Evil Dragon Crazy Soldier King

Chapter 1139: Peonies and Wild Grass

Even ten million US Dollars is a hefty sum for everyone present.

Upon hearing Willhaus's generosity, everyone was taken aback.

The key issue was how a mere piece of rock could be worth such a fortune?

Willhaus looked around at the guests indifferently: "Is there anyone willing to bid higher?"

The entire room fell silent.

Yang Fei was a discerning individual.

He could originally participate in the auction, but given his status, he could not risk angering Willhaus and arousing his suspicion.

George smiled slightly, instructed the attendant to put the mineral in the safe, and said kindly.

"This is a product of the Royal Laboratory, nothing too rare. There's no need for the general to bid; I'll gift it to the general."

Willhaus raised his eyebrows.

"You are mistaken. The value of this mineral exceeds all your treasures. Ten million US Dollars is already very low."

Willhaus's shocking words stirred much discussion among the guests.

George smiled bitterly: "The general is an extraordinary person with a unique vision that I cannot match."

"But good things should be given to those who can appreciate them, just a small token. I hope the general will accept it with a smile."

Willhaus frowned slightly.

"Thank you for the prince's kind offer, but there's no need. I never accept gifts from others."

George's smile became rigid.

His sole intention was to win over Willhaus, but this fellow publicly embarrassed him. No matter how broad-minded George was, he could no longer force a smile.

Since entering the banquet, Grand Prince Brown had remained low-key.

He only stood up to welcome Willhaus when he entered the hall.

At this moment, Brown slowly approached Willhaus and said lightly.

"The general is a pillar of the nation, yet so incorruptible, truly admirable."

George's face turned even paler.

Brown's words were mild but held hidden sharpness.

It was as if accusing George of seeking to influence Willhaus by bribing him recklessly.

Stina noticed George's embarrassment and pinched Yang Fei hard, signaling him to help George out.

Yang Fei, grimacing in pain, stood up and announced loudly.

"Actually, Prince George is merely cherishing and respecting heroes."

"General Willhaus is renowned worldwide, not only does Prince George admire him, but we ordinary people also deeply respect him."

Yang Fei's words were skillful, subtly flattering Willhaus while helping George.

Brown's anger simmered underneath, and he turned coldly to Yang Fei.

"I'm speaking with General Willhaus, and I prefer not to have any interruptions. Please show some self-respect."

As he said this, as if reciting a chant, he added.

"Peonies and peonies compete to bloom, what place do wild grass have to shine? It's human nature to be self-aware, Mr. Jack, wouldn't you agree?"

These incisive words left no room for Yang Fei, and by extension, began to mock George.

George's anger was evident on his face; he understood Brown's meaning but couldn't respond momentarily.

Yang Fei chuckled, turned slightly mockingly to Brown.

"May I ask the prince, are peonies and peonies precious, or wild grass?"

Yang Fei's question triggered a burst of laughter and chatter among others.

"Is this guy foolish? Asking such a simple question, utterly hopeless."

"Hmph, just trying to stand out, survival wisdom of a small figure."

"I'd like to see how he explains himself, feels like this guy has brain issues."

Brown raised his eyebrows, but refrained from speaking directly to Yang Fei, instead smirking at George.

"George, are your subordinates all such fools?"

George snorted, looked at Yang Fei: "Jack, continue."

Yang Fei calmly looked at Willhaus.

"General, you are the War God of the Greenworth Empire, undefeated in battle."

"If you were to choose soldiers, would you prefer handsome cowards or seasoned veterans who have survived countless battles for your charge?"

Willhaus understood Yang Fei's meaning, snorted, and said nothing.

Yang Fei smiled: "I believe everyone understands my point."

"Wild grass is akin to those unattractive yet heroic soldiers, whereas peonies and peonies in a greenhouse are akin to so-called stars who wet their pants at the sound of gunfire."

At this point, he smiled faintly at Brown.

"Your Highness, do you say peonies are precious, or wild grass?"

Brown hadn't expected this fellow to circle back, trapping himself in the process.

He was momentarily speechless and couldn't articulate a response.

The Greenworth Empire favored war, with military achievements being the sole path to advancement for lower-class communities.

The current Emperor valued military accomplishments above all else.

No matter how audacious Brown was, he dared not contradict his father.

He understood that his every word and deed would be reported to the Emperor.

If his inappropriate behavior was embellished and relayed to his father, causing his displeasure,

everything Brown had painstakingly planned would suffer severe setbacks.

Thinking this, Brown snorted heavily.

"Indeed, worthy of George's capable subordinate, a truly formidable speech, you've won. I apologize for my inappropriate words."

Saying this, he gritted his teeth and bowed slightly to Yang Fei.

Hearing Prince Brown personally apologize, everyone was greatly moved.

This was probably the first time in years that Brown had bowed and apologized to a commoner.

This monster!

George and Stina were both surprised and delighted.

Neither had anticipated Yang Fei's eloquence, forcing Brown to apologize personally.

This was the first overwhelming victory George achieved against Brown recently.

Yang Fei, in high spirits: "Your Highness needn't be courteous; this verbal sparring need not be taken to heart."

Brown looked at this seemingly humble yet actually smug guy, his anger surged but he couldn't act.

He had no choice but to bow to George and Willhaus.

"Both of you, I'm not feeling well; let's meet again later."

Saying this, he waved to Helen in the distance.

"Darling, shall I escort you back to the apartment?"

Helen gracefully came over, bowed slightly to Willhaus and George, then turned with Brown to leave.

Willhaus coldly looked at Yang Fei.

"You have quite the audacity to confront Brown like this; trouble will certainly follow."

Yang Fei shrugged: "Just an opinion."

"General, you wouldn't want your military camp full of ornamental pillows, correct?"

Willhaus snorted, turned to bid farewell to George.

"Thank you for your kindness, Prince. I have military affairs to attend to, so I'll take my leave."

George extended his hand to shake Willhaus's for a farewell.

"My apologies for Jack's indiscretion; I hope the general will pardon it."

Willhaus turned sideways, pointed at Yang Fei: "I'll find you again."

Saying this, he strode towards the hall's entrance.

A captain behind him, carrying the safe box containing the Mithril Ore, followed behind.

Boom!

Just then, a muffled sound suddenly rang out.
