Chapter 2: Hidden feelings
I want to be your nap so I can dream with you no matter when
⭐
10 years later..
"Nam Ji Ah, you better wake up before I come in your room and whoop your ass". Ji Ah's mother shouted from downstairs, making her groan and turn to her side. She grabbed her phone to check the time. "7:30 am" School started at 8:30. She forced herself out of bed and went to the bathroom. Splashing some cold water on her face to wake herself up, she began to do her morning routine.
After she was done, she came outside and put her uniform on and brushed her hair. Grabbing her bag, she rushed downstairs and was met with the sight of a white dog wiggling his tail and jumping around her to get her attention.
"Snowy!" She exclaimed, scrouching down on her knees to pat the dog, who in return wiggled his tail even more.
"I see you finally decided to get up and get ready. Good for you, I was about to come upstairs. You really need to start waking up early Ji Ah, you are gonna move on your own next year" Her mother said, with a worried expression.
Ji Ah went to her mother and wrapped her arms around her, giving her a back hug. "I know you are worried about me mom, but trust me, I am gonna be completely fine on my own. So don't worry" She said, resting her chin on top of her head.
Ji Ah had grown up during the past few years, she was taller than her mom, but then again, her mother was just super short. But she was happy that at least there was someone who was shorter than her, as she was one of the shortest in her friend group.
"You say that but I am still worried about you. Anyways, breakfast is ready." Her mom said, placing a plate of sandwich on the dining table. Knowing that she was getting late, Ji Ah just picked the sandwich up from the plate, kissed her mother on the cheek and went out of the house. Her mother, being used to this, just smiled and shook her head.
"I really do worry about this girl" She said, getting back to her work. Her phone started ringing and she picked it up to see who it was. A smile formed on her face, seeing the name. It was Ji Ah's dad.
He was a very busy person, but he still managed to call her wife twice a day to check upon her and his daughter. They were a really happy family.

Ji Ah hurried towards her best friend's house, munching on her sandwich on the way. It felt like yesterday when they met, at that carnival. She always felt lucky to have found him, and the other four boys too. She did feel bad for him, because even though he had them, he was alone at his house. Ever since his mother went missing, he had been living alone.
Flashback :
"Ji Ah! Please come here, my mom is missing. I can't find her anywhere!" A panicked Yeonjun said from the other side.
"Jun! I am coming there with my parents but please calm down. I am sure she will come back" Ji Ah said, getting into the car with her parents.
"I don't know Ji, I asked everyone in the neighbourhood and none of them know where she is. You know she never does that." Yeonjun said. It sounded like he was gonna cry.
"I know Jun and I also know that it's hard to calm down right now but please, try to not panic. We are about to reach there." Ji Ah said. They ended the phone call as Ji Ah and her parents reached Yeonjun's house.
Ji Ah immideately engulfed the crying boy in her arms as he let out sobs into her shoulder. Her dad had called the cops and so they arrived there as well. Her mother took the two kids into a room and tried to make the boy calm down, who was still crying in Ji Ah's arms.
The case went on about for a month but they found no signs of Yeonjun's mother. It felt like she disappeared into thin air all of a sudden. In the meantime Yeonjun stayed at Ji Ah's house, who tried her best to cheer him up. But he was still the same. She understood that it was hard for him, now that his mom was gone too. But she still gave him hope and told him that she will be back soon.
It was a strange case. No one knew where she went. When the cops asked Yeonjun when had he seen her the last time, he said that it was in the morning, when she had dropped him for school.
When he came back, she was nowhere to be found. The house seemed fine, nothing was out of place or broken or stolen. So it was clearly not a case of theivery. But then, what was it?
End of flashback.
Pulling herself out of her thoughts, Ji Ah realised that she had reached Yeonjun's house. She quickly wiped her hands and her mouth in her napkin and was about to ring the bell when the door opened.
There stood Choi Yeonjun, Ji Ah's very first best friend. The girl smiled and gave him a quick hug.
"We are going to be late again because of you sleeping in Ji Ah" Yeonjun said, as they both began walking towards their school.
"Yeah yeah I get it. But school isn't that far away from here, it's like 10 minutes." The girl said, smiling innocently.
"And we have five minutes till the school starts. I have become used to this by now" Yeonjun said.
"Then why do you complain?" Ji Ah asked, already knowing the answer.
"Because my day doesn't start without doing so" Both said at the same time and stared giggling
TW : SELF HARM
Ji Ah loved to see him smile, as it was a very uncommon thing. Ever since his mother had gone missing, he had become so gloomy. The worst thing was when Ji Ah had found out that he had been harming himself.
