Extra's Curse: Servants Of Will

Chapter 59: Two rooms

His heart pounded hard as he received the details of the very first power that the fearsome creature — Morrveil Bloodroot — wielded.

It was called Eat Eat: Morrveil Bloodroot could peel the skin of any creature in a way that made the other party suffer to the point where they were barely alive — not dead, but not alive either. Even if their organs were cut out, they still wouldn't die completely.

This made Ibaan feel true fear for the second time. He finally understood what had happened in the Iron Knuckles — someone there had used the same ability on ordinary people for the sacrificial ritual.

There was one man he believed might have used the Eat Eat ability of Morrveil Bloodroot, and that was Bain De Light, the leader of the Iron Knuckles. But here came the problem: he didn't actually know if Bain had the Mark of Divinity or not. The school system never stated what mark Bain belonged to — it only showed the powers.

How strange.

But pushing those thoughts aside, he focused on something else.

A chill crawled down his spine as he thought — if the Morrveil Bloodroot ever turned against him, he would never die. He would just sink into a sufferable abyss, trapped between life and death.

That's right!

His expression froze.

'If I have to go against the world just for the Morrveil Bloodroot, I would go against it.'

Anyway, he could do nothing but move on to the next ability of the Morrveil Bloodroot.

It was called Soul Breaker: This ability helped in damaging souls directly with any sword the Morrveil Bloodroot wielded, even if the sword was taken from its owner.

Then came the third ability, called Reaper Donut: This ability could create a large hole in the stomach of the other party with a simple punch. However, the limit was that it could only be used once every 72 hours, which was exactly 3 days.

And the fourth ability was kind of simple, it was just called The Poisonous Spit: the fearsome creature Morrveil Bloodroot would spit out its saliva, which would be poisonous, and if the saliva came in contact with the wound of the other party, it would spread through the whole body of the other party and cause instant death.

All the four abilities were really dangerous compared to the abilities of Crepy Orrock. Morrveil Bloodroot was really a menace.

At the same time he looked at the creature and pulled his head back again. However, a wave of excitement rushed through his heart as he was sure that for now, the fearsome creature was in his hands.

But at the same time, to the surprise of his very consciousness, the creature moved — it really did, its limb moved.

It — it walked towards him, closing the distance between them.

And just then it moved its limbs, which were bent at almost impossible angles, yet they still reached his bare cheek and pulled it, which made his heart shiver.

'Huh?'

Ibaan blushed slightly — he really did — as his heartbeat sped up, and his mind went blank. He couldn't make sense of anything for a moment; nothing made sense at all.

'How ironic!'

Did the creature actually read his thoughts? He felt he could control it, yet it reacted on its own at times.

He swallowed hard.

And just then, he heard some ruthless noises coming from the two rooms.

But whatever danger was happening inside those rooms or upstairs, he didn't care for now, nor did he feel afraid. He knew he had two powerful weapons with him — the Morrveil Bloodroot, the fearsome and treacherous creature that could damage a being's very existence, and the Crepy Orrock, which could swallow anything at any time unless a barrier stopped it.

At the same time his heart ached, and he found himself in a bizarre situation of two choices. His heart wished to go into the right room first, while his mind pushed him toward the left room. He was stuck with a perplexing choice.

However, Ibaan was always more loyal to his heart than his mind, because the heart was the only thing that could sense higher danger and lesser danger. That's right — of course he chose his heart and stepped into the right room instantly.

The moment he entered the complete darkness that covered the whole interior, the door creaked shut behind him. The thick darkness slowly faded, and the structure around him shifted slightly, as if he had been transported somewhere else. And he had — after a quick look, he understood the place had changed.

The same tower structure — yet completely different.

Red spider-lily flowers were spread everywhere. The stairs climbed upward, and the passage ahead stretched into somewhere unknown, sprinkled with mixed sparks of light fighting the heavy darkness.

Ibaan's heart thumped when he found himself in such a place, one that looked exactly like the first tower — as if he had entered a new tower by stepping through the door. He felt that beyond the other door was a place like this too, but different in its own way.

And he was right.

The two doors led to two different towers, each ruled by a different lord of monsters — or so he believed.

Just then his eyes caught a familiar figure lying on the stairs.

Its shattered bone mask was covered in the blood-like liquid he already knew — the same filthy blood that the Filthy Beast-monster creature wielded.

Its eyes were shut tight, and its antlers hung lifeless.

Its body was completely crushed, soaked in both the filthy creature's blood and its own red blood, which almost looked human.

Its ear twitched slightly, and one eye opened, revealing its tired purple gaze.

It was alive.

His eyes widened, his expression froze, and a chill crawled down his spine.

It was the same creature he had first met in the beginning, when he had stepped beyond the walls that separated the land of beast creatures and monsters, the same one who had almost melted his heart and disappeared into nothingness.
