Endless World: The Rise of Leonard Lawson

Chapter 156: Melodious Bar

The bar was named Melodious Bar. It was decorated with many colors and expensive furniture.

Besides the furniture, there was also a powerful formation that protected them.

"This bar is one of the training grounds underneath where the Death Guards are produced," Elise explained.

"Caroline, you bring the other women to the Royal Velastra Hotel," Leonard commanded.

The women referred to the survivors from the Slave Coop and the Rosalia Troupe.

Their group was too large in number, so continuation of traveling together would only stall their work.

"Why should I?" Caroline appeared to be displeased to be granted a bodyguard task. She was a researcher, not some bodyguard.

"You don't have to do it, but just know I'll remember the rejection." Leonard coolly responded.

Hearing that, Caroline could only grit her teeth and accept the task. If it weren't for the fact that she knew his mood was still soured from Irene's death, then she would have never agreed to it.

After all, she might hold similar disgust that Mirelle had toward other nobles; she wasn't impulsive or irrational like the latter. She was level-headed and knew when to retreat and advance.

Moreover, she didn't want to become a bodyguard because she was unsure of her ability to protect so many people at once.

She wasn't a powerful mage like Mirelle. She was a researcher who used utility tools to assist her in battle.

As if understanding her predicament, Leonard's eyes shifted to Claudia.

"I command you as the Master that you are to protect the group of survivors even at the cost of your life." He directly ordered her using the slave collar power.

Instantly, the slave collar around Claudia's neck glowed brightly, indicating that the command had been accepted.

What was surprising to Mirelle was the fact that Claudia didn't make any snide remarks. She simply kept quiet and accepted the order.

Soon, a large number of them split up, with Caroline leading them away to the Royal Velastra Hotel.

Although the Rosalia Troupe members were reluctant to separate, they also understood that things were about to turn serious in the Melodious Bar. If they remained, they would only become a burden to Leonard.

Hence, they didn't make a scene and only informed Leonard that they would be waiting at the hotel for his return.

With their current situation, their only hope was all on Leonard.

"The hotel is safe, with most of the Crimson Guards guarding the perimeter." Leonard calmly said and bid them farewell.

In the blink of an eye, only Mirelle and Elise remained on the scene.

"Mirelle, break open the formation." Leonard took a step back and allowed her to take the spotlight.

Mirelle received the order and promptly unleashed her magic to forcefully break open the formation.

BOOM!

A loud commotion was quickly made, with her magic clashing with the formation. The trembling sound caused the Melodious Bar to shake rapidly.

"Stop it! What are you trying to do?" In less than five seconds, a voice could be heard from the inside.

"Can't you see?" Leonard snickered.

"We're trying to enter the bar for safety, but the formation is blocking us."

"Then you could have just rang the bell to alert us! Why did you feel the need to attack the formation?"

"Oh, I didn't think of that. Then can you open the door?"

A silent response then commenced, with the person inside clearly being rendered speechless by Leonard's remark.

Having waited for 3 seconds, Leonard's patience wore thin as he snapped his fingers.

"Looks like they have no intention of opening the door for us." He glanced at Mirelle and signaled.

"Understood, Boss." Mirelle bowed her head and made sure her voice was loud and clear. She then conjured a large amount of mana in the surrounding, the pressure and aura nearly causing the formation to crack.

The damage was evident, which quickly prompted the person from the inside to deactivate the front formation and open the door.

"You guys are crazy!" It was a middle-aged man who appeared and looked at the trio in disbelief. They were about to curse them for being so impolite until their eyes spotted Elise.

'Isn't she part of Marquis Darius's Death Guards?' The middle-aged man was dumbfounded by her appearance.

While the middle-aged man recognized Elise, the latter also recognized them.

"I was commanded by Marquis Darius to come over here to check the situation." Elise calmly reported.

"Marquis Darius is staying at the Fragrant Garden and asked when you will send the report over."

"The report?" Startled, the middle-aged man was taken aback.

"Yes, the report that was supposed to be handled over this morning, Zach." Unamused, Elise easily brought up a reason for their arrival.

Upon realizing that the trio was actually on business under Marquis Darius's order, Zach sweated profusely.

"Dear me, do pardon my impoliteness." Zach swiftly changed his attitude and opened the door wide for them to enter.

"Do come in quickly and have some drinks first. Outside isn't safe with the berserk slaves running amok. Most of the customers are also taking refuge here while enjoying themselves."

With Zach believing Elise's words, the trio promptly entered the bar. Almost immediately, they were bombarded with joyous laughter and cheers inside, with drinks clinking together as they celebrated.

Leonard's expression remained stoic. But deep down, he was once again reminded of the dystopian-like environment within Velastra.

'Outside is full of blood, but here is like another paradise. The city guards are even more damnable.' He sneered inwardly. The city guards were deployed, but they only guarded the nobility or profitable buildings.

As for the other areas, they barely gave a damn.

The city was now lawless, with criminals even showing up here and there to ransack unprotected buildings.

People also killed each other or harmed them enough to be used as bait for the berserk slaves to give themselves time to escape.

There were even some bold bastards who took the opportunity to violate other women who were defenseless.