She vividly remembered the day she saw him coming out of his bathroom, blood stains on his shirt. He had forgotton to clean it properly and she was thankful for that, as she would have never found out about it. She quickly wrapped the wound and the two broke out into an arguement because of this. But Yeonjun just ended up breaking down in the end and Ji Ah engulfed him in a hug, like she always did when something was wrong. She promised him not to tell their other friends or anyone about this and asked him to promise her to never do something like that again. Both of them had kept their promise and she wished that he never did something like that again.

"Ji Ah! Nam Ji Ah!" Ji Ah snapped out of her thoughts seeing Yeonjun's hand waving in front of her face.
"Sorry, did you say something?" She asked.
"I said that we have already reached the school and need to go to our classes. What were you thinking? Is something wrong?" He asked.
"Ah no, nothing. Just thinking about how I will survive this hell hole today. Why can't I just graduate and leave already?" Ji Ah whined.
Yeonjun being used to this, just chuckled and ruffled her hair and like always, she poked her tongue out at him.
"You two are such kids" A voice came from behind them. They both turned around, knowing all well who it was.
"Says the youngest in the group" Ji Ah said. Kai glared at her and the two started bickering
"Yeah and you are a boomer" Kai said.
"Bitch I am like two years older than you" Ji Ah said.
"Doesn't change the fact that you are still a boomer" Kai said, poking his tongue out at her.
"You litt-" She was about to say but was cut off by Soobin's voice.
"Can you two like go a day without bickering like little kids" He said to the both of them.
"No" they both said in unison and just glared at each other. Soobin and Yeonjun just shook their heads and greeted each other.
"Well whatever it is. But Good morning shorty" Soobin said to Ji Ah.
"I am not a shorty, you are a giant" She said, scrunching her nose.
"No, you are just a dwarf" Soobin said.
"Please all five of you are giants, thats why I look short to you" Ji Ah said.
"Who are Giants?" Beomgyu's voice came from behind them as he and Taehyun caught up to them.
"Miss dwarf here thinks that its becuase of us giants that she looks short" Soobin said, making Kai giggle and Ji Ah sending a glare in his direction that immediately shut him up.
"Come on Ji Ah, just accept that you are short. It's not that hard. It's the truth after all" Beomgyu said, looking amused as the girl became more and more mad.
"No. N to the O to the No No No. You all are giants. I mean Taehyun is the shortest among you all and even he is so tall" Ji Ah said.
"We can continue this hot debate later but right now we are getting late for class so we should get going." Yeonjun said.
"Yeah, let's go Tae and Gyu. Bye boomer, see you later" Kai said hugging Ji Ah and saying goodbye to the older three. A little smile formed onto Ji Ah's lips as she knew that even though her and Kai bickered everyday, they still loved each other. They were honestly like siblings.
"Let's go dwarfee" Soobin said, making Ji Ah glare at him and him and Yeonjun just laughing in amusement.
"I hate you both" She said, trying to get away from them, but of course they won't let her.
"Awwe, we love you too" Soobin said, him and Yeonjun placing an arm on each of Ji Ah's shoulder.
"Hey Ji Ah" A deep voice called from ahead. The trio knew who it was. Only one guy had such a deep voice in the whole school.
Lee Felix.
"Lixie!" Ji Ah exclaimed and rushed to give him a hug. The duo let go from the hug and Ji Ah smacked Felix in the head.
"Ouch! What was that for?" Felix asked, rubbing his head.
"What was that for? You little twig, you didn't even tell me that you were going on a vacation. I was so worried when you didn't come to school the whole week, thinking you got sick or something. On top of that your number was out of reach as well" Ji Ah complained.
"I am so sorry Ji Ah. It was such a sudden planning and I lost my phone so I had to buy a new one. Here, give me your phone and I will type my number in" Felix explained. Ji Ah handed him her phone and the duo exchanged numbers.
"We are here as well, if you don't mind us disturbing you two" Soobin said, as him and Yeonjun came towards them.
"Ah of course not and its nice to meet you as well" Felix said, giving the boys a smile. The boys smiled back and they all bid goodbye soon after and began walking towards their class.
"That dude is definitely into you and seems like you are into him as well huh" Soobin said, wiggling his eyebrows.
"Oh Shut up Soobin. Its nothing like that" Ji Ah said, trying to hide her blush.
"Then why you blushing~" Soobin said in a sing song voice, making a funny expression and making all three of them laugh. While Soobin and Ji Ah's laugh was genuine, Yeonjun was just faking it.
It really pained him thinking about Ji Ah being with someone else. He had always thought of her as more than just a best friend but it was clear that the girl didn't think the same.
The trio walked into the class, Ji Ah being completely oblivious to the hurt expression on Yeonjun's face.
