Endless World: The Rise of Leonard Lawson

Chapter 161: Pledged Allegiance

While Mirelle was sent away to continue to loot the corpses, Leonard focused his attention on the two sisters.

"Now that your little sister has been rescued. Isn't it time for you to honor our deal?" He asked.

Elise nodded her head.

She started to list out every hideout and valuable intel that could be helpful to him.

Each piece of information was stored in an information orb, allowing Leonard to browse through them whenever he wanted to.

After all, Leonard didn't have the intention to learn everything besides the critical points.

"That's everything I know." Elise handed the information orb over to him.

Leonard received the orb and stored it in his magic pouch.

"The two of you can leave." He calmly said and retrieved his Crown Prince's representative token.

"With the token at hand, you can leave through the dock. There will be people from the Crown Prince who will let you leave with the ship."

Given the current state of emergency, it was only natural that every exit path would be blocked. Besides containing the berserk slaves, it was also meant to contain whoever was responsible for the incident, to be locked inside the city.

Hence, nobody was allowed to exit and was under strict curfew and lockdown.

However, there were indeed some who were exceptions to such laws.

Two of them naturally belonged to the powerhouse figure in Velastra: Wesley Livingstone and Darius Melton.

Nobody else would have had the privilege in the city, but the Crown Prince's arrival changed the balance of power.

And now, those who could represent the Crown Prince were literally gods.

They were untouchable unless they wanted to step over the Crown Prince's face and authority. Otherwise, they could only comply and obey timidly—just like how Darius had to offer his Death Guard up.

"Are you kicking us away?" Elise bit her lips softly and asked.

Nadia also clenched her fist softly, clearly a bit lost by his words.

"What are you looking at me for with such an aggrieved expression?" Leonard frowned. He was freeing them from their plight and giving them a way out in this rotten place.

So why are they perceiving him as a heartless man?

"The two of you are free now. There's no more restriction on you." He continued and waved his hand as a gesture to dismiss them.

"Where can we go?" Elise asked in a self-deprecating voice. All along, she wanted to escape from Darius's clutches with her little sister.

But now that it had actually become a reality, she had nowhere else to go.

Return to their family?

That was impossible!

It had been so many years, yet she hadn't heard a single news of her family wanting to search for them.

What did that mean?

It meant that they knew who the main culprit was and purposely avoided a confrontation.

"Please don't kick us away," Nadia uttered, her hand reaching toward his pants.

"We have nowhere to go. And Marquis Darius wouldn't allow us to live either." She added.

The truth remained that Darius still held influence over other cities and areas.

Now that the two of them had broken free from the magic contract and even exposed all the intel about him. It would be a miracle if Darius didn't wish to grind them together into meat paste.

Once the two of them were out of the Crown Prince's sphere of influence, Darius would make his move.

"If Sir isn't willing to take us under wing, please give us a chance to present ourselves to the Crown Prince." Elise knelt down, kissed her forehead to the ground, and pleaded for a chance.

Till now, they still perceived Leonard as a gold ranked merchant who happened to be representing the Crown Prince.

They had no idea of what his actual identity was.

Nadia also quickly followed suit behind her eldest sister's actions.

'Sigh, this is why one shouldn't meddle too much.' Leonard was placed in a predicament.

He didn't anticipate the two of them would want to remain by his side.

He already had too much baggage at hand. There was the Rosalia Troupe, survivors from the Slave Coop, and that assassin Mirelle kept vouching for.

Truth be told, he was worried that bringing them along would cause them more harm than safety.

"I have a target on my back. Their skills are no less than those of the bodyguard you just saw." Leonard revealed bits of the encounter.

'So that's why he came to the Fragrant Garden and buried someone?'

Realization quickly dawned upon Elise. She was curious why Leonard was burying someone, so it turned out the deceased was someone who had taken the strike for him.

The Gardener Aiken was truly something else. To provoke him in such a situation.

Nevertheless, Elise had to thank the former for his arrogance, which enabled her to be freed from Darius's clutches and even rescued her little sister.

"Our lives were saved by you, Sir." Elise flashed a determined expression.

"We would have been dead by now if it weren't for you. We are willing to sacrifice our lives for your safety." She continued, pledging her allegiance.

"Yes, I would have committed suicide once the internal tournament started." Nadia chimed in and grasped Leonard's pants.

"Nadia!" Elise called out and wanted to slap her hands away. Such an action was disrespectful to Leonard.

However, Nadia was adamant and refused to let go.

"If Sir disagrees, then Sir can just kill me. At the very least, my eldest sister's skills are superior to mine. If my death could enable my eldest sister to accompany Sir, then I am willing to die."

"What nonsense—"

Before Elise could complete her sentence, Leonard raised his hand and halted her.

"So be it then." Leonard coolly said. "I have given the warning, so I won't be responsible for your death. Don't even try to guilt-trip me either. I have no intention of being guilt-ridden again."

He had many people who died on his behalf, but they were all people who were trained to do so. Hence, he didn't feel any guilt and was willing to compensate for their death and service.
