Chapter 1123: Work Ethic
The Spark Modification Center offers extremely favorable treatment for engineers working on core technologies.
They have their own canteen and apartments, and the salary is several times that of ordinary workers.
As the chief engineer and technical director of the engineering department, Yang Fei was also allocated a two-bedroom apartment.
That day, after work, Yang Fei undressed and entered the bathroom to enjoy a relaxing bath.
Just then, the doorbell rang.
Yang Fei got up to open the door, only to see Stina standing outside, turning her head expressionlessly.
"Prince George has a race at seven tonight at the Eagle Mountain Circuit."
"This race is very important for George, and he hopes you can accompany him to check for any potential issues with the car during the race."
Yang Fei was inwardly pleased but couldn't help noticing Stina's sour expression, which puzzled him greatly.
"What's up with this woman? Is it that time of the month for her?"
After speaking, Stina turned to leave, never once looking directly at Yang Fei.
"Get ready. I'll pick you up at six, and we'll head to Eagle Mountain together."
Before Yang Fei could respond, Stina had already departed.
Watching her leave, exuding a kind of androgynous beauty, Yang Fei looked at himself suspiciously.
"Damn, I'm not wearing pants! No wonder she hurried off so abruptly."
Feeling utterly embarrassed, Yang Fei narcissistically thought.
"Could it be that my cute little bear soccer shorts aren't adorable? Pfft, that woman is such a tomboy, how could she appreciate such beauty."
Yang Fei nonchalantly spat on the ground, feeling quite pleased with himself as he returned to his room to get dressed.
At six in the evening, after dinner, Stina drove a Ferrari sports car to pick up Yang Fei.
Outside the apartment building, Stina, wearing oversized sunglasses, raced over in the Ferrari.
The Ferrari performed a beautiful drifting maneuver with screeching tires, stopping right in front of Yang Fei.
Raising an eyebrow, Yang Fei gave a thumbs-up for Stina's impressive driving skills.
Her skill level was almost comparable to a professional racer, seemingly indicating Stina was an avid racer.
Yang Fei quickly got into the Ferrari, and just as they were leaving the apartment, John, who had just stepped out, blew a loud whistle.
Outside the apartment, a group of engineers ogled Yang Fei and Stina, with John winking and giving Yang Fei a thumbs-up.
Stina's face turned cold, sending everyone scattering.
The Eagle Mountain Circuit is the private race track of the Greenworth Empire's Royal Family, with treacherous terrain and a winding mountain road.
One side of the track clings to the mountainside, while the other drops into an endless abyss, shrouded in clouds and mist.
Though concrete barriers are set along the cliffside track, it still appears extremely terrifying.
At this moment, a handsome, sun-kissed white man was resting under a makeshift sunshade.
A row of magnolia lampposts illuminated the entire area as if it were daytime.
Not far away, five or six racers, exuding confidence, were chatting and joking together.
A row of expensive sports cars was neatly parked behind them.
All the cars were top-notch brands like Porsche and Ferrari, implying the racers' affluent or noble status.
Just then, a Ferrari sped in from afar.
Accompanied by the screech of tires, the Ferrari executed a graceful drift, parking directly in the spot.
Stina removed her helmet, gracefully and dashingly stepping out of the Ferrari's driver seat.
From the passenger seat, Yang Fei, wearing a pair of non-prescription glasses, stepped out elegantly.
His attire, a Versace shirt tucked into his pants, made it clear he was a highly knowledgeable senior engineer, with a refined and dignified appearance.
Stina, wearing a leather vest and pants, accentuated her voluptuous yet slender figure, making her look exceptionally stunning.
Although she had short hair, her pronounced feminine features contrasted sharply against it, making them stand out even more.
The handsome white man smiled in appreciation, waving to Stina from a distance.
"Stina, come sit."
It was clear the handsome white man was quite interested in Stina, too.
He slightly bent forward, and a royal guard wearing white gloves brought a chair for Stina.
Stina walked over and slightly bowed, "Greetings, Prince George."
George's gaze had shifted from her to Yang Fei, showing curious interest.
"And this must be Mr. Jack, I've heard much about you."
Yang Fei slightly bowed, "Greetings, Prince George, I am Jack."
His neither humble nor arrogant demeanor, combined with a strong self-assured look that was both restrained and somewhat prideful, made an impression on George.
This kind of look, George had seen in many capable individuals before.
Only those who possess exceptional mastery in their field exhibit such a strong sense of confidence.
Prince George waved his hand, indicating the guard to bring a chair, and kindly gestured to Yang Fei.
"Mr. Jack, you've worked hard. Please have a seat."
Yang Fei shook his hand, "No, Prince, let me inspect your car first. It is my honorable duty."
Yang Fei's lack of concern for propriety startled Stina.
In an Imperial State, no one would dare resist a prince's request so boldly.
This guy was truly daring.
George, however, smiled with understanding.
"Very well, Mr. Jack is a responsible engineer, I admire your dedication."
He waved to the attendant, "Take Mr. Jack to inspect the race car."
Yang Fei followed the attendant to George's limited edition Porsche and began examining the vehicle according to protocol.
He glanced at Stina, who was chatting and laughing with George.
He didn't know what George said, but it made her shyly lower her head and coyly chastise him, causing George to laugh heartily.
Yang Fei chuckled inwardly, "The tomboy is flirting."
He knew that whether he could get close to George depended on his performance today.
If he became George's personal engineer, gaining access to the Royal Family's secret laboratory would be much easier.
Yang Fei checked several crucial data points, and when inspecting the brakes, he suddenly froze in shock.
The data showed an anomaly in the steering system of the Porsche sports car.
In other words, the central axis of the Porsche's steering wheel had been tampered with.
On a complex track like Eagle Mountain, steering is undoubtedly of utmost importance.
The steering function of any sports car is meticulously precise, with no room for any deviation or error.
If even a slight issue arises in the steering data, the entire vehicle could lose control, leading to catastrophic crashes.
Yang Fei immediately determined it was a deliberate act, executed with great concealment.
During normal driving, the Porsche wouldn't experience any issues.
However, once the speed exceeded 200 mph, the steering mechanism's data deviated by eleven percent from normal.
Under high-speed racing, such a small discrepancy could render the driver unable to control the speeding vehicle.
On such a treacherous track as Eagle Mountain, a car could either plummet into the deep abyss or crash into the mountain, both resulting in certain death.
Could someone be trying to kill George?
