FATE of DxD

Can It Even be called War? III

"What is your goal here Lady Morgan?" Grayfia questioned, still unwilling to to fight because her instincs warned her it was a bad idea.

Sirzechs shared his wife's pressage but he was running out of options and if he still chose to act passively in this moment, his prestige and authority would be irreversibly damaged.

Morgan unhurriedly replied in the most natural of ways.

"We are just collecting our due. And no need to worry about our prisoners, we'll return them."

Safe to say, the devils were shocked. Why the sudden outburst of tolerance and generosity? They thought.

The Fairy Queen's following words however, swiftly erased their doubts replacing them with others.

"After we're done here, the entire world will know better, regardless of what we do with them after all."

'What does this wicked woman have in store for us?' Was now the doubt in everyone's heart.

Whatever that was however, they could not afford to wait to find out. Morgan's bounded field which not only blocked teleportation, it even blocked any incoming and outgoing messages, made the sense of dread even worse as no one knew just what was going on outside.

Faced with the pressure and knowing what kind of cost inaction would bear, Sirzechs, Ajuka and Grayfia, the three most powerful devils present, all belonging to the same faction, two of them being super devils that surpassed the original Satans and Sirzechs being a part of DxD's "Top 10 most powerful Beings" when at full power, they all decided to take action.

Considering the power shown by their opponents however, it would not be wise to try and defeat them right away as, even if successful, the aftereffects of a battle of such a level would certainly kill anyone present who was not at the very least Satan class.

Magical communication could not breach the barrier Morgan set but it could be used between individuals who were both inside so without showing any hint of their face, the three top devils began planning their move . . .

While being completely unaware that Morgan could easily sense and tap into their communications and transmit the leaked plan to her escorts, Jeanne and rtoria so that they could all move efficiently and with perfect coordination when the time came.

Meanwhile, Jack and Asako, the two clone using assassins, were efficiently doing their job, with extreme amounts of fun too in Jack's case.

Their roles were simple. Jack used Natural Born Killers, with magical energy being supplied directly from Domina Coronam, to create as many bodies as she could.

All of her bodies which possessed the exact same abilities as the original would then Use The Mist on a large scale to cause as much chaos as possible without dealing too much collateral damage to the surroundings and civilians.

Devils were far more resilient than humans so as long as Jack focused on area of effect and not making the acid fog more powerful, they could survive exposure for a decent amount of time, enough to find shelter or create magical barriers to stop the mist from approaching them.

Amidst this chaos, Jack's job was to find and eliminate key targets within the enemy factions, the "fun" part of the job, at least according to the murderous loli's preferences.

Asako on the other hand, was to also take advantage of the confusion to execute a more subtle task. Two taks actually, to be precise.

Using Delusional Illusion, the enhanced version after her fragmented mind fused into one once again, Asako created multiple specialized assassin bodies and their objectives were to capture key targets that were to be kept alive as opposed to Jack's more violent task.

The other duty Asako had was to scout out important locations using the confusion as cover in order to gather intel and, if possible, set up preparations for easier and seamless infiltration at a later date.

While she stealthily assessed the locations Jun was planning on hitting later which Morgan had bargained for unwritten permission to access them, Jack was having the time of her life.

'I haven't had this much fun since I first met father all that time ago. Fighting the bones in the tower is not that interesting and training with father's wife is too harsh to enjoy but this is fun!' Jack though to herself as she stalked her prey.

She was a murdered after all and as one, Jack did not seek a powerful foe to best, a great fight, or even a valuable target to assassinate, it was when killing helpless victims that had no veritable chance to fight back against her than she felt most at home.

The main goal off her mission besides being the distraction, was to kill mid level personnel of the Great King Faction. In other words, weaken the faction by culling the devils who, despite not having true leading positions, were the one in charge of actually making things happen as per their masters' commands.

Jack waded through her comforting mist, stalking a one such devil with one of her bodies. In the start he was quite loud and threatening, speaking cookie cutter villain words like "You don't know who you're messing with!" and so on but as the mist kept him isolated, his bravado quickly went away.

Like a true master of terror, Jack dashed in, leaving a shallow cut on the devil, causing pain and even greater fear but not any real damage.

Slash.

Slash.

Slash.

The devil screamed as he fired magic in random directions, hoping to ward off his attacker but it was meaningless.

Slash.

Slash.

Slash.

Resistance devolved into a whimpering cry of despair and hopelessness as Jack claimed yet another soul . . .
