Enemies Are All Nourishment for My Fungi

Chapter 424 Chatting with the Commander (3)

As the soil churned, the storage rings sealed in bags were slowly pushed out. Ye Nai took two and quickly exited the pasture.

But she was surprised to find that everyone had disappeared.

Luckily, the spores guided her to a spot where she could see the captives.

"Oh, you're here? What are you looking at?" Ye Nai asked curiously as she leaned closer.

The Commander, slightly excited, reached out to pull Ye Nai closer, pointing towards the distant captives.

"Look at their tattoos. Are these the wizard captives you mentioned?"

"Yes, aren't they well-behaved?" Ye Nai said with a hint of pride.

"Wizards are such a proud group. You really managed to subdue them without resistance. What kind of restraint works so well?" The Commander asked, full of curiosity.

"It's simple. Just pinch the meridian where their wizard power flows. If they attempt to channel energy, they'll experience full-body pain, close to death. Once or twice they won't believe it, but after a few times, they do, and then they behave." Ye Nai explained nonchalantly.

"And if there's a stubborn one?" Someone questioned.

"Then they die." Ye Nai tilted her head towards the voice and continued, "Wizards are the largest interest group besides the Noble Class. They can't develop on Blue Star, so they have to return to the Otherworld, frequently traveling back and forth. Cross-border travel requires energy. They use the most of it, and the researched products are given back to the Nobles to support this war. Also, their frequent travel is because the Otherworld births wizard-endowed children. They need to cultivate fresh blood and send them to the battlefield as military wizards."

"So that's why we see wizards on the battlefield." The group realized.

"Exactly, most are wizard newcomers, Junior Wizards. They accompany the army to earn military merits and resources. Just like our Awakeners, if a common family has a child with wizard talent, the family can rise; if a wealthy family does, they gain more resources. Even if the talent proves weak, at the very least, there's marriage value." Ye Nai explained in detail.

The crowd nodded slowly in understanding.

Then, the Commander broke the silence with a relaxed smile, "Let's go. We'll hand over these advanced captives to the Staff Department, and we'll go study the storage rings."

"I'm more curious about farming in the Secret Realm." Someone chimed in, immediately sparking laughter in agreement.

"Farming in the Secret Realm is simple because ecological evolution finally succeeded, and the Blue Star ecosystem accepted the Secret Realm environment." Ye Nai opened the Transmission Port while speaking.

"Ecological evolution? That's true. The battlefield trash outside remains because Blue Star's ecosystem can't decompose it, so it's dirty, smelly, and causes sickness." Someone sighed.

"Why would the Secret Realm evolve first? Isn't Blue Star supposed to deal with trash first?" Another person questioned.

"And ecological evolution succeeded in just fifty years. Is that normal?" Someone else expressed doubt.

"From an ecological evolution perspective, that speed is certainly abnormal. But with the alien invasion, what was considered abnormal might become normal in the future." Ye Nai analyzed earnestly.

"Indeed, common sense has been restructured countless times, one more won't hurt." Someone echoed.

"Maybe a new ecosystem is decomposing this trash on Blue Star where we can't see." Someone boldly speculated.

"That's very possible," the crowd agreed, nodding at the speculation.

As they chatted casually, they passed through the Transmission Port, returning to the sandy-colored rain shelter under the coastal cliffs.

Ye Nai placed the two plain ring bands on the table. The bands were large enough to fit several fingers through.

"These were taken from the enemy's logistics officer, used for transporting large quantities of goods, extremely spacious; even the large warehouse we've seen fits inside." Ye Nai introduced.

"Wow, so big?!" The crowd exclaimed in amazement.

"How do you use it?" Someone asked curiously.

"Use spiritual power to 'see' it. When you find yourself seeing a huge square space, you've got it. Initially, it's unfamiliar, but with practice, you'll get it." Ye Nai patiently guided.

"Mind if I try?" The Commander was eager.

Ye Nai smiled and pushed one over.

The Commander picked up the large ring like a bracelet, focusing all his spiritual power to "see."

Under everyone's watchful eyes, within half a minute, the Commander let out a surprised "eh."

"It's real! I see it, a square space!" The Commander snapped back, excitement overflowing, setting down the storage ring with a bit of sentiment, "So that's what space is like."

Ye Nai pushed the other ring to the other end of the table.

"Come, everyone should try it."

The group took their time, experiencing it one by one.

Everyone has spiritual power. As long as one is alive and conscious, there is spiritual power. Those standing next to the Commander and Ye Nai are Awakeners, with spiritual power more potent than Ordinary people. Initially unfamiliar with the storage ring, they saw the immense space inside after a few dozen seconds.

"Amazing, the space inside is huge." Someone marveled.

"Isn't using such a large space ring as a communal storage ring risky?" Someone commented casually.

"Sure, losing it is a concern, but if you find an Alchemist who can modify space storage items, you can erase the previous owner's mark or add a personal one. The prerequisite is having the connections for this, and the person willing to do it. Among alchemy wizards, those skilled at creating space items are as rare as Space Wizards." Ye Nai peeled a fruit, eating with a smile.

"Oh, so the chance of loss is low."

"Haha, even if the probability is low, you still need to keep it safe. If someone takes it, the ring is hard to fence, but the items inside surely fetch a good price." The group joked.

"Indeed." The crowd nodded, agreeing that a space ring this large is valuable, and losing it would be heartbreaking.

The storage ring returned to Ye Nai's hand. It's certainly attractive, yet there are too few. If there were more, the Commander would eagerly ask for a few.

Ye Nai pocketed the ring and noticed the Commander's tempted expression but said nothing and instead asked if he wanted to explore other scenic spots along the coast.

She wasn't going to ask why the Commander looked for her; it was just an accidental meeting in the Secret Realm. She didn't presume he'd come just for her.

"No, I've seen what I wanted."

The Commander cheerfully rubbed his neatly shaved head.
