Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong

Chapter 1352: The Situation Reversed Again (Part 2)

Upon hearing Leo Ray's words, everyone felt a renewed sense of stability, and under his command, began to further strengthen the fortress's defenses.

Due to the evacuation from Ice Stone City, our main forces have all entered the Waterfall Watcher Fortress, so a large number of Magic Cannons operated by the Wood Fairies were deployed atop the city walls, while the finest Wood Fairies stationed themselves in various magic towers throughout the fortress.

The Treants, most skilled in close combat, were positioned at the main gate of the fortress, ready to engage enemies outside or defend the gate at any moment.

Seeing everything proceeding orderly, Leo Ray shifted his gaze to the battlefield on the other side of the Giant Valley.

As the Dragonborn army clashed with the armies of trolls and minotaurs, the battlefield instantly became fiercely heated.

Though trolls and minotaurs were visibly much more robust, giving them a significant advantage in close-quarters combat, particularly with their superior strength, the Dragonborn boasted agility and speed, capable of diving into battle from mid-air.

As such, with the Dragonborn army's wedge formation piercing straight into the trolls and minotaurs' ranks, the battle seemed to be at a temporary stalemate, with trades on both sides.

However, upon closer inspection of certain areas, one would find the battlefield much fiercer than imagined.

Whether it be Dragonborn soldiers or the trolls and minotaurs, all were fighting at full force, resulting in the battlefield being not only filled with the clash of swords and spears but also burgeoning with the brilliance and explosions of various spells, surging with waves of bloody downpours, unbelievably intense.

The Dragonborn soldiers attacked the weak spots in their opponents' armor with longswords and long spears, exploiting their agility to evade enemy strikes, rarely choosing to engage head-on.

On the flip side, the trolls and minotaurs wildly swung their heavy weapons like flails and giant hammers, knocking down many of the Dragonborn soldiers circling above.

Any Dragonborn soldier struck by these blunt weapons often ended up with dented armor, their internal organs shattered, and those few lucky survivors soon met their end at the hands of the surging opponents.

No wonder, in such a chaotic and dense battlefield, even if the Dragonborn hovering mid-air managed to dodge enemy strikes, they were likely to be hit by other enemy attacks, making it hardly surprising.

Moreover, the Dragonborn soldiers in the air became targets for enemy javelins and arrows, and at such close range, the armor they wore offered little protection, as most of them donned light armor for flight and speed, limiting their defensive capabilities.

In contrast, trolls and minotaurs clad in heavy armor, although suffering casualties—some getting their necks pierced or directly beheaded—had far fewer losses.

During the intense battle, several Dragonborn soldiers attempted to fly past enemy lines, but were intercepted by an invisible corrosive green web laid by enemy sorcerers and shamans. Any Dragonborn soldier touching the web would quickly succumb to black fog magic, corroded into a mass of indiscernible flesh and blood.

"Your Majesty of the Humans was right; after losing the advantage of ranged Magic Cannon strikes and favorable terrain, the Dragonborn army, with relatively weak close-combat capabilities, is indeed beginning to fall behind!"

Having just completed the deployment of the Magic Cannons, Crisis returned to Leo Ray's side, stating: "If this continues, not even breaking through seems possible; the Dragonborn army will soon find itself in dire straits."

"Indeed, and the Flower Fairies are being extremely cautious, still refraining from breaking through."

Shuert, who had also returned, squinted his old eyes, gazing intently at the summit.

After the Dragonborn army decisively broke through, the Flower Fairy army swiftly moved to the vantage point previously held by the Dragonborn, still opting to employ Magic Cannon fire.

No wonder, although the enemy had diverted nearly half of their forces to gather at the Dragonborn's location, they still maintained forces to keep the Flower Fairies in check. Plus, the Flower Fairy soldiers' close-combat capabilities were nearly nonexistent; they could only summon golem puppets, making it even less likely they'd casually descend the mountain.

After all, in close-quarters combat, the enemy needed to eliminate the summoners of the golem puppets, which would solve everything.

"I didn't expect trolls and minotaurs to gain the upper hand again."

Broy, having returned to Leo Ray's side, smirked and said, "It seems the battle will soon be decided."

"Something seems amiss."

At the center of the group, Leo Ray, with a pondering demeanor, said, "If you look closely, even though the wedge formation deployed by the Dragonborn army for the breakthrough is indeed exquisite, it leaves many legions inside unable to maneuver, and there's no sign of reinforcement from these legions. Don't you find it odd?"

"Your Majesty of the Humans was correct," Shuert gently stroked his wooden whiskers, agreeing, "I also just noticed that Dragonborn are adept at aerial combat, and under normal circumstances, they shouldn't face such constraints."

"Unless those legions inside are unable to maneuver for some reason."

"Unable to maneuver for some reason? That's hard to believe."

Broy adjusted his crown, puzzled, "Why is this happening when the Dragonborn army is clearly at a disadvantage?"

"Indeed, it's hard to comprehend."

Leo Ray gently rubbed his chin, nodding thoughtfully, "But since their commander deployed them this way, there must be a deeper meaning. After all, given the Dragonborn's previous performance, their commander is definitely not an ordinary person."

"But the battle is clearly unfavorable; what could that commander be thinking?"

Crisis's starry eyes were filled with confusion, evidently unable to decipher the current situation.

"Unless that commander is deliberately setting a trap."

Leo Ray seemed to realize something, brightening as he concluded, "In other words, those non-maneuvering legions might not even exist!"

As Leo Ray's words fell, before the group could comprehend his implication, the battlefield suddenly underwent an unexpected shift.

A sudden army appeared behind the trolls and minotaurs, with a barrage of sharp spells and arrows raining down from above onto the unsuspecting forces.

With the rear comprising mostly the weak shamans and sorcerers, these previously loud and imposing Forbidden Spell Mages fell like wheat, screaming in rows, turning the trolls and minotaurs' rear into chaos.

This wasn't all; after the long-range assault ceased, agile soldiers swarmed over broken arrow shafts and fallen corpses, brandishing blades glittering with a cold glint, further harvesting the defenseless mages and archers at the rear of the trolls and minotaurs, escalating the screams and wails.

Illuminated by the blazing fires on the battlefield, the sudden army and their banners became clear; they were Dragonborn soldiers after all.

And within the Dragonborn army we were observing, the legions that hadn't deployed gradually faded, disappearing completely into the night.

"Your Majesty of the Humans truly foresaw this; it turns out the Dragonborn army split into two parts from the outset, one attracting attention from the summit while the other hid in the shadows, ready to strike the opponent's weak flank!"

Broy quickly caught on, exclaiming, "Now the Dragonborn aren't just breaking out; they're attacking the enemy from both sides!"

"Indeed, now the trolls and minotaurs, who can't focus on both fronts, are in for a loss."

Shuert squinted his old eyes, nodding slightly, "It seems the battlefield situation is about to be overturned once more."

However, shortly thereafter, the battlefield saw an unexpected development that caught our side off guard.
