using this secrecy to mask themselves until this System, the one true threat to them was awakened."

"Okay, that's much worse than the other one… man, so I have to keep this all a secret then. What a pain, I was really hoping someone could help me out."

He shook his head in disappointment before entering the small village-like homestead, looking around to find himself in what can only be described as the starting level of a fantasy RPG.

There was a blacksmith area currently with someone hammering away at a piece of metal. A nearby potion making area where an alchemist is brewing.

And most interesting enough, a large stone church right in the middle.

Of course, there were churches everywhere, ever since the gods revealed themselves to the world alongside all the other supernatural elements.

They operated differently from others, such as mortals. Their powers come from their spheres of influence, such as water for the goddess of water and air for the god of air.

However, there could be multiple gods with the same spheres, usually this leads to fighting amongst them with the winner being declared the true god of that category.

Over the hundred of years this has happened, it ended up with what most agreed to be the main Celestial Pantheon of the world:

There were Seven main goddesses, all of whom were the strongest of the strong and rumors were told of how they were able to assimilate other gods to their powers.

Athoth the Goddess of Fantasy, Eloais the Goddess of Mind, Astaphaios the Goddess of Cycles, Yao the Goddess of Reality, Sabaoth the Goddess of Order, Adonin the Goddess of Destiny and Sabbataios the Goddess of Transcendence.

It was said that their power was so great that they mostly stayed out of the world to not be swayed by petty orders.

However, every so often, they could send blessings and messengers to those who need them, especially those who worship them.

Of course, there were minor gods and goddesses under them, far weaker, but they were the ones with more appearances.

Perhaps if he had the chance, he could tell them about it and they could help him.

David entered inside of the church, wandering around the pews before he found Mary kneeling and praying silently.

He awkwardly sat beside her, but before he could make a move, Thamiel spoke to him.

"Leyline-Like structure found. The option to Synthesize has been unlocked."

"The what now?"

A menu appeared in front of his face that had a set of inventory to the left and a sort of crafting UI to the right.

"Within these zones you would be able to synthesize items and materials using what you have gathered."

"…So like, nothing? I don't remember collecting drops from demons… demons also can't even drop anything. Also aren't Artificers, Alchemist, Blacksmiths and classes like them the only ones that could do this?"

Drops from monsters were common, especially since you would just grab it from their corpses.

Demons on the other hand, because their bodies literally disappear after they are damaged enough, were impossible to get drops from.

"Correct. The Messiah System however is able to access this power, as well as is able to manifest data from demons that you have defeated."

"…This is the best birthday present ever."

He smiled to himself as he looked at the materials he collected from the demons.

[13 Demonic Closed Eye Essence]

The eyes are the windows to the soul, and yet these eyes forever remain closed, unable to open up to see the truth of what they became.

"Oh that's so cool, they have lore blurbs and everything."

He then looked down, finding an item that was shining unlike the rest.

[Aprum Great Axe. Requires at least Strength E+ to wield]

A powerful axe wielded by a powerful boar like demon, slow and heavy, yet each blow can sunder a building.

"Woah, let me-"

Suddenly footsteps echoed throughout the church as a Paladin approached him from behind.

"It's time for you to help us get to the bottom of this matter."
