Chapter 102: chaos IX

Ben cursed under his breath and started running out of Alexander's sight.

But Alexander wasn't looking at him and didn't care about his presence either.

He was staring at another man floating in the sky, bathed in yellow flames.

Cars rose and began flying through the sky like projectiles.

Chunks of concrete and buildings were also torn from the ground, and among them was Ben.

"Urgh!!" Ben leaped from one piece of debris to another, trying to get out of Alexander's attack range, but the man seemed to mistake him for just another piece of rubble and launched him along with the rest. "Son of a bitch!!"

Ben shouted and covered his face as many pieces of debris began hitting him.

"I'll kill you all!!" Ben felt humiliated at being treated like just another piece of rubble.

He flew along with the other debris launched at the man in flames, who raised his hands and created a wall of fire.

Gritting his teeth, Ben used a good portion of his magic to break free from Alexander's grasp, disappearing into the shadow of one of the debris pieces and reappearing many meters ahead.

Both Alexander and the man sensed the use of magic, glancing at a wall where Ben appeared and then continued running into the distance.

Neither of them was particularly interested in wasting energy on an unexpected intruder, so they ignored him.

Ben ran for a good while until a wall in front of him suddenly shattered, and two men burst through, locked in a fistfight.

They passed so close to Ben that he had no choice but to throw a kick to push them away and keep them from dragging him into their fight.

A spike of earth shot up beneath Ben, and he barely managed to dodge it.

Two more men fell from the sky, these ones dressed in strange outfits, casting their spells without regard for others.

Ben dodged to one side and punched one of the men who fell. The other attacked him as if Ben had hit his brother, and Ben met him with a punch as well.

"Who the hell are you?" one of the men asked, his mouth full of blood.

"I don't know." Ben kicked him to clear the way. "What the hell do you care?"

One of the guys who broke the wall raised his hands in a guard stance and eyed Ben warily.

"What force do you belong to?"

Ben coated his arms with electric sparks and hurled them at the guy. "To your damn mother!!"

The guy went flying, and the other three exchanged glances for a second before jumping into the fight.

Ben fought all three at once, while they fought each other and Ben at the same time.

A powerful golden beam exploded from the sky and struck one of the guys, splitting him in half.

Part of the beam hit Ben, burning him so badly that it practically tore his arm off in a blaze.

Gritting his teeth, Ben looked up to see a battle of unprecedented levels unfolding in the sky.

Entire buildings were being hurled at the man in flames, who intercepted them with golden beams that sliced them into pieces, which he then burned with his flaming shield.

Fire dragons danced across the sky, attacking Alexander, who stopped them with what seemed like invisible shields. But the fire dragons tried again and again to breach his defenses, making Alexander frown.

With his arm half-severed, Ben raised both middle fingers to the sky in resentment and cursed.

"Arrrggg!!" In an act of total cruelty and madness, he tore off his right arm with his left and used it as a sort of improvised club.

His arm, being part of his body, was an excellent conductor of his magic. So, filling it with lightning magic, he began swinging it at anything that got in his way.

In the distance, a building split cleanly in two, a cut so precise it seemed almost atomic.

From one of the severed halves, a blue flame erupted that couldn't be extinguished.

The roar of a dragon rose from the same spot as a giant lizard opened its jaws and swallowed the falling half of the building.

The ground began to tremble, threatening to collapse.

Ben struck one of the men with his arm and grabbed another in a chokehold, while with his teeth, he savagely tore off the man's ear.

Another dragon's roar was heard as a wave of fire swept through the chaos of the battle, affecting everyone.

Ben released the guy he was holding and spat the ear onto the ground. Seeing the wave of fire coming, he dove behind a building and took cover.

The fire devoured all the streets, and many of the zombies were reduced to ashes.

But people like Ben and the fighters had various ways of surviving that attack.

In the middle of the wave of fire, a slash of blue flame split the flames and the path alike.

From various parts of the buildings and ruins, sounds of water splashing against the flames were heard, and fighter jets streaked across the sky, unleashing bombs everywhere.

Some of the bombs were controlled by Alexander Crapp and hurled at the man in flames. The rest impacted the streets and buildings.

One of the bombs landed very close to Ben, sending him flying, disoriented.

His flesh cooked, and pieces of his skin peeled off, causing him to grit his teeth in pain.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw tanks invading the streets and platoons of armed soldiers approaching in a crouch.

Spitting out some blood and dirt, Ben stood up and began limping away from this war zone, but suddenly a car hit him, sending him flying to the other side of the road.

"Hello, Ben!" An old woman leaned out of the car's window and greeted him warmly with a smile. "Do you remember what I told you last time?"

Ben shook himself and spat out several bloodied teeth. His magic was working to heal him, but he was badly injured.

In fact, it was a miracle he was still conscious.

The old woman got out of the car and began running on all fours in a very eerie manner.

"I told you that the next time we saw each other…" The old woman circled Ben's body, celebrating with claps and laughter. "Jie jie jie, I told you: we'll meet in the future, Ben. And that will be the day of your death."

The old woman's body began to writhe in an eerie and clearly painful way.

Worms started crawling out of the old woman's eyes. Her legs and arms broke, and several tentacles emerged from them.

The old woman began to scream in pain, as if the transformation was destroying her.

Her chest split open, and black blood began gushing out. The blood started pooling and forming a kind of tar.

Several of the tentacles approached Ben and immobilized him. Ben struggled with all his strength, but his three limbs were too weak, and he could only growl while resisting.

The tar began to move as if it had a life of its own and approached Ben.

"Get your damn tentacles off me, you filthy piece of shit!!" Ben tore off one of the tentacles with his teeth, but it regrew quickly.

The tar and worms crawled across the ground and began climbing up Ben's body until they reached his face.

Ben's eyes widened in panic as he tried to grab the tar that began entering his mouth and eyes.

"Arrrggg!!!" Ben felt as if, instead of a black liquid, he was swallowing molten lava.

His eyes turned red, then black, as he began to convulse.

His body twisted and convulsed in a very erratic manner, clutching his throat and struggling to breathe.

A black liquid tried to invade his body, while Ben fought with all his strength.

Ben's expression was contorted and full of pain, but he couldn't let out a single sound or scream.

"Stop resisting; no one in history has ever been able to resist my possession."

Ben ignored it and kept resisting with all his strength. His magic was depleted, and the little he had left was focused on healing him to keep him from dying of his wounds.

Ben fought… He fought for more than three hours until he could no longer.

"Jie jie jie jie jie jie jie jie jie jie!!!! What is this?!" Ben's body leaped up, and his arm regenerated in a matter of only two seconds.

"What the hell is this?!" Ben frantically patted his body as his four elements manifested around him. They floated, melded, joined, and fused in different ways. "What a strong body this is!! This is insanity!! It's been a long time since I possessed a body like this!!! Jie jie jie jie jie."

Ben raised his hands to the sky and began laughing maniacally.

That day… Ben died.
