Exploring Technology in a Wizard World

Chapter 768: Lure the Snake out of Its Hole

"You don't understand," Galuo shook his head, speaking earnestly to the elder, "This issue must be resolved properly without any mishaps. In fact, the target itself isn't important; what's important is to figure out the details of the target.

Luo Fu, you've seen the records, so you should know that the target has had dangerous levels raised multiple times in a short period. If this kind of power increase is due to personal reasons, that's one thing, but I'm afraid others might be helping him. Perhaps the target is just a pawn released by an even more dangerous person, aiming to obscure our vision.

We've had precedents like this before. We must take this seriously, or else negligence might allow the enemy to influence our organization's layout and our pursuit of truth. And that is the real reason Supervisor Long Mei'er is concerned and paying attention to this matter."

After hearing this, the elder no longer had grounds to refute and thus respectfully asked, "Then captain, shall I go to the scene personally to understand the situation?"

"That would be good," Galuo nodded in agreement.

The elder made his way toward the exit of the hall.

At this moment, a short and vague sound came from outside the hall, disappearing quickly.

The elder did not pay it any attention and continued to walk out, but Galuo frowned and called out to the elder, "Luo Fu, wait a moment!"

"What is it, captain?" the elder asked, looking at Galuo with confusion.

Galuo did not explain but instead stared out of the hall with crimson eyes as if his gaze could penetrate walls, and after a moment, he called out, "Bister."

Bister was the one on watch outside, but there was no response for a long time.

Galuo's expression changed, his voice growing louder, as he used a special spell that echoed throughout the entire castle, calling, "Bister?"

Still no response.

Galuo's action attracted the attention of all the wizards in the hall; they looked toward him and out the door, realizing the situation, and became alert.

Galuo no longer hesitated; he stepped over the table and rushed out of the hall, calling out a third time, "Bister!"

The rest of the wizards in the hall, following closely behind Galuo, charged out without hesitation.

...

Very soon, a group arrived outside the hall, their expressions turned cold in unison, and then they readied themselves for battle.

They saw, not far away on the ground, the second-level low-level wizard Bister whom they had been calling, lying there. A pale person, hand plunged into Bister's chest, slowly withdrew it, obviously the murderer.

Around the murderer were three dangerous-looking black wolves they had never seen before, prowling as if they were ready to pounce and rip their prey apart at any moment.

When the murderer noticed the arrival of the group, he slowly lifted his head. He wiped his hand covered in fresh blood nonchalantly on Bister's body, pointed at Bister, and seriously asked Galuo, "The name you just called, is it this person? Too bad, I've just killed him. He can't respond to you anymore."

The many wizards who rushed out, after hearing the murderer's words, showed signs of sorrow for the loss of their companion and were provoked into anger by the deliberate insult.

The murderer saw this and let out a mocking laugh, which turned into an angry roar at the end, "What, do you feel sadness and anger? Interesting, I thought you were all emotionless pieces of wood, stone, ice cubes!

Since you can feel sadness and anger, that's even better because, when you killed Sofia, the feeling you gave me was tenfold, a hundredfold stronger! Right now, I am simply giving you back a little bit of that!"

The many wizards, unable to help themselves, were about to act after being provoked.

However, as the captain, Galuo maintained much more composure. After looking at the murderer a few times, he asked, "You're Sande, right?"

"Yes, I am Sande!" the murderer said definitively.

Logically speaking, you shouldn't be here right now. Yet here you are appearing in front of me, so does it mean that the operation to capture you by our people has failed?" Galuo said.

"Exactly right!" Sande said, "Your people have all been killed by me, and now I am ready to kill all of you as well!"

"Killed by you alone? You did this all by yourself?" Galuo blinked, skeptical.

"Why, is that impossible?" Sande said.

"Maybe it's possible, just that I can't imagine how that would be," Galuo narrowed his eyes, "But no matter what, since you can appear here, it proves you're already a big problem."

"Actually, I'm a bigger problem than you can imagine."

"Well then, let's see just how big of a problem you are."

"You'll be surprised!"

"I hope so!"

"Die!"

Sande roared out loud, not wasting any more words, and, with a wave of his hand, many spears made of dark energy flew rapidly towards Galuo. At the same time, several shadow wolves leaped out of the surrounding darkness, lunging at Galuo and the other wizards.

Galuo, upon seeing Sande's attack, showed little fear. He calmly released a purple energy shield around himself and with a waving hand, summoned a nearly one-meter-diameter fireball that fell towards Sande and exploded violently. At the same time, the other wizards also unleashed their spells in a counterattack against Sande.

"Boom!"

The battle, from the very beginning, reached an intense state.

...

From outside the castle, the process looked something like this.

Sande prepared and charged into the castle, which became silent for a moment and then became bustling with noise. Inside the castle, bursts of light of various colors flashed, and rumbling sounds continued incessantly.

Not long after, with a "crash", the poorly maintained castle gate was violently blown open, and Sande rushed out in disarray, with Galuo and his group following closely behind.

It was evident that Sande was covered in wounds. Though not on the brink of death, he sustained serious injuries, and more than ten shadow wolves have been killed, greatly diminishing his combat power. After escaping the castle and realizing he couldn't shake off Galuo and his group, Sande decided to stop on an open ground, turned his head, and locked eyes with Galuo.

Galuo, with his deep crimson eyes, spoke coldly, "You said before that you killed all the people hunting you by yourself? But now it seems that it doesn't quite match the reality.

You should know, the strength of our group here is slightly weaker than those who were hunting you before, and now you can't even handle us, so how could you have killed them? Or perhaps, do you have another reason you can explain?"

"The reason is simple."

"Oh? What is it?"

"I didn't use all my strength against you guys."

"Hmph, that joke isn't the least bit funny," Galuo said sternly, "Kid, I want to know the real reason."

"What I told you is the real reason," Sande said earnestly.

"Enough! I'm not stupid; I can judge the truth of a matter," Galuo raised his voice, "Since you don't want to tell me, fine, I'll capture you and find out through interrogation."

After saying this, Galuo gestured commandingly, "Attack!"

Immediately, the many wizards following Galuo swiftly acted, attacking Sande.

The light of various spells flashed in the darkness of night.
