Even If I’m Reborn as a Cute Dragon Girl, I Will Still Make a Harem

Book 5: Chapter 214: Modern World

“Whew…” Luna took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, her mind gradually calming down as the noise of this bustling world began to fade.

This was truly a very noisy world. Flat streets paved with unfamiliar materials were filled with strange metal boxes that zipped back and forth, occasionally emitting beeping noises.

Luna still didn’t understand how those metal boxes operated. They weren’t driven by magic or pulled by livestock or magic beasts; it seemed as if people simply sat inside and the boxes would move on their own.

But she knew for certain that they were not living creatures; there were no iron beings in this world.

The crowds on the streets were densely packed, their numbers overwhelming. Just looking at them sent shivers down her spine. Luna felt she had never seen so many people at once. No wonder the buildings here were so tall and close together; otherwise, how could they accommodate such a large population?

When the voices of the crowd rose together, it felt like several honeycombs buzzing in her ears, causing her head to ache.

This was the downside of having overly sensitive senses.

To cope with the noises, Luna blocked out some of her hearing and her sense of smell, especially as the metal boxes released a foul, pungent odor that filled the air. She couldn’t understand how the people here tolerated it.

Luna also noticed that the windows weren’t made of glass but some material resembling it—much clearer and more transparent.

In the distance, various images appeared on walls made of this material, reminiscent of the projection function of the Spectrum Stones, though the image quality was far superior.

“I guess this is not my original world.” Luna concluded that she had indeed entered a different realm. “Is this place still part of that small world? But why have I never heard of such a place?”

She felt puzzled. Although the small world was currently being used for the tournament, it was essentially the private property of the imperial family.

Given her authority within the imperial family, if she hadn’t heard even a whisper about this, the only one capable of keeping it hidden would be one person—the current Emperor of the Holy Dragon Empire.

Of course, there was another possibility that over the ten millennia of the imperial family’s control of this small world, they had never discovered this place either. But that seemed unlikely.

Luna felt that successive generations of the imperial family had likely explored this land countless times; otherwise, they wouldn’t have felt comfortable using it as a venue for the tournament.

“I don’t know if this is another complete small world… or just a place within one. Anyway, I need to gather intelligence first.”

To gather the quickest information about a place, consulting books was naturally the best approach. It just so happened that Luna realized she could not only understand the language of this world but also read its script.

She landed in front of a store called “New Bookstore,” causing the pedestrians passing by to stop in their tracks, their mouths agape.

Some of them pulled out small devices called cell phones without saying a word, flashing them at Luna while excitedly exclaiming something about filming or other equally strange words.

Luna cast a glance at them and quickly ignored their presence. Since this group of bumpkins had never seen anyone flying, it meant there were probably no saint-level experts in this place.

Walking into the bookstore, Luna felt a cool breeze wash over her. She glanced at a shelf by the door and realized that the refreshing air was flowing out from it.

“I detect no magic power from it. Is it operating the same way as those metal boxes that run on the road called cars?”

Not particularly interested in such things for the moment, Luna glanced around, ignoring the customers and shopkeepers who were staring at her in confusion, and headed straight for the shelves filled with books on history, nature, and science.

There were a lot of books.

The shelves were stuffed full of books with colorful covers and strange titles, unlike the ones Luna was accustomed to, where she could easily discern the content just by glancing at the title.

She felt a bit dazzled. However, this was not a challenge for her. With a flick of her finger, dozens of books automatically flew off the shelves and began to rotate around her.

Luna closed her eyes and used her senses to read them, flipping through the pages rapidly.

Nearby, a teenager who looked like a student watched in disbelief, causing a copy of ‘The World’s Ten Greatest Unsolved Mysteries’ to slip from his grasp and drop to the ground.

“Seems like this needs a bit more explanation…”

Ten minutes later, Luna had nearly finished skimming all the books on several shelves. With a somewhat odd expression, she began to return them one by one.

This was a very strange world. There was no magic, no battle qi, no magic beasts, and no deities. What existed instead was intricate and complicated technology that made her head spin—like that thing called a car and that contraption called an air conditioner.

Those were all products of the world’s technology. There was no need for magic or external power to achieve various magical effects. It was a very different path—a path of understanding and manipulating the world through the study of external objects.

Luna didn’t believe this path was viable or had much potential.

The only true source of power was oneself, and from what she had gathered, the most powerful nuclear weapon in this world was just the equivalent of an advanced saint-level spell.

Nevertheless, it was amusing. In Luna’s eyes, this world was quite fascinating.

“It seems like you already have a basic understanding of this world.”

Hmm? Luna turned alertly to the side, looking at the teenager who had just been shocked by her now calmly picking up the books from the ground, dusting them off, and returning them to the shelf.

“Looks like you’re the mastermind behind this.”

“I wouldn’t call myself the mastermind. I’m just waiting for a fated person,” he replied with a smile, showing his pearly whites.

“Fated person? Me?”

“I don’t know.”

“You don’t know?” Luna raised an eyebrow slightly, looking at him menacingly as she asked, “Are you teasing me now?”

“No, no, no, I’m not teasing anyone. It’s just that it’s not up to me to decide who this fated person is.”

“Then let the one who can decide come forward.”

“Sorry, she’s in a deep slumber. There’s no way for her to come out,” the teenager said, spreading his arms helplessly.

“You’re definitely teasing me!”

Luna narrowed her eyes and, in a flash, grabbed the teenager by the neck, lifting him off the ground. “Now tell me, who are you, what’s your purpose, and how do I get out of here?”

“Whoa, easy there! I was just about to explain.” The teenager maintained his smile, seemingly unaware of his impending doom.

“Hmm, guess this is not your real body,” Luna said before casually tossing the teenager back to the ground.

The owner of that voice was merely coming out from the teenager’s body through some method. From the tone of his voice, it seemed likely that he was the same person who had pushed Luna through the doorway.

“Hehe, you’re a smart one,” the teenager commended as he stood up. He straightened his clothes and cleared his throat before explaining, “The way to get out of here is simple: you just need to find someone.”

“Find someone? Who?”

“I don’t know.” The teenager flashed Luna another smile, revealing his large, pearly whites once again.
