FATE of DxD

Can It Even be called War? IV

(A/N: I think I've been calling one of the current Satans Falbius but i recently realized his actual name is Falbium. I'm not going to bother going back and looking through every chapter to correct every instance of the mistake as it is so minor but I'll be using the proper name from now on.)

While Jack was having her fun, Asako was doing her job and Morgan along with Artoria and Jeanne were locking down most of the devil leadership and three of their most powerful combatants, including the unanimous first and second strongest, Serafall and Falbium had some tough decisions to make.

Serafall had caught on to something she had previously missed. More accurately, she had made an assumption she shouldn't have and now she had a big problem on her hands.

The unofficial understanding between the Satans and Jun's delegation was that the Satans would compensate for Sirzechs' offense, Morgan and her escorts would let minor insults levied towards her faction slide and she would get no interference when going after any enemy that went #too far" so to speak.

However, in the making of this deal, Serafall assumed they would strike at representatives that got out of hand and perhaps, if they were truly as powerful as they seemed, they might even target some key locations from the enemy faction.

What she did not expect however, was for them to have infiltrators ready and waiting for things to go south and make a huge amount of chaos in cities full of civilians.

Technically, Morgan was sticking to the contract as all the cities that were suffering under Jack's reign of terror were either in control of the Great King Faction or the Old Satan Faction however, there was a big issue for the current Satans that resulted from that methodology.

While they were certainly leaders of their own faction, as Satans, they also had a duty before every devil, including those of other faction and most lower class devils cared little for the politics of the upper echelon of devil society so they looked towards their Satans for leadership and protection.

If Morgan had gone for precision strikes as Serafall had assumed, Falbium would just slightly delay his forces' response, enough that everything would be over by the time they arrived.

Unfortunately, due to the wide scale of Jack's moves, the great respect and prestige the Satans had at the moment would plummet if they did not respond immediately and as a result, their status and authority would suffer, greatly worsening the problems within the devil race.

After all, even if the other two factions were weakened physically, and they were ready to take advantage as they were, public opinion would be completely against them and that created dangerous openings for their enemies to exploit.

The other side of the issue however, was that if they moved in to avoid that ill fate, the Satans would technically be breaking the terms of their unofficial contract with Morgan. In other words, they were screwed either way.

'Jun-kun is really petty . . . He will not be satisfied without making us suffer for real.' Serafall thought to herself, knowing that things were going too perfectly for it to not be planned in advance.

She was quite sure he would not use their breakage of the deal as a excuse to strike at them but he sure would take advantage of it in any future interactions.

'He will be able to get away with a lot more without coming off as unreasonable due to our repeated offences, even if the second was a hole he dug. After all, he may have dug it but we are the ones who jumped in.' She added in her mind.

As for acting opposite his predictions and honoring the contract, that would be a very stupid move. They would suffer a massive loss and only be square with Jun and his group, nothing more.

If they did move, Jun would extend diplomatic relations to get the benefit out of his newly gained advantage so while he would be somewhat screwing them over further, it was not that bad when considering the alternative. It would also mean having a connection to an extremely powerful force like his group was.

And so, their next move was pretty clear.

"We'll break the contract. Muster your troops and try to control the chaos. I'll be continuing the original plan to garner some extra authority from this whole debacle. It might even be more effective since the Great King Faction seems to be suffering big time." Serafall said to Falbium.

Knowing that time was of the essence and trusting his fellow Satan, Falbium did not ask for an explanation to her reasoning and decided to follow the instructions. It was what he wanted to do anyway. As lazy as he was, Falbium was not one not to take serious matters seriously.

Unaware of the approaching powerhouse and devil army, Jack happily went about her deadly and perverse business, being a bit drunk on the fun but always still vigilant, professionalist hammered into her by Scathach who Jack was now quite scared of.

Sirzechs, Ajuka and Grayfia were just about ready to make their move while Morgan Artoria and Jeanne were fully expecting it and waiting for the to start.

As for Asako, she was using her vast array of skills to neatly and competently complete her duties at a fast yet efficient pace, being the only one not about to be embroiled in a huge battle.
