Book 5: Chapter 215: Preparation
“You don’t know?” Luna narrowed her eyes, glaring at the teenage boy dangerously. “So, you really are playing me for a fool?”
“Come on, don’t be angry. I wasn’t the one who made the rules. But if you can come here, it means you’ve already met some of the criteria. As for the rest… you’ll just need what you need to.”
“If there’s no target, how can you expect me to go find it?”
“According to her, once you find it, you will naturally know who you are looking for. Everyone who comes here is looking for the same person.”
“What do you mean? Speak clearly!”
“Well then, that’s the end of our pleasant time. Have fun in this brand new world.” The teenager bowed gracefully to Luna.
“Wait!” Luna called out to the mysterious being, but when the teenager raised his head, his eyes were already glazed over.
“Tch, gone already?” Luna clicked her tongue in frustration and began to ponder the information revealed in the mysterious being’s words.
What does ‘some of the criteria’ mean…? Is it the imperial blood in me? And what does he mean by looking for the same person here? I don’t remember anyone I’m supposed to be looking for.
“Damn, there’s too little information to analyze. It seems I can only take one step at a time for now.” Luna bit her lip in annoyance. In any case, Luna didn’t particularly care about the rankings of the Martial God Tournament. She figured Lilith wouldn’t encounter any enemies there, so she felt no need to worry about her.
Hence, even if Luna had to spend all her time here, it didn’t seem like a big deal. As she had mentioned earlier, this world was intriguing, so much so that she felt an eagerness to explore it.
“Umm…”
The teenager had finally returned to his senses. He frowned as he looked at Luna, who was dressed in a gorgeous dress, and asked cautiously, “Are you an immortal from the legends?”
“Immortal? What is that?” Luna paused and recalled the so-called immortals in the books she had read earlier. They were legendary beings who wielded divine power and were literally immortal.
Hmm… divine power and immortality… Those words didn’t really describe her.
“I’m not an immortal,” she replied.
“B-But… but you… you just used immortal magic!” The teenager appeared agitated, looking at Luna with an intense gaze. Luna sensed that he wasn’t offended by her appearance; rather, he believed she was a so-called immortal.
It seemed like the world never lacked people who were obsessed with power.
“That was just a minor trick,” Luna replied casually, not wanting to get into too much trouble. “Something similar to magic, nothing significant.”
“Is that so?” The teenager deflated visibly.
Luna then recalled that this world had no magic at all. Even swords weren’t allowed to be carried casually due to strict regulations.
Now that she thought about it… perhaps her actions just now had drawn too much attention. Like flying, for example…
No, she couldn’t afford to attract too much attention; otherwise, her presence would create a huge disturbance in this small pond.
Hence, Luna decided that she needed to make the necessary preparations to at least integrate herself into this society first.
She patted the teenager’s shoulder and said seriously, “You should read more books related to Marxism philosophy. Immortals and ghosts don’t exist in this world. Even if you see them, they’re just tricks to deceive the gullible. You’re lucky to meet me today. If you had encountered other liars, you might have ended up paying three million five hundred thousand dollars for tuition!”
“Oh… Thank you, Big Sister.” The teenager still seemed a bit dazed, as if he wasn’t quite ready to accept the truth that immortals were fictional.
“No need to thank me; it’s what I should do.” Luna nodded before walking out of the bookstore. Outside, she noticed something was off. A crowd had gathered, seemingly waiting for her and holding those strange devices known as cell phones and cameras.
“That’s her!” As soon as they saw Luna, the reporters waiting outside became excited.
“Hello! May I ask if you just fell from the sky using special effects? We’re reporters from the XX Agency. We have no malicious intentions, we just want to know more.”
“Hello! A video of you flying in the sky has gone viral on the internet. Is that true or just an edit? We are—”
“Hello! We’ve received reports that you have outstanding skills in acting. Are you professionally trained? Where did you grad—”
Even though Princess Luna was accustomed to attention, the group of eager reporters shoving microphones in her face was a bit much. She reminded herself not to use her power in front of them; otherwise, they’d annoy her with questions to death.
“Sorry, it’s all fake. Thanks.”
After smiling and politely refusing the interview a few times, Luna secretly activated a footwork spell and easily slipped through the gap between the people. She ducked into a remote alleyway by the side of the road before the group had time to react.
Once she was sure no one was around, Luna took a deep breath and began to weave through the alleys, not stopping until she estimated she was far enough away from the bookstore.
“Speaking of which, this city is really large,” she said to herself, feeling a surge of emotion. She had just flown halfway up in the air and still hadn’t seen the city’s boundary. This simply wasn’t possible in her previous world.
According to the information in the books, this city had a staggering population of fifteen million people.
“Hehe, this is almost ten times the size of Jeorgetown City.” Luna stepped out of the alleyway onto the bustling main street and scanned her surroundings, spotting a jewelry store that looked promising.
“Do you accept gold here?” she asked directly, ignoring the stunned expression on the shopkeeper’s face.
“Y-Yes, of course,” replied the middle-aged man, who seemed to be the manager. He quickly adopted a standard business smile and asked, “May I ask how many grams the lady wishes to sell? Is it jewelry?”
With his impressive experience in customer service, the manager immediately recognized Luna as a big client the moment he saw her.
“Grams?” she echoed.
What unit is that?
Luna casually pulled out a handful of gold coins and tossed them onto the counter with a clatter.
“I’d like to exchange them for cash, right away.”
“T-This…”
The manager stared at the gold coins with wide eyes. He licked his trembling lips and looked at the beautiful woman in front of him before turning to the shop assistant beside him, who was also frozen in shock.
“What are you waiting for? Go get Old Wang!”
“O-Oh!” The shop assistant jogged into the back, returning shortly with a man in his forties or fifties, who appeared to have just woken up.
“Old Wang, you’re sleeping at work again!”
“What’s the big deal? I’m only needed a couple of times a day anyway.”
“I need you now! Come here quickly!”
The manager held up the gold coins anxiously and instructed, “Hurry and check if these are real.”
Old Wang cast a glance at them, then said, “Probably fake. Who else is stupid enough to turn real gold into coins these days? They look ugly and are useless as currency, it’s simply…”
As Old Wang casually picked up one of the coins to weigh it, his body instinctively shivered, and every hint of drowsiness left his body.
“Holy crap… These might be real.”
